Mon Dec 18 202314:37Tommy Nance Signs Minors Deal With Padres
The San Diego Padres have signed right-handed pitcher Tommy Nance to a minor-league deal that includes an invite to big-league spring training. The 32-year-old didn't appear in the big leagues in the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury and last appeared with the Marlins in the 2022 season, working to a 4.33 ERA across 35 outings (2 starts) spanning 43 2/3 innings of work. His only other season in the big leagues came in 2021 as a member of the Cubs when he posted a poor 7.22 ERA across 27 relief appearances and 28 2/3 innings on the mound. He's been able to generate strikeouts at a healthy 26.9% clip as a big leaguer but also sports a subpar 10.5% BB%, although his career 3.48 SIERA suggests he could be a nice find for the Padres on a low-risk deal.

Fri Jul 28 202320:19Tommy Nance Starts Rehab Assignment
Miami Marlins right-hander Tommy Nance (shoulder) will toss an inning as he continues his minor-league rehab assignment on Saturday in the Florida Complex League. He threw two scoreless innings on Wednesday. He started a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on May 12 and threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts on 37 pitches, but he felt shoulder soreness after that outing. Nance didn't appear at all in spring training and was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 30 and then moved to the 60-day injured list on April 22. The 32-year-old is going to need some more rehab outings in the minors before the Marlins feel comfortable activating him for his 2023 season debut, but Nance should be an option for Miami's bullpen next month.

Tue Jun 6 202312:23Tommy Nance To Resume Throwing This Week
Miami Marlins right-hander Tommy Nance (shoulder) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on May 12 and threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts on 37 pitches, but he returned after feeling shoulder soreness after the outing. Nance is scheduled to resume a throwing program later this week. Nance was initially put on the 15-day injured list on March 30 (retroactive to March 27) after not appearing in spring training, and he was moved to the 60-day IL on April 22. In his second big-league season in 2022, Nance had a 4.33 ERA (3.71 FIP), 1.51 WHIP and a 29.1% strikeout rate in 35 appearances (two starts) covering 43 2/3 innings.

Mon Apr 24 202312:06Tommy Nance Throws Bullpen Session
Miami Marlins right-hander Tommy Nance (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Friday, April 21. He didn't appear in a spring training game and was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 30 (retroactive to March 27) and moved to the 60-day injured list on Saturday. Nance is dealing with a right shoulder sprain and won't make his 2023 season debut until at least the end of May. The 32-year-old veteran should remain off the fantasy radar in all leagues. In his second big-league season in 2022 with the Fish, he had a 4.33 ERA (3.71 FIP), 1.51 WHIP and 29.1 percent strikeout rate in 43 2/3 innings over 35 appearances (two starts).
