Mon May 614:58Steven Kwan Set To Miss Four Weeks With Hamstring Injury
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is expected to miss four weeks with an acute hamstring strain, according to Mandy Bell of MLB.com. Kwan left Saturday's 7-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels with hamstring tightness in the top of the fourth inning. However, an MRI revealed a strain for the outfielder, which will cause him to be out for approximately one month. The 26-year-old has been one of the best hitters this season, batting .353 with three home runs, 11 RBI, six doubles, and two triples in 32 games. Fantasy managers should place him in one of their injured list spots and expect a return sometime at the beginning of June.

Sun May 516:53Steven Kwan Heading To Injured List
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is heading to the 10-day injured list with the hamstring injury that got him pulled from Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Kyle Manzardo is expected to be recalled as a corresponding move. It is an unfortunate injury for Kwan, as he has gotten off to a blistering start this season. The 26-year-old is slashing .353/.407/.496 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 28 runs scored and three stolen bases. Hopefully the ailment isn't overly severe and he can return in short order. Estevan Florial was batting leadoff for the Guardians on Sunday in Kwan's absence, but he is a fantasy afterthought at this point.

Sun May 512:10Steven Kwan Absent From Sunday's Lineup
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels after being removed from Saturday's win with left-hamstring tightness. With Kwan out, Will Brennan is starting in left field and is hitting fifth, while Estevan Florial is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Angels right-hander Griffin Canning. It's just the second time all year that Kwan hasn't been in Cleveland's lineup. We should have a better idea of the 26-year-old's availability moving forward after he undergoes an MRI exam on Sunday. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's back in there for the series opener against the Detroit Tigers. Kwan has been one of the best hitters in baseball this year with a .353/.407/.496 slash line and .903 OPS, so losing him for an extended period of time would be a big blow to the Guardians and fantasy managers.

Sat May 422:35Steven Kwan Will Undergo An MRI On Injured Hamstring Sunday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Sunday. Kwan initially injured his hamstring during Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels while trying to make a play in the outfield. "A hamstring is always concerning, especially with my history," said Kwan. "It's not something to be optimistic about." The Guardians will have a timetable and if an injured stint is needed once the MRI results are in. The 26-year-old is slashing .353/.407/.496 with three home runs and three stolen bases over 32 games in 2024. Gabriel Arias replaced Kwan in the game and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any time. Arias is on the radar in deep leagues after slashing .250/.271/.382 with a home run, nine runs, eight RBI, and three steals over 21 games this season.

Thu May 211:21Steven Kwan Collects Three Hits, Two RBI Wednesday
There aren't many players seeing the ball as well as Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan right now, as he picked up three hits in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Astros, raising his season average to .360 and extending his personal hitting streak to seven games. During the hit streak, the 26-year-old is 11-for-28 (.393) with a double, two triples, a home run, four RBI, six runs scored, and a stolen base. He's also walked three times and remarkably hasn't struck out even once. His Contact% of 93.1% for the season is tops in the majors for players with at least 100 plate appearances, and with three home runs on the year, he is on pace to set a new personal best with the lefty's six home runs in 2022 his current career high.

Wed Apr 1709:12Steven Kwan Raises Average With Strong Performance
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with two runs and a walk in Tuesday's victory against the Boston Red Sox. The leadoff hitter for the Guardians raised his batting average to an astounding .372 with the strong effort. All three hits were singles, but a hit is a hit. Kwan has been scorching hot with his bat this season, but 25 of his 29 hits have been singles with two doubles and two homers. He also only has three walks on the season for an OBP of .395. With ability to only reach base when he is hitting the ball well, his ceiling is limited, but at the same time he is an asset when he is in the groove of things as he currently is. Kwan could be a good sell-high candidate as he will eventually regress and doesn't offer much in other counting categories. He will look to stay hot on Tuesday versus Tanner Houck and the Red Sox.

Fri Feb 2313:18Steven Kwan To Stick In Left Field
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan, who has won a Gold Glove in each of the last two seasons, will remain as the team's left fielder in 2024, according to manager Stephen Vogt. Kwan hit .268/.340/.370 with five home runs, 36 doubles, seven triples, 54 RBI, 21 stolen bases and 93 runs scored in 718 plate appearances over 158 games in his second year in the big leagues with Cleveland in 2023. The 26-year-old rarely strikes out and will continue to provide a decent batting average and plenty of stolen bases and runs scored for fantasy managers. Just don't expect much power, as he's cleared the fences just 11 times the last two years. You'll have to get your power elsewhere, but Kwan is useful as outfield depth for his runs and steals in rotisserie leagues.

Thu Sep 21 202315:02Steven Kwan Re-Enters Starting Lineup Thursday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan is back in the starting lineup Thursday night against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. Kwan didn't appear in the Guardians' 6-2 loss to the Royals on Wednesday afternoon but will return to the leadoff spot and man left field Thursday in Cleveland. One of the tougher outs in baseball, Kwan is hitting .270 on the season with five homers, 20 stolen bases, and a 9.7% BB% that nearly matches his tiny 10.2% K%. The 26-year-old has logged a two-hit game in three of his last four contests while he's collected two doubles, two runs, and four RBI in that time.

Fri Sep 8 202308:21Steven Kwan Tallies Three Hits Thursday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan had himself a night on Thursday, recording three hits, all singles, in four at-bats with a walk and a run. After an excellent rookie campaign in 2022 in which he hit .298 with a .773 OPS, the 26-year-old hasn't been as productive this season, slashing .271/.338/.373 with five home runs, 82 runs, 48 RBI, and 18 stolen bases. It's still decent numbers for Kwan, as fantasy owners are getting a three-category contributor in standard formats, and they should have no trouble starting him in 12-team leagues.

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves. Kwan is back in action following a one-game absence due to a left shoulder injury. The 25-year-old will cover left field and bat leadoff versus right-hander Bryce Elder on Monday. Mon Jul 3 202309:30Steven Kwan Considered Day-To-Day
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (shoulder) was held out of Sunday's series finale against the Chicago Cubs. Kwan didn't play in the game after suffering a left shoulder injury when crashing into the wall earlier in the series. It doesn't sound like an issue that is going to force him onto the injured list. The Guardians will likely just give him a few days off to rest. Fantasy managers should consider Kwan as day-to-day right now.

Sun Apr 16 202320:38Steven Kwan Collects A Pair Of Hits, Drives In Two More

The 25-year-old contact hitter raised his stat line to .258.354/.318 following Sunday's performance. He's also driven in 10 runs, swiped five bases, and scored eight runs himself. Sat Apr 1 202308:13Steven Kwan Plates Five In Win Over Seattle
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan turned in a big night at the plate in a 9-4 win over the Seattle Mariners on Friday. A night after Cleveland was shut out on Opening Day, Kwan led the offense, going 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and five RBI in the win. Kwan plated his first run with a sacrifice fly in the second inning. He then tacked on a two-run double in the fourth and a two-run single in the fifth. The outfielder finished third in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2022 and appears primed to keep it going in his sophomore campaign. He will face off against Seattle right-hander Logan Gilbert on Saturday and will be a solid fantasy option across the board for that matchup.

Sun Aug 7 202211:53Steven Kwan Returns Against Astros
Cleveland Guardians rookie outfielder Steven Kwan (foot) is back in left field and is hitting leadoff on Sunday against Houston Astros right-hander Cristian Javier. Kwan fouled a ball off his foot on Friday night and was held out of the lineup on Saturday as a precaution. The 24-year-old needs to be returned to starting fantasy lineups in single-year formats. He doesn't supply much power (only two home runs in 346 at-bats), but he's slashing .295/.367/.379 with 28 RBI, 51 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 391 plate appearances over 94 games for Cleveland. He's been hot since the All-Star break, too, going 25-for-70 (.357) with a homer, five RBI, 12 runs scored and four steals in 16 games.

Sat Aug 6 202215:56Steven Kwan Not In The Lineup Saturday Against Houston
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (foot) is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. He exited Friday's game early after fouling a pitch off his left foot. The 24-year-old is slashing .294/.367/.379 with two home runs, 28 RBI, 51 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 94 games in 2022. Andres Gimenez will head leadoff for Saturday's game, while Will Benson handles centerfield duties with Kwan sidelined. Benson has not collected a hit in eight plate appearances since being called up from Triple-A Columbus on August 1. Fantasy managers can avoid using Benson as a streamer in most league formats.

Fri Aug 5 202221:36Steven Kwan Leaves Friday's Game Early
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (foot) left Friday's game against the Houston Astros with a left-foot contusion. Kwan fouled a ball off of his foot during the game and left for precautionary reasons. Before the injury, the rookie outfielder went 0-for-2 at the plate, ending his hit streak at 18 games. Kwan's rookie year has been solid, with the 24-year-old hitting .295 with two homers, 51 runs, 28 RBI, and nine steals over 346 at-bats. It sounds like the injury is minor but look for Cleveland to update Kwan's status after Friday's game concludes.

Sat Jul 23 202210:42Steven Kwan Tallies Three Hits And A Stolen Base Friday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan had three hits in five at-bats on Friday against the Chicago White Sox in the 8-2 victory. All three hits were singles, but he also scored twice and stole his sixth base of the season. Kwan's batting .285 with one home run, 41 runs, 23 RBI, and a .727 OPS across 79 games. The 24-year-old will continue to provide batting average, but not enough to compensate for his lack of power and run production in shallower leagues.

Sun Jun 26 202213:19Steven Kwan Out Against Lefty On Sunday
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against southpaw Rich Hill and the Boston Red Sox. Owen Miller will be leading off for the game while Oscar Gonzalez and Ernie Clement will be the team's corner outfielders. Kwan has been hot at the plate once again in June. He's slashing .362/.400/.406 so far this month after posting a dreadful .173/.271/.253 slash line in May. Even when he's been hitting well this year, Kwan has mostly just been producing an empty batting average for fantasy purposes. Over 56 games on the year, he has accumulated one home run, four stolen bases, 18 RBI and 28 runs.

Thu Apr 28 202214:28Steven Kwan Remains Out Of Lineup
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels. Kwan left the game early on Sunday against the New York Yankees with right hamstring tightness and hasn't played since. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will need a trip to the injured list. The Guardians have used Josh Naylor, Ernie Clement and Richie Palacios in left field since Kwan suffered his injury, and now Oscar Mercado will get the nod in left field while hitting seventh on Thursday against Angels left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers. Kwan has been red-hot early this season, going 15-for-44 with seven RBI and 10 runs scored in his first 14 games, so the Guardians and fantasy managers are eager for his return to the lineup.
