Los Angeles Angels rookie infielder Kyren Paris (thumb) was put on the injured list on Sept. 19 after suffering a left-thumb ligament tear while making a tag at second base on Sept. 16 against the Detroit Tigers. Paris had surgery on his thumb on Monday but will be ready in time for spring training next year, manager Phil Nevin said on Tuesday. The 21-year-old was officially placed on the 60-day injured list on Monday. The team's No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was brought up from Triple-A Salt Lake when rosters expanded on Sept. 1, and he went 4-for-40 (.100) with an RBI, three stolen bases and four runs scored in his first 15 major-league games before injuring his thumb on defense.

Sat Sep 2 202312:29Kyren Paris Gets On Base Twice In Big-League Debut
Los Angeles Angels infield prospect Kyren Paris didn't record a hit in his first major-league game on Friday night against the Oakland Athletics, but he did get on base twice via walk and hit by pitch in four plate appearances in a 9-2 loss. The 21-year-old is the team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and was promoted from Double-A Rocket City on Friday with rosters expanding. In 113 games for the Trash Pandas, he hit .255/.393/.417 with an .810 OPS, 14 home runs, 23 doubles, a triple, 45 RBI, 44 stolen bases and 79 runs scored. At least until fellow rookie Zach Neto (back) returns from the injured list, Paris could get some decent run at the 6 for the out-of-contention Angels in the final month of the 2023 regular season.

Fri Sep 1 202300:18Kyren Paris Getting Called Up To Angels
The Los Angeles Angels are calling up infield prospect Kyren Paris from Double-A Rocket City when rosters expand on Friday. MLB Pipelines No. 6 prospect in the Angels system, the 21-year-old slashed .255/.393/.417 in the minors this year with 14 homers and a whopping 44 steals. He has had strikeout issues, but clearly has a nice power/speed combo that could play well in fantasy. He'll likely see plenty of playing time as the Angels just waived a bunch of their starting players and also have run into a plethora of injuries. They likely want to see what Paris has before the 2024 season, so expect a lot of at-bats down the stretch. He should just be watched for now in most formats, but in deeper leagues he might be worth a flier.
