Sun Sep 26 202107:12Joakim Soria Placed On The COVID-19 List
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Joakim Soria (undisclosed) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Saturday. It's unclear if the 37-year-old tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with someone infected. Soria owned a 5.06 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and a 40:12 K: BB over 37 1/3 innings in 2021. This season, the veteran pitcher has 11 solds (six saves, five holds), but fantasy managers can move on from Soria in most league formats. Left-hander Kirby Snead was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Wed Aug 25 202117:40Joakim Soria Activated From The Injured List
The Toronto Blue Jays activated relief pitcher Joakim Soria (finger) from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. Soria has made just one appearance for the Blue Jays since being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks at the trade deadline. Overall, the veteran has pitched to a 4.15 ERA, a 3.29 FIP, 32 strikeouts, and eight walks in 30.1 innings this season. He rejoins a Toronto bullpen that also includes Brad Hand, Tim Mayza, Adam Cimber, and closer Jordan Romano. Soria should have some fantasy value in leagues where holds are part of the scoring. However, given the number of options in Toronto's bullpen, he's unlikely to pitch in many save situations.

Wed Aug 11 202120:52Tim Mayza, Joakim Soria Could Return From IL Next Week
Toronto Blue Jays relief pitchers Tim Mayza (elbow) and Joakim Soria (finger) could both make their returns from the injured list next week, according to Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. McGrath reports that they could return for the two-game series in Washington on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Mayza landed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with left elbow inflammation, while Soria was placed on the IL with right middle finger inflammation last Wednesday. Mayza has been solid out of the bullpen for Toronto this year, going 2-1 with 13 holds, a 3.75 ERA, 1.056 WHIP and 25 percent strikeout rate across 36 innings. Soria was acquired at the trade deadline by Toronto, and over 30 1/3 innings of work this year between Arizona and Toronto he has gone 1-4 with six saves, a 4.15 ERA, 1.286 WHIP and 25 percent strikeout rate. Both should be solid options in SV/HLD formats when activated.

Wed Aug 4 202118:05Joakim Soria Heads To 10-Day Injured List
Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Joakim Soria (finger), who was recently acquired in a trade, is going on the 10-day injured list with right middle finger inflammation, according to The Athletic. Tayler Saucedo is back with the club in a corresponding move. Soria had modest deep-league fantasy value with the Arizona Diamondbacks this year, going 1-4 with six saves, a 4.30 ERA, 1.330 WHIP and 24.8 percent strikeout rate over 29 1/3 innings of work. He'll figure to be a middle-relief option for the Blue Jays when he returns, making him really only an option in SV/HLD formats.

Fri Jul 30 202119:15Twins trade 2-time All-Star pitcher José Berríos to Toronto
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Despite all the speculation that surrounded José Berríos this month, with the Minnesota Twins nowhere near contention and ready to reload for the future, the right-hander wasn’t ready to accept he could be traded. The news that he was heading to Toronto on Friday brought him and his wife to tears. Then came the really hard part, having to break the news to their three children that he was joining the Blue Jays in a deadline-day deal that sent two highly rated minor leaguers to the Twins. “I know that it will be hard because this year, they are bigger. They are growing up. They know more about life and also some people,” Berríos said, predicting the greatest difficulty for 7-year-old daughter Valentina. Soon-to-be-5-year-old Sebastian and 3-year-old Diego had grown fond of Minneapolis and their friends there, too. Berríos, drafted 32nd overall by the Twins in 2012, debuted with Minnesota in 2015. Though Puerto Rico was their home, he and his wife, Jannieliz, became strongly... [More]
Fri Jul 30 202116:14Joakim Soria Heading North To Toronto
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Joakim Soria has been traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for two players to be named later, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. Soria has had decent value with Arizona this year, going 1-4 with six saves, a 4.30 ERA, 1.330 WHIP and 24.8 percent strikeout rate over 29 1/3 innings of work. He'll figure to be a middle-relief option for the Blue Jays, making him really only an option in SV/HLD formats. With Soria leaving Arizona, Tyler Clippard is now likely next in line for the closer's job for the Diamondbacks.
