Fri Apr 2614:54Bailey Ober Looking To Keep Cruising Friday
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober will look to keep rolling on Friday when he hits the road for a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels. The towering 6-foor-9 righty was lit up for eight earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings in his season debut on March 31 but has since allowed all of two earned runs over his last three starts spanning 17 innings of work. He dominated the Tigers over his last two starts, tossing 12 innings of one-run ball by allowing just five hits and one walk against nine punchouts. He still owns a 4.91 ERA due to his first start of the season but he also sports a 3.98 SIERA and has walked just 5.3% of the hitters he has faced. He'll take on an Angels team that is tied for 19th with a .319 wOBA on the season.

Wed Mar 609:33Bailey Ober Enjoying Nice Spring
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober has made two starts in the Grapefruit League this spring and been very impressive. In two starts thus far, Ober has allowed five runs (one earned), three hits, two walks and struck out 10. Seven of those 10 K's were in his most recent outing. Ober, 28, has had his fair share of injuries in his young career, but made a career-high 26 starts in 2023. In that span, he was 8-6 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 146 strikeouts over 144 1/3 innings. Ober has quietly flown under the radar when health is on his side and with an ADP of 155, he should be able to return strong value in all formats.

Fri Oct 6 202318:09Bailey Ober Gets Game 1 Nod For Twins In ALDS
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober has been named the team's starter for Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Saturday against the Houston Astros on the road. Ober will be coming in on plenty of rest after not pitching in the two-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays in the wild-card series, but he'll have a tough matchup against Houston on his hands. The 28-year-old was sent to the minors for mental and physical rest in September, and he was excellent to close out the regular season with a 2.08 ERA, three walks and 26 strikeouts in 21 2/3 frames over four starts. Ober didn't face the Astros at all in the regular season. He'll be a DFS sleeper on Saturday and has pitched to a 3.57 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 75 K's in 68 innings in his 12 starts on the road in 2023.

Fri Oct 6 202312:15Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober Could Start Game 1 Against Astros
The Minnesota Twins haven't announced who will start for them in Game 1 of the American League Division Series on Saturday against the Houston Astros, but the likeliest candidates are right-hander Joe Ryan, who was scheduled to start Game 3 of the wild-card series against the Toronto Blue Jays, and righty Bailey Ober, who looked great in his final regular season start last Sunday. Ober wasn't included on the roster for the wild-card series, but the Twins have dropped hints he'll pitch at some point in the ALDS. He was sent to the minors in September for mental and physical rest, and he went 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA and 26 K's in 21 2/3 innings since returning on Sept. 15. Ryan hasn't been nearly as great since returning from the Injured List on Aug. 26, and he had a 4.79 ERA in seven second-half starts.

Mon Oct 2 202301:45Bailey Ober Tosses Gem In Regular Season Finale
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was excellent on Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Ober tossed six and two-thirds innings of one-run ball, allowing just two hits and posting a 9:0 K:BB ratio. It is a continuation of what we've seen all season long from the righty, who has posted a 3.43 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 146:29 K:BB ratio over 144 IP. Ober has made a strong case to be included in the Twins rotation during the postseason, but with him pitching on the final day of the regular season he will likely be left off the roster for the Wild Card series. He could make a start in the Division Series should the Twins make it that far.

Fri Sep 15 202312:26Bailey Ober Recalled To Start On Friday
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober has been recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to make the start on Friday against the Chicago White Sox in an excellent matchup. Ober was initially sent to the minors so that the Twins could manage his workload, and the 28-year-old ended up making just one appearance for St. Paul. He's thrown 145 1/3 innings between the majors and minors this year after never surpassing 109 frames in a season before in his career. Ober has a nice 3.67 ERA through 22 starts for the Twins in 2023, and he's unsure if he'll be limited at all the rest of the way. Since the All-Star break, he has a rough 5.85 ERA in eight starts, but the matchup against the Pale Hose will be too good to pass up to kick off the weekend.

Mon Aug 28 202322:17Twins Option Bailey Ober To Triple-A
The Minnesota Twins optioned right-hander Bailey Ober to Triple-A St. Paul in a surprising move on Monday and selected the contract of left-handed reliever Kody Funderburk from the minors in a corresponding move. The team also moved pitcher Oliver Ortega (back) to the 60-day injured list. Ober got the boot to the minors after allowing 22 runs (21 earned) on 39 hits (eight home runs) while walking eight and striking out 30 in 28 innings over his last six starts since July 29. With rosters expanding in September, the 28-year-old might not be away from the Twins for long, and he's had a nice season overall in 2023 with a 3.67 ERA (4.11 FIP), 1.13 WHIP, 26 walks and 120 K's in 122 2/3 frames over his 22 starts in his third big-league season.

Mon Jul 17 202314:25Bailey Ober Hopes To Keep Excelling In Second Half
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober is currently in the midst of a career year for the Twins in just his third major-league season. Through 14 starts in the first half of the season, he's gone 5-4 with a career-best 2.61 ERA (3.39 FIP), 0.97 WHIP, 18 walks and 79 strikeouts in 82 2/3 innings pitched. The 28-year-old right-hander has only allowed over three earned runs in one of his starts in 2023, and it came back on May 22 against the San Francisco Giants. Since then, he's had a 2.66 ERA (3.28 FIP), .215 batting average against, eight walks and 49 strikeouts in 47 1/3 frames over eight starts. In his last start before the All-Star break, Ober held the Baltimore Orioles to just one run with three walks and five K's in six innings pitched in a no-decision. Keep riding him in all fantasy leagues.

Thu Jun 8 202309:59Bailey Ober Toeing The Rubber Thursday
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober will get the ball for Thursday's matchup with Yonny Chirinos and the Tampa Bay Rays. The 27-year-old has done well after stepping into the rotation on April 23, posting a 3-2 record, 2.33 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 22.5% strikeout rate. The Rays will be a tough opponent, with their league-leading .816 OPS, so fantasy managers in shallow leagues may want to leave Ober on their bench, especially considering his lack of strikeouts.

Fri May 5 202321:47Bailey Ober Excellent In Win On Friday
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober was dominant in a 2-0 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. Ober threw seven scoreless innings while allowing three hits, striking out six, and walking one. The 27-year-old hurler finished with 15 swinging strikes and a 31% CSW in the outing. Ober has now made three starts for the Twins in 2023, posting a 2-0 record, 0.98 ERA, 0.87 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts over 18 1/3 innings. With Kenta Maeda sidelined indefinitely by injury, Ober should stick around in the Minnesota rotation for the near future. Up next is a matchup against the San Diego Padres on Thursday.

Sat Apr 29 202310:25Kenta Maeda Goes On IL, Bailey Ober Called Up To Start
The Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Kenta Maeda (triceps) on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with a right-triceps strain and recalled right-hander Bailey Ober from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Things haven't gone well for Maeda early in 2023 in his first season back from Tommy John surgery. He has a 9.00 ERA after four starts and is now on the shelf after leaving his last start early on Thursday against the Yankees. There's no timeline for when he'll be able to return at this point. Ober is getting the nod on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals and will take Maeda's rotation spot for now. Ober had a successful spot start against the Nationals last week and has been pitching well in the minors. The 27-year-old makes for a decent streaming option against KC.

Tue Apr 25 202300:59Bailey Ober Optioned To Triple-A Monday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul Monday. A corresponding move will be announced Tuesday. The move comes after Kenta Maeda (ankle) threw a successful bullpen session while dealing with a left ankle contusion. Ober made a spot start on Sunday and earned the win, allowing one run on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings against the Nationals. However, he started the season as the odd man out of the rotation and will continue to be. This is frustrating, as he was solid last season as well when he did pitch. For now, fantasy managers will have to keep him on the back burner.

Fri Jan 20 202317:42Bailey Ober Could Be Odd Man Out In Twins Rotation
With the addition of right-hander Pablo Lopez via a trade with the Miami Marlins on Friday, the Minnesota Twins got a big addition to their starting rotation. The Twins now have the option of using a six-man rotation or making another trade. They could also be in the position to start right-hander Bailey Ober at Triple-A St. Paul. In addition to Lopez, they also currently have Sonny Gray, Kenta Maeda, Tyler Mahle and Joe Ryan for the rotation. Ober was only able to make 11 starts due to injury in 2022, but he was very solid for the Twins when available, going 2-3 with a 3.21 ERA (2.92 FIP), 1.05 WHIP and 22.5 percent strikeout rate in his second MLB season. The 27-year-old may be out of luck for a rotation spot to begin the season, but if he stays healthy, he should be a rotation contributor at some point in 2023.

Tue Sep 27 202223:20Bailey Ober Dazzles In Win
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was at his best Tuesday, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings against the division-rival Chicago White Sox. He allowed two hits and one walk while striking out a career-high 10 batters, improving his record for the year to 2-3. Ober has missed plenty of time this season with injury, but he continues to show why he was a popular breakout choice in spring training. Fantasy managers can expect one more start from the right-hander this year, and he may be an under-the-radar option heading into 2023 drafts.

Fri Sep 16 202200:23Bailey Ober To Start On Friday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober (groin) will be activated off the injured list to start Friday's game versus the Guardians with Jharel Cotton getting designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Ober hasn't pitched since June 1 after straining his groin, but he's pitched decent in his rehab starts in the minors. He got up to 66 pitches in his latest outing, so he should be stretched out enough to throw about 80 pitches. He'll be a risky fantasy play in his first start back in the majors, but managers could scoop him up and stash him for his start next week versus the Royals.

Mon Aug 29 202221:07Bailey Ober Close To Going On A Rehab Assignment
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (groin) threw a batting practice session on Monday and is now set to begin a rehab assignment in Fort Myers. Ober has been sidelined since June 1 with a groin strain. The veteran hurler will not have time to build his arm back up to start games this season but he will be available in long relief once he returns. Ober has made seven starts in 2022, posting a 1-2 record, 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts over 33 2/3 innings of work.

Sun Aug 21 202213:33Bailey Ober Scheduled For Live Bullpen On Monday
Minnesota Twins right-handed pitcher Bailey Ober (groin) is scheduled for a live bullpen session on Monday. The 6'9" hurler has been out since June 3 with a groin strain but has been progressing towards a late August return to the Twins rotation. If all goes well on Monday, he could begin a minor league rehab assignment shortly thereafter. Ober owns a 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 29:7 K/BB ratio over 33 2/3 innings (seven starts) on the season. He'll give the Twins pitching staff a boost if he's able to return later this month.

Mon Jun 6 202218:11Bailey Ober Goes On Injured List
The Minnesota Twins placed starting pitcher Bailey Ober (groin) on the injured list on Monday. Ober was on the injured list earlier this year with a right groin strain and had made three starts since returning. The Twins also signed right-hander Aaron Sanchez to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A. Ober will miss at least a couple of turns through the Twins rotation with another groin strain. The 26-year-old right-hander hasn't been very sharp of late and is now sporting a 4.01 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the season while walking seven and striking out 29 in 33 2/3 innings over his first seven starts of the year for Minnesota.

Thu Jun 2 202213:13Bailey Ober Takes Second Loss Wednesday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober took the loss against the Detroit Tigers Wednesday, allowing five runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out four batters and did not give up a walk. Ober now has a 1-2 record on the season to go with his 4.01 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 29 strikeouts in 33 2/3 innings. Ober has only turned in one quality start on the season, and while he's a popular breakout pick due to his excellent command, some fantasy managers in shallower leagues may want to consider whether they'd be better served using Ober's roster spot to stream players in daily formats.

Sat May 21 202209:37Bailey Ober Will Be Activated To Start Sunday
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober (groin) will be activated from the 10-day injured list and he will start Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The 26-year-old was off to a nice start to the year before he was sidelined with right groin tightness. Over four starts this season, he's gone 1-1 with a 2.75 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. To clear a roster spot for Ober, fellow right-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer will be optioned to Triple-A.
