Wed May 1501:09Keaton Winn Dealing With Forearm Tightness
San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (forearm) left his start early on Tuesday against the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers during the fifth inning due to right-forearm tightness. Before leaving, Winn's struggles in 2024 continued, as he gave up five more earned runs on five hits (one home run) while walking three and striking out four to raise his season ERA to 6.17. The 26-year-old is now 3-6 on the year after the loss and could be headed to the injured list soon, depending on what the results of his MRI exam on Wednesday show. His next start is scheduled to come on Sunday in a favorable matchup against the Colorado Rockies in San Francisco, but it remains to be seen if he'll be able to pitch then. If Winn is forced to miss more than one start, the Giants could elect to bring back rookie Mason Black.

Tue Apr 2311:27Keaton Winn Strikes Out Six In Monday’s Win
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Keaton Winn had a strong performance in Monday's 5-2 win over the New York Mets. Winn pitched well through six innings with six strikeouts while allowing just four hits, one homer, and one batter walked. After a rough start to the season, the Giants pitcher has mellowed out and secured two-straight wins, bringing his season record to 2-3 with a 3.54 ERA and 7.39 K/9 rate through his first five starts. He is a pitcher to keep stashed across all formats, with a nice matchup versus the Pirates in his next start.

Wed Mar 600:18Keaton Winn Progressing To Live Batting Practice
San Francisco Giants pitcher Keaton Winn (elbow) has progressed from throwing bullpen sessions to live batting practice, per the Athletic's Andrew Baggarly. The 26-year-old has been dealing with right elbow inflammation but is slowly showing signs of health improvements. It is unclear when he will be cleared to pitch in spring training games, but the Giants will take any positives at this time, as their pitching staff is dealing with numerous injuries. Winn made nine appearances (five starts) last season, going 1-3 with a 4.68 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 20.3% strikeout rate. If healthy, he will likely start the season in the team's rotation.

Thu Feb 2912:28Keaton Winn, Alex Cobb Set For Bullpens
San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) will throw a bullpen session this weekend, while right-hander Alex Cobb (hip) will throw a bullpen on Thursday. People around camp have been impressed with how far along Cobb seems to be, but he'll still miss a big chunk of time at the start of the year. Meanwhile, Tristan Beck (arm), who was the favorite for the No. 5 rotation spot to begin the year, was diagnosed with an aneurysm in his arm and could need surgery. Winn cut his last bullpen short over a week ago due to right-elbow soreness. It's unclear when the 26-year-old will be cleared to pitch in spring training games, but the Giants are holding out hope he'll be ready to be in the team's Opening Day rotation. With Beck hurt, Sean Hjelle is the favorite now for the final rotation spot in San Francisco.

Wed Feb 2117:05Keaton Winn Dealing With Elbow Soreness, Not Too Worried
San Francisco Giants right-hander Keaton Winn (elbow) felt some right-elbow soreness during his last bullpen session, but an MRI exam came back clean and he'll be shut down in camp for a few days. With Robbie Ray (elbow) and Alex Cobb (hip) out for the first half of the 2024 season, Winn is currently the team's No. 4 starter. Despite the injury, Winn isn't too concerned and thinks he'll be ready for Opening Day. Tristan Beck is the favorite for the final rotation spot in San Fran. If Winn ends up not being ready for the start of the season, Spencer Howard and Daulton Jefferies could be options to fill in early on in April in the Giants' rotation. Winn, 26, made his big-league debut in 2023 and looked good, striking out 35 and walking only eight in five starts and four relief outings in 42 1/3 innings.

Tue Feb 2016:24Keaton Winn, Tristan Beck Front-Runners For Final Rotation Spots
San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that right-handers Keaton Winn and Tristan Beck are the front-runners for the final two starting-rotation spots to open up the 2024 season behind Logan Webb, Kyle Harrison and Jordan Hicks. Winn, 26, had a 4.68 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with a save, eight walks and 35 K's in 42 1/3 frames over nine outings (five starts) in his rookie year in 2023. Opponents hit the ball really hard off him, though, so fantasy managers in NL-only leagues shouldn't expect much if he wins a rotation spot to open the year. Beck, 27, had a 3.92 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with two saves, 21 walks and 68 K's in 85 innings over 33 outings (three starts) in his rookie season in 2023. Beck was considerably better in relief than in his three starts. Both Winn and Beck will be keeping rotation spots warm for Robbie Ray (elbow) and ... [More]

Thu Sep 28 202321:43Keaton Winn To Start On Friday
San Francisco Giants rookie right-hander Keaton Winn (illness) will make his final start of the year on Friday against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. He will be making his return for the first time since being placed on the COVID list on Sept. 19, so he'll be a risky fantasy streamer for anyone still playing for something in the final weekend of the regular season. The 25-year-old rookie has held his own, though, in his first eight big-league appearances (four starts), posting a 3.89 ERA (3.66 FIP), 1.03 WHIP, only eight walks and 30 strikeouts in 37 innings pitched. Winn has some interesting long-term upside for San Francisco, but he also hasn't thrown more than 80 pitches in any of his outings for the Giants this year.

Mon Jun 12 202314:24Giants Call Up Keaton Winn Monday
The San Francisco Giants recalled right-handed pitching prospect Keaton Winn from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday and optioned right-hander Tristan Beck to Sacramento after Sunday's game in a corresponding move. Winn, the team's No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make his major-league debut when he gets into a game after going 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, 21 walks and 51 strikeouts in 41 1/3 innings over 12 appearances (nine starts) this year for Sacramento. The 25-year-old is expected to give the Giants some length in a multi-inning relief role, so he won't have much fantasy value, if any. Winn's arsenal has improved on the farm and he's developed into an interesting starting option for San Fran. He relies mostly on a fastball-slider combination and is known for pounding the zone.
