Slowey has joined the Major League Baseball Players' Association as a special assistant to executive director Tony Clark, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Tue Mar 31 201510:25Slowey released by Phillies on Tuesday
Slowey was released by the Phillies on Tuesday, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports.
While Slowey didn't earn a spot in the starting rotation, his release doesn't necessarily mean that Sean O'Sullivan will get the job, according to Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News. The Phillies could look at someone from their bullpen, or else explore external options.

Manager Ryne Sandberg indicated Wednesday that Slowey remains in competition for the final spot in the Phillies' rotation, CSN Philadelphia reports.
Slowey's last four outing have been in relief, so the signs do not point to him getting the job. He is competing with Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Sean O'Sullivan.

Slowey tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox.
Slowey is said to be in the mix for a rotation spot, but he has worked only one inning in two of his last three appearances, and the other outing was 1.2 innings. The usage pattern indicates the Phillies are looking at Slowey for a bullpen spot and not a starting role. He could find his way into the rotation later this season if the Phillies do decide to start him out in the pen.
Sat Mar 21 201506:48Slowey remains in mix for final spot in Phillies' rotation
Slowey remains in the mix for the final spot in the Phillies' rotation, CSN Philadelphia reports.
The Phils have one opening in their rotation with Cliff Lee looking at potential season-ending surgery and Chad Billingsley not expected to be ready until late-April. Slowey is competing with Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Paul Clemens for the job. It is likely down to Slowey and Gonzalez given Clemens' recent struggles. Slowey has a 2.35 ERA and a 5:2 K:BB ratio in 7.2 innings this spring.

Slowey went three perfect innings with two strikeouts Sunday in his second start of the spring.
Slowey is competing with David Buchanan and Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez for the final spot in the Phillies' rotation. It is possible the Phillies will have two spots open if Cliff Lee (elbow) needs to miss extended time or if Cole Hamels is traded prior to the start of the regular season.
Mon Dec 22 201418:14Slowey signed minor league deal
Slowey signed a minor league deal, which includes a spring training invite, with the Phillies on Monday, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports.
Slowey appeared in 17 games for the Marlins last season before being released in late-June. He compiled a disappointing 5.30 ERA, allowing 22 earned runs and three homers over 37.1 cumulative innings. The 30-year-old put together three straight double-digit win seasons from 2008-10 with the Twins, but he didn't find the same success in Miami. He'll compete for a roster spot with the Phillies in spring training.

MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports that "it appears" Kevin Slowey will start on Sunday against the Mariners.
The Marlins are sending Brad Hand back to the bullpen after a pair of ineffective starts. Slowey holds a 4.38 ERA and 7/4 K/BB ratio over 12 1/3 relief inning this season. He put up a 4.21 ERA in 14 starts with the Marlins last season.

Sun Mar 30 201417:00Kevin Slowey breaks camp with Marlins
Marlins selected the contract of RHP Kevin Slowey.
The 29-year-old right-hander pitched well in Grapefruit League play, posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.61 WHIP and 11/1 K/BB ratio over 16 1/3 innings. His versatility, in being able to start and relieve, was a key factor in making the roster. Unless he's in the rotation though, he doesn't hold any fantasy value.

Fri Mar 28 201421:47Slowey holds Yanks hitless over three innings
Kevin Slowey pitched three perfect innings in his final spring outing against the Yankees on Friday.
Slowey put the cherry on top of a very nice spring, striking out two while posting zeros across the rest of the board in his three innings. Slowey leaves exhibition play with a 2.20 ERA over 16 1/3 innings. He's in camp as a non-roster invitee, and if he can't break camp with the club he'll likely catch on with another starter-needy team.

Sun Mar 16 201417:14Kevin Slowey gives up two runs to Twins
Facing his old team, Kevin Slowey was charged with two runs in five innings Sunday in a no-decision against the Twins.
One of the runs was a result of Oswaldo Arcia's flyball getting lost in the sun. Slowey is having a fine spring, but with Tom Koehler in the lead for a rotation spot and Brad Hand out of options, it doesn't figure to result in Slowey making the Marlins. Perhaps another team will pick him up.

Wed Mar 5 201417:13Kevin Slowey throws 2 2/3 scoreless innings
Kevin Slowey pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief Wednesday against the Mets.

Sat Mar 1 201417:22Kevin Slowey strikes out four in win
Kevin Slowey fanned four over two scoreless innings as a Marlins split-squad routed the Mets 9-1 on Saturday.
Slowey is in the mix with Tom Koehler and Andrew Heaney for the fifth spot in Miami's rotation. He was solid last year, posting a 4.11 ERA in 92 innings before getting hurt, but since he's less reliable than Koehler and he doesn't have Heaney's ceiling, he seems like a long shot to make the team this spring.

Wed Jan 8 201411:42Marlins re-sign Slowey to minors deal
Marlins re-signed RHP Kevin Slowey to a minor league contract.
Slowey posted a 4.11 ERA and 76/18 K/BB ratio over 92 innings last season with the Marlins before going down with a strained right forearm. Assuming he's healthy, the veteran right-hander could surface in the starting rotation at some point in 2014.

Sun Sep 1 201307:23Marlins transfer Kevin Slowey to 60-day DL
Marlins transferred RHP Kevin Slowey to the 60-day disabled list.
The move all but effectively rules out any chance of Slowey returning to the Fish before the end of the season. The 29-year-old right-hander, who has been shelved since July 26, had a solid comeback campaign in 2013, posting a 4.11 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 76/18 K/BB ratio over 92 innings between the rotation and the bullpen.

Mon Jul 29 201318:48Kevin Slowey (forearm) out 4-6 weeks
Kevin Slowey is expected to miss 4-6 weeks after an MRI Monday revealed a strained right forearm muscle.
Slowey felt discomfort while warming up in the bullpen Saturday and was placed on the DL after the game. Given where the Marlins are in the standings, it's certainly possible that it could wind up being a season-ending injury. "As much as I want to figure that out right now, I know I'm just best off taking it one day at a time," Slowey said.

Marlins placed RHP Kevin Slowey on the 15-day disabled list with right forearm discomfort.
Slowey felt some pain in his arm while throwing in the bullpen during Saturday's game. A corresponding roster move will be made before Sunday's series finale with the Pirates. Slowey is 3-6 with a 4.11 ERA this season.
