RHP Kevin Jepsen gave up a two-run home run for the loss Sunday against Toronto. He has allowed runs in six of his past nine outings, and his 11 home runs allowed are tied for fourth most among AL relievers.

RHP Kevin Jepsen was signed by the Rays after being released by the Twins last week.Jepsen had a key set-up role last season with Tampa Bay before being dealt to Minnesota at the trade deadline and could quickly move into a high-leverage role for the Rays again. He pitched a scoreless ninth Friday in his season debut with the Rays, needing only 12 pitches.

RHP Kevin Jepsen was released by the Twins on Monday. Jepsen was designated for assignment last week and went through waivers unclaimed. The 31-year-old right-hander posted a 2-5 mark with a gaudy 6.16 ERA and 22 walks in 30 2/3 innings with Minnesota this season. He had four blown saves among 11 opportunities in 2016 in the wake of Glen Perkins' injury in April. Acquired from Tampa Bay on July 31, Jepsen was far more successful for the Twins last season. He posted a 1-1 mark with a 1.61 ERA in 29 appearances, saving all but one of his 11 opportunities.

RHP Kevin Jepsen was designated for assignment on Sunday. Jepsen was 2-5 with a 6.16 ERA and seven saves in 33 games this season with Minnesota.

RHP Kevin Jepsen has not allowed a run in his last four appearances, covering 3 2/3 innings. The last time he allowed a run came June 5 against Tampa Bay. However, Jepsen already has allowed 15 extra-base hits, after never allowing more than 14 in any season before this year.

RHP Kevin Jepsen posted his fifth save of the season after the Twins' defense bailed him out in the ninth. Jepsen walked the first batter of the inning, then gave up a single to put runners at the corners, but a game-ending double play got him out of the jam.

RHP Kevin Jepsen avoided salary arbitration with Minnesota by agreeing to a one-year deal worth $5,312,500 on Friday. Jepsen, who made $3.025 million last season, had requested a salary of $5.4 million. The Twins offered $5.05 million. Jepsen had a 1.61 ERA and 10 saves in 29 games with the Twins after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 31. Overall, he went 3-6 with a 2.33 ERA and 15 saves last season. Jepsen spent his first seven major-league seasons with the Los Angeles Angels before joining Tampa Bay prior to the 2015 campaign.

Handed a 2-1 lead in the ninth inning, Jepsen suffered his fifth blown save of the season by giving up two runs on four hits in Wednesday's loss to Detroit.

It was Jepsen's first blown save out of eight save attempts since being traded to Minnesota and moving to the closer role with Glen Perkins hurt. Perkins is making progress in his return from back injury, but Jepsen is still likely to remain the closer for the next week or so as Perkins will be used in a setup role initially. Perkins may never return to the closer role given that he hasn't been able to stay healthy since receiving two cortisone shots for a bulging disc in his neck on Aug. 19.

Jepsen earned his 12th save Wednesday night, striking out one over a scoreless frame in a 3-2 win over the Royals.

Jepsen continues to pitch well in Glen Perkins' absence, converting each of his last seven save opportunities. While Jepsen doesn't have particularly overpowering stuff for a closer, he's been efficient in reducing walks since being awarded the role. With manager Paul Molitor recently giving him a vote of confidence, look for Jepsen to remain in the mix for saves throughout the season.

Jepsen notched his 11th save despite surrendering two hits, one earned run and two walks in a 3-2 victory over the Astros on Saturday. He struck out one.

Despite the shaky outing, Jepsen remained a perfect 6-for-6 in save opportunities with the Twins. The ninth-inning solo homer he surrendered to Jed Lowrie was also the first earned run he'd yielded since his initial appearance as a member of the Twins back on Aug. 2. Jepsen continues to fill the closer role for the team admirably while Glen Perkins continues to recover from back spasms.

Jepsen should serve as the Twins' closer for the foreseeable future, as Glen Perkins (back spasms) won't travel on the team's upcoming road trip, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

The Twins don't return home until Sept. 14, so Jepsen will be the closer for at least the next 10 games, and quite possibly beyond that. He has pitched on two straight days, so it's possible he won't be available for Thursday's day game, but he is certainly worth grabbing in leagues where saves are at a premium.
