Tue Apr 218:38Ryan Brasier Named As Tuesday's Opener
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Ryan Brasier will take the ball as the opener for Tuesday's game against the San Francisco Giants. The right-hander will get the starting nod in what appears to be a bullpen game for the Dodgers. The expectation is that Brasier will pitch one or two innings before handing it off to the rest of the pen. Ryan Yarbrough and Michael Grove figure to pitch the bulk of the innings on Tuesday. This is a situation to be avoided by fantasy managers.

Mon Feb 514:14Ryan Brasier Signs Two-Year Deal With Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed free-agent relief pitcher Ryan Braiser to a two-year, $9 million contract. Brasier can earn as much as $13 million over the two seasons through incentives. Brasier latched on with the Dodgers in the 2023 season following a rough stretch with the Boston Red Sox that saw him pitch to a 7.29 ERA across 20 appearances. He would go on to dominate with the Dodgers, posting an eye-popping 0.70 ERA across 39 appearances, picking up one save in the process. Brasier has posted an ERA of 2.00 or better in parts of three big-league seasons but also posted a 5.78 ERA as recently as 2022. All told, the right-hander owns a career 3.88 ERA in 268 appearances, collecting 10 saves in that time.

Wed Jan 3122:44Cardinals, Ryan Brasier Engage In Ongoing Talks
Free-agent relief pitcher Ryan Brasier and the St. Louis Cardinals have "engaged in talks," according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch. The Cardinals aren't alone, though, as Goold notes "they are one of several teams" in negotiations with the veteran right-hander. Brasier was cut loose by the Red Sox after a woeful start to the 2023 season, but he signed with the Dodgers and quickly bounced back. Over 38 2/3 innings with Los Angeles, he posted a fantastic 0.70 ERA, 2.48 FIP, 8.84 K/9, and 2.33 BB/9. After a strong finish to the 2023 campaign, it appears Brasier may be vying for a major-league contract ahead of spring training.

Mon Jun 5 202312:42Dodgers Sign Ryan Brasier To Minor-League Deal
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent right-hander Ryan Brasier to a minor-league deal on Monday. Brasier was released by the Boston Red Sox on May 21 after he allowed 18 runs (17 earned) on 24 hits (two home runs) while walking nine and striking out 18 in 21 relief innings for the team in 2023. The 35-year-old veteran reliever will likely report to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he'll provide relief depth for the organization. In his seven-year major-league career, Brasier has a 4.45 ERA (3.81 FIP), 1.25 WHIP, nine saves and 23.8 percent strikeout rate in 218 2/3 innings pitched over 229 appearances (one start). He recorded seven of his nine career saves in 2019 with Boston.

Mon May 15 202309:19Ryan Brasier Designated For Assignment Monday
The Boston Red Sox have designated Ryan Brasier for assignment on Monday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. The 35-year-old has struggled mightily on the bump, pitching to a 7.29 ERA and 1.57 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 21 innings and hasn't been a productive arm since 2021. With Brasier off the roster, it opens up a spot for Joely Rodriguez (oblique), who the club will activate from the injured list on Monday. Neither transaction has many ramifications in fantasy leagues unless the 31-year-old Rodriguez plays into some high-leverage appearances and can muster a handful of holds.

Mon Apr 17 202307:58Ryan Brasier Completes The Save Sunday
With Kenley Jansen and John Schreiber pitching back-to-back days, the Boston Red Sox turned to right-hander Ryan Brasier for the ninth inning to protect a 2-1 lead during Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. He threw a successful frame, allowing no runs or hits and striking out one to earn his first save of the season. Brasier now owns a 4.82 ERA with eight strikeouts and four walks across 9.1 innings so far in 2023. The 35-year-old struggled a season ago, posting a 5.78 ERA, although his 24.3% strikeout rate and 3.61 FIP were much more impressive. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect many saves the rest of the way from Brasier, but if he improves his numbers, he should be in line for a handful of holds.

Fri May 20 202211:26Ryan Brasier Likely To Be Optioned
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Ryan Brasier is expected to be optioned to Triple-A on Friday. This move is to make room for Michael Wacha who is coming off the injured list. The right-hander is scheduled to make the start against the Seattle Mariners on Friday. Brasier has a rough 6.28 ERA this season, so he probably shouldn't be rostered in any fantasy formats anyway. He'll likely be back in the big league bullpen at some point during the summer.

Fri May 20 202209:38Ryan Brasier Optioned To Triple-A
The Boston Red Sox optioned relief pitcher Ryan Brasier to Triple-A on Thursday. The move was made to clear space for Michael Wacha (intercostal), who will be returning from the injured list to start Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Brasier has been a trainwreck out of the bullpen this year, as have many of the team's relievers. He's made 18 appearances and he's pitched to a 6.28 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP. He has earned two save opportunities and has failed to record either.

Tue Sep 21 202121:07Ryan Brasier Recalled By Red Sox On Tuesday
The Boston Red Sox called up relief pitcher Ryan Brasier from Triple-A prior to Tuesday's game against the New York Mets. The team sent fellow reliever Garrett Whitlock (pectoral) to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Brasier has made just five appearances for the Red Sox this year and he has a 4.15 ERA and a 2.54 WHIP. Whitlock was one of the team's top setup men. Brasier likely won't see high-leverage work going forward. Hansel Robles, Josh Taylor and Garrett Richards figure to be the team's primary high-leverage arms in front of the team's primary closer Adam Ottavino.

Wed Jul 28 202114:36Ryan Brasier Will Throw Live BP On Sunday
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Ryan Brasier (calf, head) will throw a live bullpen session in Worcester, MA on Sunday. If he throws well in the BP then he will likely remain with the Triple-A club to pitch in some simulated games next week. He's yet to pitch in the majors this season while dealing with a concussion and a calf strain but it sounds like he should return by mid-August if all goes well. He put up a 3.96 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 30:11 K/BB across 25 innings last season. He won't have much value in fantasy as he won't operate as a closer but he'll be a boost to Boston's bullpen in real life.

Thu Sep 17 202017:02Eovaldi shuts down Marlins in 5-3 victory
MIAMI (AP) — Nathan Eovaldi pitched five shutout innings and struck out seven, and the Miami Marlins stumbled in their playoff run with a 5-3 loss to the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. Rafael Devers had a three-run homer, Kevin Plawecki hit a two-run single and Alex Verdugo had three hits for the Red Sox. Seeking its first postseason appearance since winning the 2003 World Series, Miami is second in the NL East . The Marlins fell three games behind division-leading Atlanta, which was idle. Miguel Rojas singled but Eovaldi struck out Jazz Chisholm and Chad Wallach, then retired Corey Dickerson on a groundout. A 30-year-old right-hander who was with the Marlins from 2012-14, Eovaldi was lifted after 76 pitches in his second appearance since returning Sept. 12 a stint on the injured list caused by a strained right calf.
