PITTSBURGH (AP) — Outfielder Daniel Nava has finalized a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and will report to major league spring training.Now 34, Nava batted .301 with eight doubles, four homers and 21 RBIs in 80 games for Philadelphia last year. OF Daniel Nava (back) saw a doctor Thursday then returned to Nationals Park, according to manager Pete Mackanin. Nava is hitting .301 in 80 games.

LF Daniel Nava got his first start since Aug. 8 on Monday night against Atlanta, after pinch-hitting in each of three prior games against the Chicago Cubs. Nava, who missed 13 games from Aug. 12-24 due to a stint on the DL (lower back strain), went 1-for-4 with a run scored; he's hitting .298 on the season.

OF Daniel Nava (strained lower back) was activated from the disabled list Friday before the Phillies beat the Cubs 7-1. Nava, who hadn't played since Aug. 11, did not get on base in a pinch-hitting appearance. Nava took the roster spot vacated by RHP Jake Thompson, who was sent back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley Thursday night.
