Mon Feb 1912:02Mike Trout Doesn't Want To Be Traded Right Now
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout said that he's happy in Anaheim right now, but he also left open the possibility that he'd be open to a trade down the line. Trout also said he's been pushing ownership to make more additions heading into the 2024 regular season, but he's unsure if will actually happen. General manager Perry Minasian said this winter that the Angels have no interest in trading the 32-year-old future Hall of Famer. The Angels have wasted one of the best players of all time, as Trout has made only one postseason appearance in his 13 big-league seasons. The three-time American League MVP has been hurt by injuries in recent seasons. He played in just 82 games in 2023 and has become a big injury risk on the wrong side of 30. Still, when healthy, Trout has the ability to be a difference-maker in everything but stolen bases.

Tue Dec 5 202313:11Mike Trout Will Not Be Traded This Offseason
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout will not be traded this offseason, according to general manager Perry Minasian. It's something that was likely never going to happen, but Minasian said it definitively on Tuesday at the winter meetings in Nashville, Tennessee. The Angels are expected to lose out on re-signing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this winter, which makes all the more reason to hang onto Trout, even if he's showing signs of age and coming off a hand/wrist injury that basically kept him sidelined for the entire second half of the 2023 season. The 32-year-old played in only 82 games for the Halos this past season and slashed .263/.367/.490 with an .858 OPS, 18 home runs, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored. With better health, the 32-year-old future Hall of Famer should be able to bounce back for fantasy managers.

Mon Nov 20 202323:57Mike Trout Not Going Anywhere
Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian reiterated that outfielder Mike Trout will be playing with the team in 2024 after several large-market teams privately inquired about his availability in a trade. The Angels will likely lose two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this offseason, but they plan on keeping Trout around. Now 32, Trout, an 11-time All-Star and three-time MVP, had a down year in 2023 and finished with a .263 batting average (81-for-308) with 18 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 44 RBI, two stolen bases and 54 runs scored in 82 games played. He suffered a fractured hamate bone on July 3 and ended up playing in just one game in the second half of the season before ultimately being shut down. Trout should be able to rebound with better health in 2024, but he's no longer in contention as the top overall pick in fantasy drafts.

Mon Sep 25 202312:00Mike Trout's Season Is Over
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) was moved to the 60-day injured list on Sunday, and manager Phil Nevin said that Trout's season is over. Trout was hoping to return for the final week of the regular season, but he's not going to end up making it back after all. The 32-year-old fractured the hamate bone in his left hand/wrist in early July and made it back for one game in August before aggravating his wrist and going back on the injured list. He will finish his 2023 campaign with a .263/.367/.490 slash line with 18 home runs and 44 RBI in 362 plate appearances. Trout is no longer in his prime and is much more of an injury risk than ever before, but he should be fully healthy and ready to contribute for the start of the 2024 season.

Sat Sep 23 202312:05Mike Trout Hits Off Tee
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) hit off a tee on Friday, and there's still a chance he returns at some point during the final week of the season, although time is running out. Trout returned from the injured list on Aug. 22 after missing 38 games with a fractured left-hamate bone, but he played in just one game before going back on the injured list on Aug. 25. He said he returned too soon and the pain was affecting the way he was swinging the bat, but he said he still expects to return in 2023. Further testing on his hand on Sept. 4 showed no structural damage. In yet another season that will end with no trip to the postseason for the 32-year-old, Trout is hitting .263/.367/.490 with 18 home runs, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 308 at-bats.

Mon Sep 18 202314:58Mike Trout Will Start Swinging Soon
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is traveling with the team on their current road trip and will starting swinging a bat soon. The 11-time All-Star didn't have any setbacks while taking dry swings earlier this month, so he's now ready to take the next step with an eye on returning to close out the 2023 campaign in yet another season that will end without a playoff appearance for the superstar outfielder. Trout fractured his left hamate bone in early July and returned from the injured list on Aug. 22, but he played in just one game before experiencing soreness in his hand/wrist and going back on the IL. Even if the 32-year-old is able to return in the final weeks of the season, there won't be much time for him to make an impact in fantasy.

Sun Sep 10 202313:14Angels Could Be Open To Trading Mike Trout
USA Today's Bob Nightengale hears that "the Los Angeles Angels, perhaps for the first time, are open to trading All-Star outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) if he indicates to them that he wants out". Nightengale also reports that "Trout wants to have a private conversation with the front office and ownership about their direction". While it remains to be see if the Angels can retain impending free agent Shohei Ohtani this winter, they may be willing to explore what the trade market has to offer for their oft-injured 32-year-old superstar. But as Nightengale also notes, Trout owns a full no-trade clause and wouldn't land the Angels the same compensation he may have once demanded since he will have missed 249 games in the last three years if he remains out for 2023.The three-time MVP still holds seven years left on his deal, so he may turn out to be a tough sell despite slashing .283/.382/.579 with 66 home runs, 59 doubles, 142 RBI, and 162 runs scored in 237 games since 2021.

Tue Sep 5 202323:10Mike Trout Expects To Return This Year
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) said he expects to return this year. He initially returned from the injured list on Aug. 22 after missing 38 games with a fractured left hamate bone, but he played in just one game before going right back on the injured list on Aug. 25. Trout admitted he returned too soon from the injury, but further testing on his hand showed no structural damage on Sept. 4. It will be about pain tolerance for Trout once he's ready to resume swinging a bat again. With the Angels now well out of playoff contention with the end of the season quickly approaching, fantasy managers may not get the 32-year-old perennial All-Star back again this year.

Sat Aug 26 202310:23Mike Trout Wants To Return This Season
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (hand) told reporters on Friday that he'd like to return to action this season. The 32-year-old rejoined the team on Tuesday after missing nearly two months after undergoing hamate bone surgery. His return did not go well, however, as he felt a lot of pain in his left hand during his plate appearances. The Angels subsequently placed Trout back on the injured list on Friday but he still has some optimism that he could return this season. "I'm just going to make sure it's fully healed before I get back out there," he told reporters. Trout's initial timeline after he underwent surgery in early July was four to eight weeks and Tuesday's return was just a day under the seven-week mark. It sounds like he didn't suffer a setback and is just dealing with soreness but the veteran outfielder won't rush into things. It remains to be seen when he'll be back out there in what is yet another lost season for the Angels.

Thu Aug 24 202301:29Mike Trout Going Back On Injured List
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is going back on the 10-day injured list and won't do any baseball activities for 10 days. General manager Perry Minasian is hoping that Trout will be able to return before the end of the season. Coupled with the news that two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) will miss the rest of the year as a pitcher due to a torn UCL in his right elbow, Wednesday has been a terrible day for the Angels on top of getting swept in a series by the Cincinnati Reds. Trout just came off the injured list on Tuesday and played in his first game since fracturing the hamate bone in his left wrist in early July, but he had more soreness in his hand on Wednesday and didn't play in either game of the doubleheader. With the Halos quickly falling out of playoff contention, there's no guarantee that the 32-year-old three-time MVP will be back again in 2023.

Wed Aug 23 202320:13Mike Trout Out For Game 2 Of Doubleheader
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) will miss the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the visiting Cincinnati Reds after he felt discomfort in his surgically repaired left hand in his return from the injured list on Tuesday. Trout is sitting out for both ends of the doubleheader on Wednesday, but the Angels aren't concerned and expected Trout to be sore. With an off day coming on Thursday, the three-time MVP has a good shot at returning to the lineup for the start of a series in New York against the Mets on Friday. The 32-year-old was on the shelf for six weeks due to a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, but now that he's back, he should be in starting fantasy lineups when he's in the Halos lineup.

Wed Aug 23 202316:02Mike Trout Out With Soreness In Game 1 Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday for the first game of a doubleheader against the visiting Cincinnati Reds due to some soreness after Tuesday's game, but it's not a concern. The Angels expected Trout to be sore after his first game back from the injured list. It's still unknown if he will be included in the starting lineup for Game 2. Mickey Moniak is starting in center field and is hitting eighth in the order against Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott. Trout went 1-for-4 with a strikeout on Tuesday night in his first game back in the big leagues since July 3. Even if he doesn't play at all on Wednesday, he should be back in the starting lineup on Friday against the New York Mets after an off day on Thursday.

Tue Aug 22 202318:20Mike Trout Officially Activated On Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) has been officially activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The superstar outfielder is back in the lineup after being sidelined since July 5 due to left hamate fracture. Trout will bat second and play center field versus right-hander Graham Ashcraft on Tuesday. This season, Trout is slashing .263/.309/.493 with 18 home runs and 44 RBI in 81 games. The hope is that the wrist injury doesn't impact his swing going forward. Fantasy managers should make sure to get Trout back in their lineups.

Mon Aug 21 202316:52Mike Trout Likely To Return Tuesday
Despite the fact that Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin isn't guaranteeing outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) will come off the injured list on Tuesday, it's still most likely that Trout will be back on Tuesday after the club already optioned outfielder Jordyn Adams to the minors on Sunday. The Angels plan to evaluate Trout before reinstating him on Tuesday. The start of the Angels series against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday was postponed due to inclement weather. The 32-year-old three-time MVP fractured the hamate bone in his left hand/wrist in early July, but he's already seen live pitching and should return any day now. Fantasy managers will want to get Trout back in their starting lineups immediately, and hopefully his hand/wrist injury won't affect his swing the rest of the way.

Sun Aug 20 202312:30Mike Trout Very Close To Returning
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) took some swings in the indoor batting cages on Saturday, and manager Phil Nevin said the three-time American League MVP is very close to returning. However, Nevin didn't want to say if Trout could be activated from the injured list on Monday. Trout, who has been out since early July after breaking the hamate bone in his left hand also took swings against live pitching on Thursday and could return to the Angels lineup any day now. The 32-year-old could be back in the lineup as early as Monday against the Cincinnati Reds. It remains to be seen if the fractured hamate bone will affect Trout's swing down the stretch, but he'll remain a must-start in fantasy lineups upon his return. The Angels desperately need all the help they can get as they push for a playoff spot.

Fri Aug 18 202319:21Mike Trout Faces Live Pitching, Could Return Any Day
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) faced live pitching on the team's off day on Thursday. Trout isn't ready to return from the injured list on Friday, but it sounds as though he could return to the team any day now. The 32-year-old three-time MVP and perennial All-Star is trying to return for the first time since fracturing his left hamate bone in early July on a hit by pitch. The Angels don't want to rush him back too soon, but they're also running out of time to make a big push for a wild-card spot in the American League. Trout could see more rest days than usual upon his return, but he's always a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's on the field. He'll be returning to a .263/.369/.493 slash line with an .862 OPS, 18 home runs, 14 doubles, a triple, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 358 plate appearances (81 games).

Wed Aug 16 202321:31Mike Trout To Face Live Pitching On Thursday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) is hopeful to begin hitting against live pitching on Thursday. The superstar outfielder recently progressed to hitting off a pitching machine. That is good news is his recovery process from his left hamate fracture. The 32-year-old has been sidelined since early July and remains without a clear timetable. The fact he's back to facing live pitching is a great sign, but he's still not ready to play yet. The hope is that the Angels give a better timetable within the next few days.

Tue Aug 15 202320:25Still No Timetable For Mike Trout's Return
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) said he's been hitting off a pitching machine, but he has yet to face full velocity. There is still some pain in his left wrist when he swings, but he's getting better. There remains no timetable for his return to the big leagues after recovering from a hamate-bone fracture in early July. The Angels desperately need the 32-year-old All-Star back as their starting center fielder, but the team is by no means going to rush him back. Trout is feeling better every day, and his eventual return to the lineup will likely depend on pain tolerance. The three-time MVP should be rostered in all fantasy leagues despite his lengthy absence due to injury. When he does return, he'll be coming back to a .263/.369/.493 slash line with an .862 OPS, 18 home runs, 44 RBI and 54 runs scored in 81 games.

Tue Aug 15 202300:06Mike Trout To Return Once Wrist Pain Is Manageable
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) said Monday that he will return to the team when he can tolerate the pain in his fractured left wrist. The 32-year-old said, "I think it's better because I know it's just a pain tolerance thing. It's not like a calf injury when you are worried about injuring it again." Trout has been on the injured list since the beginning of July, and while the Angels have struggled recently, manager Phil Nevin said the team has no plans to rush Trout back. The good news is that Trout has been doing conditioning drills and throwing on the field and was able to take batting practice last Friday. While Trout is still a high-end fantasy option when healthy, he has missed a good deal of time over the past several seasons due to injury.

Fri Aug 11 202319:08Mike Trout Hitting Off Machine
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (wrist) has progressed to hitting off a pitching machine on Friday. The 32-year-old recently took some swings with soft-toss, but now is taking a step forward and hitting against a machine. It's worth noting that the machine only threw breaking balls to Trout. The superstar slugger hasn't advanced to facing high-velocity fastballs yet. Trout continues to work his way back from a hamate bone fracture that has kept him sidelined since early July. The Angels haven't given a clear timetable for his return yet, but the hope is that he'll play in August.
