Wed Feb 1 2012 | 22:22 | Magic waive Larry Hughes |
The Magic waived Larry Hughes on Wednesday. |
This comes as no surprise, as Hughes has been a complete non-factor for Orlando this year, including scoring just two points on Wednesday night. His contract was set to become fully guaranteed for the remainder of the season on Feb. 10, so the Magic decided to part ways with him. Newly acquired Ish Smith is expected to be called up on Thursday |

Thu Dec 8 2011 | 11:25 | Larry Hughes joining Magic for training camp |
Larry Hughes has accepted an invite to training camp with the Orlando Magic. |
Hughes is angling for a comeback in the NBA, and the Magic don't have much financial flexibility to make a splash in free agency. Hughes is thought to be healthy, but he hasn't played in the league since the 2009-10 season, so that's a lot of rust he'll have to knock off in order to contribute. |

Larry Hughes is seeking a return to the NBA. |
"Obviously, I wanted to play," Hughes said. "At the same time I wanted to be stable. I didn't want to go to a situation where it was a one-year deal, or partial guarantee deal where at any time you could be out of there moving on." Hughes had his tires kicked by Memphis in December of 2010, but hasn't received much interest around the league outside of that. He's got a chance to earn a roster spot if a team is willing to gamble on his past production. |

Wed Dec 22 2010 | 10:33 | Grizz work out Larry Hughes, Flip Murray |
Grizzlies worked out free agents Larry Hughes and Flip Murray this week. |
The Grizz are only carrying 13 players on their roster, but there isn't much room for swingmen. O.J. Mayo is already coming off the bench, free agent pickup Tony Allen is barely playing and rookie Grevis Vasquez needs time as well. |

Thu Aug 5 2010 | 08:48 | Celtics, Bobcats interested in Hughes |
The Celtics and Bobcats, each still looking to sign a shooting guard, are both said to have interest in free agent Larry Hughes. |
There was a time when Hughes was on the verge of fantasy stardom, but that ship has sailed. Unless you're in a very deep league, there's no reason he should be owned this season, regardless of where he plays. |

Sat Apr 24 2010 | 17:30 | Hughes contributing for Bobcats |
Larry Hughes has quietly averaged 15 minutes per game for the Bobcats, and hit 5-of-6 shots and two 3-pointers for 14 points in Saturday's loss. |
On one hand, it's surprising that Larry is playing such a big role for Charlotte. On the other hand, it's not surprising that the Bobcats are in an 0-3 hole relying on Larry that much. |
Sat Apr 10 2010 | 22:02 | Larry Hughes comes up big off CHA bench |
Larry Hughes came up big off Charlotte's bench on Saturday -- he had 18 points (6-of-10 shooting), four 3-pointers, four rebounds, five assists and two steals in 26 minutes. |
Hughes' jumpshot simply cannot be relied upon, and nights like this are a rare treat (even if he committed five TOs). Charlotte plays two more regular-season games -- they are currently 1 1/2 games behind Miami, so they need the Heat to lose two games vs. the Knicks, 76ers, and/or Nets. |
Sat Apr 10 2010 | 00:31 | Hughes starts for injured Jackson |
Larry Hughes started for injured Stephen Jackson (hamstring) on Friday, and scored 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting (including two threes) with two rebounds, three assists, a steal, and an assist in 41 minutes. |
This is a nice showing, but it's really anybody's guess if he would do it again if Jackson misses anymore time. If that happens, he could be worth a gamble for owners in deep leagues. |
