The 33-year-old was attempting to return to Major League Baseball for the first time since the 2009 season. He appeared in just one Grapefruit League game, working a scoreless inning and striking out all three hitters he faced. McClung spent 2013 pitching in Mexico and Taiwan, and could generate interest from other team's looking for bullpen depth.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that free agent right-hander Seth McClung has thrown for teams recently.
McClung had an ugly 6.35 ERA and 96/70 K/BB ratio over 119 innings in Triple-A last season between the Brewers and Cubs. The 32-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2009, so he will likely function as organizational depth wherever he lands.

Cubs signed RHP Seth McClung to a minor league contract.
McClung was released by the Brewers last month after holding a 6.36 ERA and 80/60 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings for Triple-A Nashville. He'll slide into Triple-A Iowa's rotation after Casey Coleman suffered a shoulder injury.

The deal does not include an invite to spring training. McClung was released by the Rangers last July after posting a 5.19 ERA and 49/34 K/BB ratio with Triple-A Round Rock. The 30-year-old right-hander was at his best in his previous stint with the Brewers, posting a 4.32 ERA as a starter and reliever from 2007-2009.

Rangers signed RHP Seth McClung to a split contract.
McClung failed to make the Marlins roster in spring training this past season and then spent the rest of the year coaching a prep girls basketball team in his native Tampa. He most recently posted a 4.94 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 40/39 K/BB ratio over 62 innings for the Brewers in 2009. He'll be given a shot to compete for a rotation spot, but he'll be lucky to stick on the major league roster as a swing man.
