Kalish failed to make much of a splash during his time with the Cubs this season, batting .242 with no homers and three stolen bases. He'll see more regular at-bats at Triple-A, but profiles as no better than a fourth or fifth outfielder at the major league level at this point in his career.

Thu Apr 24 201417:55Ryan Kalish goes 0-for-4 in loss
Ryan Kalish went 0-for-4 and committed an error in left field Thursday against the Diamondbacks.
Kalish stands to benefit some from Justin Ruggiano's injury, though time will tell how much. Today's start was just his third in 12 days, though he hasn't looked bad when given the chance. Right now, neither he nor Junior Lake are particularly strong plays in NL-only leagues.

After a nice game Sunday against the Phillies (2B, 3B, 3 RBI, 2 BB), Kalish started two of the three games versus the Pirates, but he finished the series 0-for-8 with four strikeouts. The Cubs are going with their hot hands in the outfield, so Kalish will see his opportunities ebb and flow based on his performance.

Sat Feb 8 201410:51Ryan Kalish healthy and ready to compete
Ryan Kalish (shoulder) declared this week that he's fully healthy and ready to compete for a job in the Cubs outfield this spring.
"I feel great. I'm as healthy as I've been" he said during an interview with Carrie Muskat of MLB.com. The 25-year-old outfielder has been limited to just 93 games since the beginning of the 2011 season due to various ailments, but is now fully recovered and looking to get his career back on track. He brings a potentially intriguing combination of power and speed from the left-handed side of the plate, and could be worth a look in NL-only leagues if he cracks the Opening Day roster.
