Sat Jul 8 202316:13Rudy Gay Traded To OKC
The Hawks traded forward Rudy Gay, along with TyTy Washington Jr., Usman Garuba, and a second-round pick, to OKC on Saturday in exchange for guard Patty Mills. Gay, who was recently moved from Utah as a part of the deal surrounding John Collins, was never expected to suit up for Atlanta, so the move isn't a surprise. The 36-year-old has averaged 15.8 points since entering the league in 2005. However, his production has significantly declined over the years, so he'll have little-to-no fantasy value heading into 2023-24 and beyond, no matter where he's playing before calling it quits.

Wed Jun 28 202309:35Rudy Gay Not Expected To Suit Up For The Hawks
Atlanta Hawks forward Rudy Gay isn't expected to play for the team following his arrival from Utah in the John Collins deal. Lauren Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported that the Hawks are looking to trade the veteran, and if a favorable move can't be worked out, Atlanta will likely waive Gay. With 17 NBA seasons under his belt, Gay is clearly past his best, and he posted career-low numbers across the board last season. He will be 37 in August and will likely settle for a bench role if another team decides to pick him up, meaning Gay's fantasy appeal is set to remain marginal.

Wed Feb 15 202314:38Rudy Gay Questionable For Wednesday's Game
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) has been listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Grizzlies. The veteran is battling an illness and could be out for only the second time in 2023. Gay is playing a very limited role for the Jazz, averaging fewer than 15 minutes per game, and his absence likely won't affect the team too much. Although with Lauri Markkanen (knee) also possibly out, there would suddenly be a nice chunk of minutes available for others if both players end up sitting out the game. Ochai Agbaji, Talen Horton-Tucker, Simone Fontecchio and Juan Toscano-Anderson are all candidates to pick up more work.

Fri Oct 28 202220:25Rudy Gay Out Versus The Nuggets
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (health and safety protocols) won't play on Friday against the Denver Nuggets. The 36-year-old has averaged only 5.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists this season, so his absence won't mean much for fantasy managers. However, it may indirectly open up some playing time for Collin Sexton, who has logged just 17 minutes per game in 2022-23, giving him a brighter outlook in all formats.

Sun Feb 27 202212:30Rudy Gay Uncertain For Sunday
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Phoenix Suns. The veteran forward hasn't played in nearly a month due to a knee issue and now an illness. Eric Paschall and Danuel House Jr. have been benefiting without Gay on the court. However, they don't see enough minutes to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats. Gay is a decent low-end streaming option when healthy, but he might not play 20-plus minutes anymore. The Jazz roster is getting healthy again, which could mean less minutes for Gay when he does return.

Sun Feb 27 202200:42Rudy Gay Uncertain For Meeting With Phoenix
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is questionable for the team's upcoming meeting against Phoenix. The veteran is currently dealing with a non-COVID-related sickness, which most recently caused him to miss Friday's showdown versus Dallas. Gay had also missed five games before the All-Star break with a knee issue, so if he can't go on Sunday, his next chance to make it back will come on Wednesday versus the Houston Rockets. Nevertheless, Danuel House Jr. has been getting some extra work during Gay's absence. However, he doesn't have much fantasy upside in any format.

Thu Feb 24 202220:31Rudy Gay Unlikely To Play On Friday
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) is listed as doubtful for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Gay didn't practice on Thursday and missed time before the All-Star break as well. It's worth noting that Gay was dealing with knee soreness, but that issue appears to be behind him. Despite that, Gay could very well miss the first game out of the break. His absence should mean more minutes for Danuel House Jr. and Eric Paschall. However, neither player is trustworthy enough to bother using as a streaming option on Friday.

Thu Feb 24 202215:13Rudy Gay Sits During Thursday's Practice
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (illness) wasn't able to participate during Thursday's practice. Before the All-Star break, Gay was battling knee soreness. However, there was no mention of that, so it sounds like Gay has recovered from his knee issue. Hopefully, this illness is minor and Gay can suit up for Friday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. Otherwise, Eric Paschall and Danuel House Jr. will be asked to play more minutes. Neither of them are trustworthy enough to roster in standard leagues.

Tue Feb 15 202221:31Rudy Gay Won't Play Wednesday
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. This marks the fifth game in a row that Gay has missed due to right knee soreness. At this point, the Jazz are taking the cautious approach and holding out Gay through the All-Star break. In the meantime, Eric Paschall should see more playing time in the rotation. He scored 12 points in 15 minutes during Monday's contest. He could be worth a look as a streaming option while Gay is sidelined.

Fri Feb 11 202219:27Rudy Gay Will Miss Friday’s Contest
Utah Jazz power forward Rudy Gay (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Magic due to a sore right knee. Gay's absence has climbed to three consecutive contests, with his minutes being distributed over the Jazz's usual second unit contributors. Gay, 35, is on pace to play a career-low 20 minutes per game this season, which has led to an average of 8.9 PPG, the only time in his career he has not averaged double figures. Jordan Clarkson and Eric Paschall will continue to hold elevated second unit offensive upside for as long as Gay is sidelined, with his next chance to suit up coming Monday vs. Houston.

Fri Feb 4 202218:22Rudy Gay Tagged As Questionable For Friday
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Brooklyn Nets. The Jazz are already without starting center Rudy Gobert (calf) and backup Hassan Whiteside (back) is listed as questionable. That means, Eric Paschall, Udoka Azubuike, and possibly Elijah Hughes would play bigger roles. Gay wasn't a great fantasy option to start, but the Jazz are banged up right now. Azubuike and Paschall could have some streaming appeal on Friday, assuming Whiteside remains out.

Wed Jan 19 202218:33Rudy Gay Will Miss Wednesday’s Contest
Utah Jazz small/power forward Rudy Gay (heel) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Rockets due to right heel soreness. Gay's absence figures to open up more offensive usage among the second unit for Jordan Clarkson and Eric Paschall, although Utah's rotations stand to be in flux with Donovan Mitchell (concussion) also missing the contest. Gay has scuffled from the field across six January outings, shooting just 36.5 percent overall, averaging 9.5 points and 4.5 boards per game. The veteran's next chance to return to action comes Friday vs. Detroit.

Fri Nov 19 202104:41Rudy Gay Makes Season Debut With 20 Points
After recovering from offseason surgery, Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay had a successful season debut on Thursday. In a 119-103 win over the Toronto Raptors, Gay played 18 minutes while recording 20 points, five rebounds, five three-pointers, and two assists. The veteran forward went 7-for-8 from the floor, 5-for-6 from three-point land, and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. It's unlikely Gay has many nights like this during the season become the Jazz's pecking order is pretty set. However, an injury to Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, or Joe Ingles would shoot Gay up the depth chart. So he's safe to leave on waivers for now but worth checking on in a week or two.

Wed Nov 17 202120:57Rudy Gay Likely To Make Season Debut Thursday
Utah Jazz small/power forward Rudy Gay (heel) has been listed as probable to take the floor for Thursday's game against Toronto, which would mark both his season and team debut. Gay has shifted primarily into a reserve role over the past few seasons, but he has proven to still be an adept scorer when given minutes. The 35-year-old figures to slot into a second unit that already features Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, and Hassan Whiteside, giving Utah even more impressive depth. Until head coach Quin Snyder acclimates Gay to the mix, the veteran is likely best left on the waiver wire in any-sized season-long format.

Mon Nov 15 202114:22Rudy Gay Returns To Practice On Monday
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (heel) was able to get through a full practice on Monday. This is great news for the veteran forward who has not played this season. He underwent left heel surgery during the offseason, but it sounds like he's nearing a return to the court. The 35-year-old veteran has been a reliable option over the last few seasons with the San Antonio Spurs. It's uncertain how he'll fit into Utah's rotation once he's healthy, but they will find a spot for him. Fantasy managers shouldn't jump to add Gay in fantasy formats yet. It's unclear when he'll get back to the court or what kind of role he'll have in Utah. For now, fantasy managers should monitor his status and possibly stash him in deep leagues.

Mon Nov 8 202123:03Rudy Gay Remains Out Against Atlanta
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (heel) will remain out for Tuesday's matchup against Atlanta. The veteran had surgery on his left heel during the offseason and has yet to suit up this season. Gay was a relatively reliable option for the Spurs over the last four seasons, and most recently, he averaged 11.4 points and 4.8 boards during the 2020-21 campaign. Although the 35-year-old likely doesn't have a home on many fantasy rosters, at least at the moment, there is a good chance he will have some streaming appeal at some point this year.

Wed Oct 20 202120:40Rudy Gay, Trent Forrest Sitting Out Opener
The Utah Jazz will be without forward Rudy Gay (heel) and guard Trent Forrest (concussion) for Wednesday's season opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Gay is still in the midst of recovering from offseason surgery on his left heel. He doesn't have a timetable for a return as of now. Forrest, meanwhile, is in concussion protocol. Royce O'Neale and Eric Paschall should benefit from Gay's absence. Meanwhile, rookie Jared Butler could see some late game action on Wednesday with Forrest on the sidelines, assuming the Jazz (13.5 point favorites) handle business.

Sun Oct 10 202118:34Rudy Gay To Remain Out For Monday's Game
Utah Jazz forward Rudy Gay (heel) will be out once again for Monday's preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Gay is in the midst of recovering from offseason heel surgery. He has yet to play in a preseason game, but he is expected to be ready to return early on in the regular season. As of now, Gay is the only Jazz player listed on the injury report for Monday. That means we could see most of Utah's regulars against the Pelicans. Rudy Gobert, Bojan Bogdanovic and Joe Ingles have yet to play in the preseason while Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley both sat out the team's most recent game. All five of these players could be on the court on Monday, but stay tuned for the official word as tip-off nears.

Tue May 25 202115:11Growing pains as Spurs transition to younger roster
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — After relying heavily on veterans for two decades, the San Antonio Spurs are having growing pains in their transformation to a younger roster. For the first time, San Antonio missed the playoffs for a second straight season after an NBA-record 22 straight appearances. “Unique, roller coaster, weird,” Spurs veteran guard DeMar DeRozan said. “I think those are three things that sum up this season.” The days of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili guiding a veteran roster have given way to Dejounte Murray, Derrick White, Keldon Johnson and Lonnie Walker learning on the fly through injuries, little practice and a compacted schedule because ot he pandemic. It was one of the most confounding seasons for Gregg Popovich, but also one of the most rewarding in his 25 years as Spurs coach. “If any team needs practices to work on consistency and execution, we did,” Popovich said. “(But) I don’t know if I have ever been more proud of a team that just doesn’t quit. No matter what... [More]
Wed Apr 21 202116:38Pacers' Sampson gets 1-game suspension for headbutting Mills
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The already short-handed Indiana Pacers will play Oklahoma City on Wednesday night without forward JaKarr Sampson after the NBA announced he would serve a one-game suspension following his ejection during Monday's loss to San Antonio. Sampson received a flagrant two foul and automatic ejection early in the fourth quarter against the Spurs. The incident began as Sampson and San Antonio guard Patty Mills fought for a rebound, resulting in a shoving match. Sampson then confronted Mills and headbutted him before Spurs forward Rudy Gay shoved Sampson. Mills and Gay both received technical fouls for their part in the altercation. The league fined Mills $25,000 and Gay $20,000. Indiana has lost three in a row. Oklahoma City has lost 11 consecutive games. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports
