Frank Catalanotto has announced his retirement.
The 36-year-old will help coach Italy in Panama later this year and is also expected to make some television appearances for SNY. He played for the Tigers, Rangers (twice), Blue Jays, Brewers and Mets during his career. New York released him last May and he hasn't played baseball since. A .291 career hitter, Catalanotto struggled to find at-bats even as a bench player in recent seasons.

Though he's yet to officially retire, Frank Catalanotto insists he's done playing.

Mets released OF Frank Catalanotto.
Catalanotto was granted his release by the Mets after clearing waivers. The 36-year-old utility man batted .160 (4-for-25) before being designated for assignment last week. He's expected to retire.
