PF Luis Scola remains in the starting lineup, but his contributions continue to be minuscule. The aging veteran had just one point and one rebound in 20 minutes against Detroit on Sunday. Scola averaged just 5.0 points in February and did not have any double-digit performances. Counterpart Tobias Harris had an efficient 14-point performance Sunday, and his backup, Justin Harper, hit two first-quarter 3-pointers in Detroit's decisive victory. Toronto Raptors power forward Luis Scola will begin the season in the starting lineup, according to the Toronto Sun.
Toronto Raptors power forward Luis Scola will begin the season in the starting lineup, according to the Toronto Sun. Scola outplayed Patrick Patterson in camp and started each of the last two preseason games, and will be a better defensive complement to center Jonas Valanciunas in the front court. “Unless somebody plays their way out or plays their way in, and that’s always still a possibility, (the lineup is pretty much set),” head coach Dwane Casey said after the Raptors held practice on the main floor of the Air Canada Centre on Sunday morning. "That’s the good thing about having good depth. I’m not saying one guy is better than the other. It’s the fit moreso and what gives us the best balance for the second unit, the best balance for the first unit.” Scola was signed as a free agent after averaging 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds over 20.5 minutes in 81 games last season for the Indiana Pacers.

Scola scored 13 points (6-10 FG, 1-2 FT) with eight rebounds in 17 minutes off the bench during Sunday's preseason win over the Clippers.
Patrick Patterson will get the first crack at the Raptors starting power forward spot, allowing Scola to supply some rebounding and veteran savvy to the second unit. Don't expect a big increase in the 35-year-old's production or minutes with Toronto, but Scola could still have a little value in deep formats.
