C Joel Anthony, who was acquired by the Houston Rockets from the Detroit Pistons on Thursday, was acquired by Philadelphia along with a 2017 second-round pick from Houston as part of the multi-team trade that included the 76ers sending the rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum to the Rockets. The 33-year-old Anthony appeared in 13 games for the Pistons this season and has averaged 2.2 points in 465 career games for the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Pistons.
Thu Feb 18 201616:29Pistons acquire Thornton from Rockets
The Detroit Pistons continued their aggressive week on Thursday, reportedly acquiring shooting guard Marcus Thornton and forward Donatas Motiejunas from the Houston Rockets for backup center Joel Anthony and a protected first-round pick in 2018.Yahoo Sports was the first to report the deal. The Pistons (27-27) are one game out of eighth place in the Eastern Conference but ranked 24th in 3-point shooting percentage before team president/coach Stan Van Gundy made his second trade of the week to possibly address the issue. On Monday, the Detroit sent guard Brandon Jennings and forward Ersan Ilyasova to the Orlando Magic for forward Tobias Harris.Thornton averaged 10 points in 47 games for the Rockets and has made 33.8 percent (73-of-216) of his 3-pointers this season. In 436 games for the New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Houston, Thornton has averaged 12.4 points per game while shooting 35.9 percent from 3-point range.Thornton signed a... Anthony has agreed two a two-year deal with the Pistons worth $5 million, Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Anthony's second year of the deal is reportedly non-guaranteed as he'll head to Detroit and provide depth to coach Stan Van Gundy's bench. The veteran will certainly play behind Andre Drummond and he'll likely be slotted behind Aron Baynes as well, which hardly leaves any time for Anthony to produce viable numbers under most formats.

Anthony saw limited action in 49 contests in 2014-15, averaging 1.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.
Anthony was traded from Boston to Detroit two weeks before the start of the regular season, and he primarily provided veteran frontcourt depth for the Pistons. The 32-year-old is very limited on the offensive end, but he remains a dependable rebounder and interior defender. An unrestricted free agent this offseason, Anthony will likely seek a roster spot with a contender for a near-minimum salary.

Anthony scored six points (3-3 FG) with six rebounds, one assist, one steal and four blocks in 26 minutes Saturday.
Anthony saw some extra run with Anthony Tolliver battling foul trouble and Greg Monroe (knee) sidelined. In only 15 minutes over his last five games, Anthony is averaging 2.0 blocks per game, but offers little aside from that category to fantasy owners and when Monroe return, Anthony will likely see his role reduced significantly, or possibly minimised completely.

Anthony scored a season-high 10 points (5-9 FG, 0-1 FT) with five rebounds and one block in 21 minutes Saturday.
Anthony was called into action with Andre Drummond going down with a concussion and played a season high in minutes as well as scoring in double-digits for the first time. The 10 points were more than he had scored in his previous nine games combined, but if Drummond is forced to miss time, Anthony may be a sneaky source of blocks and rebounds in deeper leagues.

Anthony (groin) returned Friday after missing four games, but was held to just four minutes. His only stat on the night was a block he recorded.
Between injury and limited playing time, Anthony hasn't scored in a game since Feb. 11. Even when he's healthy, he usually plays less than 10 minutes in games.

Anthony (groin) did not suit up for Tuesday's game against the Lakers, according to the Pistons' official website.
Anthony felt fine Tuesday morning, according to head coach Stan Van Gundy, but he was apparently not feeling good enough to play. It seems he will have a chance sometime before the end of the Pistons' current road trip, which ends Saturday.

Anthony finished with four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT) and three rebounds in seven minutes off the bench during Wednesday's victory over the Orlando Magic.
Anthony has played in only 23 games this season, averaging six minutes per contest. He'll continue having a tough time finding minutes behind the likes of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe, so he'll be irrelevant in all fantasy formats. Unless an injury occurs, he'll continue to play mostly in garbage time at the end of games.

Anthony has seen time on the court in just eight games this season and is averaging 7.1 minutes over those contests.
Anthony is buried on the depth chart under Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe which poses problems for the 32-year-old's playing time this season. Unless injuries become a problem for the Pistons, Anthony will likely be stuck on the pine moving forward.

Anthony has averaged 19 minutes in his first two games with the Pistons, but his playing time figures to take a hit when Greg Monroe returns from a suspension Saturday against the Nets.
Anthony has averaged two points, 4.5 rebounds and one block through his first two games as a Piston. Aside from the absence of Monroe in these first two games, Anthony's playing time was also boosted by Andre Drummond's foul trouble. Once Monroe returns, he would be the Pistons first option to see extra run at center should Drummond continue to rack up fouls at an alarming rate. Anthony will slide back into his expected depth role and see limited action going forward.
Fri Oct 17 201410:37Anthony traded to Pistons ESPN reports
Anthony has been traded to the Pistons ESPN reports.
Anthony has been shipped to the Pistons in exchange for guard Will Bynum. Anthony served as a reserve big man for the Celtics, and should carry that role on as he moves to Detroit. He will play behind centers Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe, and will not have much fantasy value unless one of the aforementioned players gets hurt or traded.

Anthony (groin) has played 30 minutes over the Celtics' past two preseason games.
Anthony dealt with a groin issue to begin the preseason, but was eased back into action last Wednesday by playing eight minutes versus the Knicks. Following that workout, Anthony increased his involvement to 22 minutes in Saturday's second game against New York, putting any injury concerns in the past.

Anthony is dealing with a groin injury that will force him to miss Friday's scrimmage.
The Celtics will be cautious with Anthony's groin injury considering that there's nothing to play for during the practice scrimmage. Even so, the 32-year-old veteran won't see much time on the court this year with the likes of Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller, Vitor Faverani and Jared Sullinger ahead of him on the depth chart.
Fri Apr 18 201409:29Report: Joel will exercise player option
A source tells CSNNW.com that Celtics F/C Joel Anthony will exercise his player option for the 2014/15 season.
It's a no-brainer decision for Anthony as he'll earn a guaranteed $3.8 million next season and then become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2015. He averaged 7.1 minutes per game in 21 appearances for the Celtics this season.

Mon Apr 7 201410:31Joel Anthony may not pick up player option?
Joel Anthony isn't sure whether he'll exercise his $3.8 million option to stay with the Celtics next season.
That's a much richer deal that Anthony could earn as a free agent, so it would be surprising if he left Boston even though he's not currently part of the rotation. He's a fantasy pariah no matter where he's playing.

Thu Jan 16 201413:29Joel Anthony takes part in first C's practice
Joel Anthony practiced with the Celtics on Thursday.
It is unclear how much the newly-acquired Anthony will play with the struggling Celtics, but he isn't worth fantasy owners' time in anything but the deepest of leagues. The Celtics are in full rebuilding mode and will likely dedicate minutes to developing younger players rather than giving Anthony full run.
