Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Sat May 7 202214:46George Hill Cleared To Play In Game 3 Saturday
Milwaukee Bucks point guard George Hill (abdomen) has been given the green light to get back into action for Saturday's Game 3 against the Celtics. Hill last suited up April 8 due to abdominal strain, one which is likely to keep his minutes total in check for the time being. The veteran is coming off a regular season in which he averaged just 6.2 points and 2.2 assists, his lowest marks in each category since his rookie campaign in 2008-09. Jrue Holiday will remain Milwaukee's primary ball-handler, although Hill's return could take a slight cut of Wesley Matthews, Grayson Allen, and Pat Connaughton's fantasy shine.

Fri May 6 202223:22George Hill Expected To Make Postseason Debut
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdomen) is anticipated to suit up for the postseason battle against the Boston Celtics. The veteran hasn't played in nearly a month because of an abdominal strain. While the 36-year-old should get some action in Game 3, he's not expected to do much, although his presence could still negatively impact Jevon Carter's workload. However, neither man will likely produce enough to make a difference for DFS managers searching for value on Saturday.

Fri May 6 202210:22George Hill Close To Making His Return
Milwaukee Bucks point guard George Hill (abdomen) is "very close" to making his return to the court, according to Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer. On Thursday, Hill essentially went through a full practice. Following the practice session, Budenholzer said, "He pretty much did all of practice today, did some extra, some play group afterward. I think we just gotta see how he comes out of that & hopefully he's good. But he's very close." Hill has been out since the final weekend of the regular season due to an abdominal strain. His next chance to play will be in Saturday's Game 3 against the Boston Celtics.

Mon May 2 202222:11George Hill Out On Tuesday Night
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdomen) is out for the playoff showdown against Boston on Tuesday night. The 35-year-old has been dealing with an abdominal strain, causing him to miss the entire postseason series versus the Chicago Bulls and the second-round opener against the Celtics on Sunday. It's unknown how much longer Hill will be sidelined. However, it doesn't matter, especially since the veteran likely won't see much action if he is cleared to return anytime soon.

Sat Apr 30 202221:21George Hill Remains Out On Sunday Afternoon
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdomen) won't suit up for the second-round series opener versus the Boston Celtics. The veteran didn't play during the first round against Chicago due to an abdominal strain, although had he been available, he may have gotten some work with Khris Middleton (knee) sidelined. Nonetheless, the Bucks will probably continue to rely on its starting unit for most of Game 1. Yet, Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton may get most of the minutes and opportunities to produce from off the bench on Sunday.

Wed Apr 27 202210:12George Hill Questionable For Game 5
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdominal) is listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday's Game 5 against the Chicago Bulls. He is dealing with an abdominal strain and he has yet to play this postseason. Hill logged 23.2 minutes per game during the regular season and averaged 6.2 points and 2.2 assists per contest. Once he's back, we will likely see Jevon Carter's minutes take a big hit. He may even be phased out of the rotation completely.

Mon Apr 25 202220:38George Hill Still Needs More Time
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdominal) still needs more time to recover. At this point, it's fair to assume Hill won't play at all during the first round. Head coach Mike Budenholzer mentioned that Hill is not day-to-day and is going to need some extra time to rest. Fantasy managers should expect Jevon Carter to continue playing additional minutes with Hill sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Sun Apr 24 202200:35George Hill To Miss Another One On Sunday
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdomen) won't play on Sunday against Chicago. The 35-year-old has yet to suit up during the postseason. However, even if Hill were available, it's unlikely he would have much of a role, even with Khris Middleton (knee) out of the equation.

Fri Apr 22 202219:36George Hill Out For Game 3
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdomen) is out on Friday night. The veteran hasn't played at all during the postseason series with the Bulls, which is unfortunate considering Milwaukee will be without Khris Middleton for the foreseeable future. Nonetheless, even if Hill makes it back, he likely won't see enough minutes to make a difference for DFS managers, at least unless something happens to Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, or Jevon Carter moving forward.

Tue Apr 19 202222:15George Hill Won't Play In Game 2
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (abdominal) has been ruled out for Wednesday's Game 2 matchup against the Chicago Bulls. The veteran guard will miss his third straight game due to an abdominal issue. His absence won't have a huge impact on the Bucks rotation. Jevon Carter saw 10 minutes in Game 1, so he'll probably play a similar role on Wednesday.

Sat Apr 16 202215:07Grayson Allen, George Hill Ready To Go For Sunday
Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard/small forward Grayson Allen (hip) and point guard George Hill (abdominal) have received the green light to suit up for Sunday's game vs. Chicago in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Allen missed the final three contests of the regular season due to hip soreness, while Hill has battled abdominal soreness. The duo make up an integral part of the Bucks' second unit, with Allen holding higher DFS appeal due to his scoring prowess, which included shooting 47.9% from behind the arc during the second half. Hill averaged just 16.1 minutes on a nightly basis over the final month, significantly cutting into his DFS upside in all formats.

Sun Jan 30 202217:44George Hill Won't Play Sunday
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (neck) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets. It appears the Bucks are going to play it safe with their veteran guard. Grayson Allen should more minutes coming his way on Sunday. His usage should increase as well, which makes him an interesting DFS option. Hill is likely to return for their next contest, but doesn't carry much fantasy value when healthy.

Mon Jan 17 202217:50George Hill Starting Against Hawks
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill will move into the starting five for Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. He's not exactly the most attractive DFS option, but is worth a look on Monday. The Bucks don't have a ton of options, so Hill should play minutes into the 30s versus Atlanta. He could be a possible deep league streaming choice or a cheap DFS option for Monday's slate. There isn't a ton of upside, but Hill is going to have an extended role.

Thu Jan 13 202218:43George Hill Returns To Action For Thursday’s Game
Milwaukee Bucks point guard George Hill has been cleared to suit up for Thursday's contest vs. the Warriors. Hill missed four games due to the league's COVID-19 protocols, with his return giving the team some much-needed depth at the position with Jrue Holiday (ankle) sidelined. While Hill could see some additional minutes funneled in his direction, he stands to be a finicky DFS asset, having averaged just 6.4 points and 2.2 assists per outing over his last 10 games despite playing 23.1 minutes per night. The 7.1 points per game that Hill has averaged this season is on pace to be his lowest mark since his rookie year (2008-09), with his limited role likely keeping him on the waiver wire in the vast majority of season-long leagues.

Wed Jan 5 202219:29George Hill Won't Play Wednesday
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors. The veteran guard will sit this one out while he follows the league's health and safety protocols. He wasn't exactly a huge factor in the rotation, but the Bucks are already shorthanded for Wednesday. His absence should result in more playing time for starter Jrue Holiday. He'll already be a fantastic DFS option for Wednesday, but Hill's absence does give him a slight uptick.

Mon Dec 13 202114:30George Hill Won't Play On Monday
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (rest) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Boston Celtics. He made his return to the lineup on Sunday, but will sit out the back end of the back-to-back set. The Bucks aren't going to push the veteran guard too hard while he works his way back from a right knee hyperextension. In the meantime, Pat Connaughton should see more minutes, but isn't worth starting in most fantasy formats. He could have some low-end deep league value while Hill is out, but it'll likely be minimal value.

Sat Dec 4 202115:06George Hill Expected To Play On Saturday
Milwaukee Bucks guard George Hill (knee) is expected to play on Saturday against Miami. The veteran sits on the injury report after he hyperextended his right knee. However, Hill should be good to go, and after playing at least 25 minutes in each of his last five games, there is plenty of upside against the visiting Heat, especially if Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf), who is doubtful, can't go.

Tue Aug 3 202119:59George Hill Likely Heading Back To Milwaukee
Guard George Hill reportedly plans to sign with the Bucks. On Tuesday, the veteran was waived by his former employer, the Philadelphia 76ers, so it didn't take him long to find work. Hill will head back to Milwaukee, where he played for two years, finishing his final season in 2020 by averaging 9.4 points, 3.6 assists, and shooting 46 percent from deep. He shouldn't be considered an everyday fantasy option. However, the upside is there if Jrue Holiday were to get injured at some point during the 2021-22 season.

Wed Jun 2 202118:5176ers' Embiid sits out Game 5 with meniscus tear in knee
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia star Joel Embiid is out with a small lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, a potentially critical blow as the 76ers chase their first NBA championship since 1983. Embiid sat out Game 5 against Washington on Wednesday night. He isn't scheduled to have surgery, and the Sixers will treat his injury with physical therapy. He is considered day to day. Sixers coach Doc Rivers said only that he was “hopeful” the All-Star center could return at some point in the postseason. “He's a competitor. The fact that he's not playing tonight, or whenever he can play, it bothers him,” Rivers said. “He's not in a great place that way. But he's good. He's fine.” The Sixers held a 3-1 lead over the Wizards in the first-round Eastern Conference series and a victory would certainly give Embiid more time to rest before the next round. Embiid walked out to big cheers for pregame warmups and shot mostly jumpers around the perimeter and some free throws. He hit fadeaways and appeared... [More]
