Wed Oct 18 202321:38JaVale McGee Removed From Injury Report
Sacramento Kings center JaVale McGee (wrist) has been removed from the injury report ahead of Wednesday's preseason matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The veteran big man was been dealing with right wrist soreness throughout the preseason. Luckily, it appears the injury behind him, which is good news heading into the regular season. The expectation is that McGee is going to have a limited role off the bench for the Kings this season. It's unlikely that he'll play enough to have consistent fantasy value while Domantas Sabonis is healthy.

Sat Sep 9 202309:43JaVale McGee Preferred Kings To Warriors
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick, JaVale McGee elected against joining his former team, the Golden State Warriors, when the Dallas Mavericks waived him last month. The 35-year-old won two championships with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018, but he decided to join the Sacramento Kings instead for the upcoming campaign. McGee won multiple rings with the Warriors but actually didn't play a lot for the team, averaging just 9.5 minutes per game. He would've been well down in the pecking order on the current roster as well, although McGee isn't expected to see the court very often for the Kings either.

Mon Sep 4 202316:38JaVale McGee Does Not Have Guaranteed Roster Spot
The Sacramento Kings recently signed center JaVale McGee to a one-year deal. It was reported that the deal was a one-year contract for the veteran minimum. That being said, the deal is worth a little over $3 million considering McGee has over 10 years of NBA service time. The expectation is that McGee will make the roster because of the guaranteed money, but the Kings could still cut him if they don't believe he can contribute to their roster. The Kings have six centers on their roster, so there's no chance that they carry all of them on their regular season roster.

Wed Aug 30 202309:05Kings Interested In JaVale McGee
According to Bleacher Report's Chris Haynes, the Sacramento Kings are interested in picking up center JaVale McGee, who was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday. McGee signed a three-year deal for around $17 million with Dallas last summer, but he became redundant on the team and averaged just 8.5 minutes in 42 appearances. The three-time NBA champion doesn't really have a clear pathway to playing time in Sactown either, but it looks like the Kings believe that McGee can be valuable for them. If he indeed moves to Sacramento, McGee will find himself on a sixth different team in six seasons.

Tue Aug 22 202315:29Mavericks Expected To Waive-And-Stretch JaVale McGee
Dallas Mavericks center JaVale McGee will reportedly be looking for a new team after August 31. According to Marc Stein, the team is expected to waive-and-stretch the veteran big man by the deadline on August 31 barring any unforeseen trade that would require McGee's contract. The 35-year-old played in just 42 games for the Mavericks last year and averaged 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest across 8.5 minutes per game. After being a key reserve for a few championship teams, he became a non-factor once he went to Dallas. Teams looking for a backup big will look toward McGee for some veteran presence.

Thu Apr 6 202310:48Time To Hang It Up: Five NBA Players That Should Retire After The Season
Basketball is a fast-paced game. While the court's dimensions are smaller than baseball and football fields, there is no room to relax because players must exert effort on offense and defense. NBA's Advanced Stats reveal that LaMelo Ball trumps other ballers in the distance covered, averaging 2.77 miles per game. Fred VanVleet is not far behind at 2.76.Therefore, basketball players must be in good condition to render significant minutes. Conversely, injuries are also a dime a dozen because of the extensive regular season. Failing to stay in shape could mean reduced playing time or an abrupt end to their career. But at some point, Father Time wins, no matter how much a player wants to delay the inevitable. These players have rendered extensive NBA careers but are far from the peak of their capabilities. Sadly, retirement after the 2022-23 season is a strong possibility because they are not steady contributors anymore or hardly step into the court. However, their younger teammates should pick their brains and learn from their limitless wisdom.

Thaddeus Young

Young won the NBA Hustle Award during the 2020-21 season thanks to his accumulated hustle stats like taking screens and diving for loose balls. But that recognition is a nice consolation for a man who nearly averaged a double-double (15.1 points, nine rebounds) for the 2015-16 season with the Brooklyn Nets.https://twitter.com/ClutchPointsApp/status/1612227070108516355The 16-year veteran has been touted as a do-it-all player on both ends. Unfortunately, his production has significantly dropped in his second season with the Toronto Raptors. He is averaging only 4.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game through March 11. He hasn't played since, even if he is on the active roster, because of ... [More]

Fri Nov 18 202220:21JaVale McGee Back In Mavericks Lineup
Dallas Mavericks center JaVale McGee (neck) is officially available for Friday's matchup against Denver. He hasn't played for two games but was initially already probable for the contest and it's now confirmed that the veteran can play. McGee is playing a very small role in the rotation, but he could get a much busier night Friday, with Maxi Kleber (back) unavailable. However, with Dwight Powell and Christian Wood both healthy, McGee likely still won't be able to make much of an impact.

Wed Nov 16 202218:17Maxi Kleber, JaVale McGee Out Versus Dallas
Dallas Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber (back) and JaVale McGee (neck) are out for Wednesday's meeting with the Rockets. Luka Doncic (rest) won't play either, and the Mavs will also be shorthanded underneath the basket, allowing Christian Would to see plenty of minutes and scoring opportunities. At the same time, Dwight Powell, who has averaged 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in six starts this season, is expected to enter the starting lineup.

Sun May 29 202211:03JaVale McGee Interested In Staying In Phoenix
Free-agent center JaVale McGee is interested in remaining in Phoenix. The veteran averaged 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks last season with the Suns and was considered one of the best backup big men in the league. McGee probably won't have a consistent role in any lineup moving ahead, especially considering his advanced NBA age. However, the 34-year-old should be good for some impactful fantasy performances during the 2022-23 campaign, regardless of where he's playing.

Fri Apr 1 202218:52JaVale McGee Cleared To Play On Friday
Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee (illness) has been given the green light to suit up for Friday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The news isn't particularly surprising as McGee had been listed as probable earlier in the day. The seven-footer has been dealing with a non-COVID illness and it's cost him two straight games. With his return, we should see Bismack Biyombo's minutes reduced. McGee will serve as the team's primary backup center to Deandre Ayton on Friday.

Fri Apr 1 202209:22JaVale McGee Earns Probable Tag For Friday
Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee (illness) is listed as probable for Friday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The seven-footer has missed two straight games due to a non-COVID illness, but it looks like he'll be back on the court on Friday. McGee averaged 13.5 minutes per game in March and compiled 7.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while maintaining solid percentages (60.9% FGs, 81.5% FTs). Bismack Biyombo will see his minutes take a hit with McGee back. He had been serving as the team's exclusive backup to starting center Deandre Ayton with McGee out the last two games.

Sun Mar 27 202208:28JaVale McGee Will Miss Sunday’s Contest
Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Philadelphia. McGee has continued to be a solid per minute contributor when utilized off the bench, but the return of Deandre Ayton has made him a non-entity in season-long formats. On the year, McGee has averaged 9.3 points and 6.6 rebounds despite receiving just 15.5 minutes on a nightly basis. His absence paves the way for Bismack Biyombo to see a handful of additional minutes, while Ayton will draw the task of slowing the 76ers' Joel Embiid. The next chance for McGee to take the floor comes Wednesday vs. Golden State.

Tue Jan 25 202218:52Deandre Ayton, JaVale McGee Will Miss Wednesday’s Game
Phoenix Suns centers Deandre Ayton (ankle) and JaVale McGee (knee) have been ruled out for Wednesday's contest against Utah. Ayton's absence will climb to five consecutive outings missed due to a sprained right ankle, while McGee -- who started the past four games -- is battling a sore left knee. Their collective absences leave Bismack Biyombo and Jalen Smith as the team's options at center, with Biyombo being the more DFS relevant of the two options, having averaged 10.8 points and 7.6 boards in nine games with the Suns. While Phoenix has been mum on a return to action for Ayton, the next opportunity that he or McGee will have to take the floor comes Friday vs. the Timberwolves.

Tue Dec 14 202110:10JaVale McGee Bags A Double-Double In Another Start
Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee logged another start on Monday against the Clippers and notched a second consecutive double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. He shot 5-for-13 from the field and 3-for-4 at the line while adding one assist to his tally in 25 minutes. McGee is currently benefitting from Deandre Ayton's (illness) absence. Phoenix has another game on Tuesday against Portland, and it will be a very good spot for McGee to extend his double-double streak if Ayton can't make it back. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation very closely.

Mon Nov 15 202108:07JaVale McGee Records A Nice Double-Double
Phoenix Suns center JaVale McGee had a chance to celebrate his first double-double of the season on Sunday when he collected 19 points and 14 rebounds in a blowout win over Houston. He missed just three of his 12 shots and added three blocks and one steal on the defensive end in 25 minutes of action. Centers are feasting against the Rockets on a nightly basis, so McGee was always going to enjoy this matchup. The next one against Minnesota will be a lot more difficult, but Phoenix will then face Dallas in back-to-back games, and the Mavericks are another side that can't handle centers. McGee is currently starting for the Suns because Deandre Ayton (leg) is sidelined.

Mon Mar 29 202101:03Lakers add center Andre Drummond for postseason push
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Andre Drummond is joining the Los Angeles Lakers for the playoff push. The Lakers announced the signing of the two-time All-Star center less than an hour before Sunday night's game against the Orlando Magic. Drummond announced his decision with a post on his Instagram account earlier in the day, writing “Back to work” underneath an illustration of himself in a Lakers uniform. Drummond agreed to a buyout Friday from the Cleveland Cavaliers, who acquired the four-time NBA rebounding champion last year after nearly eight seasons in Detroit. He had to clear waivers before he could join a team of his choosing, and Drummond chose to link up with LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the defending NBA champions. “We’re all thrilled. He’s one of the best centers in the league and someone every defensive coordinator is going to have to account for while trying to slow down LeBron, AD and our guards when we get going," Lakers coach Frank Vogel said after Sunday's 96-93 victory over the... Sun Mar 28 202121:23Andre Drummond says he's joining LA Lakers for playoff race
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Andre Drummond says he's joining the Los Angeles Lakers for the playoff push. Drummond announced his decision with a post on his Instagram account Sunday, writing “Back to work” underneath an illustration of himself in a Lakers uniform. Coach Frank Vogel said Sunday night before the Lakers' home game against Orlando that he could not comment on the signing of the two-time All-Star center because it wasn't oficial yet. Drummond is almost certain to get his first significant NBA postseason playing time with the Lakers after appearing in only eight playoff games — and losing all eight — in two postseason trips with the Pistons.
