Thu Oct 2 201413:45Ibanez not included on Royals' ALDS roster
Ibanez was not included on the Royals' ALDS roster, Andy McCullough of the Kansas City Star reports.
Ibanez was on the team's Wild Card roster, but did not end up appearing in the game and will not be active for the Division Series. He played in 90 games this season between Anaheim and Kansas City, posting just a .167/.264/.285 batting line and five homers in 280 plate appearances. This may be the end of the line for the 42-year-old.

Ibanez went 1-for-3 on Friday against the Athletics as he hit his fifth homer of the year while scoring one run and one RBI.
The only run the Royals and Ibanez provided was enough to win the game, but it's obvious the 42-year old outfielder has really slowed down this season. While the home run was nice to see, Ibanez needs to get consistent at-bats moving forward to provide value.
Wed Jul 23 201400:22Ibanez has RBI double in win over White Sox
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored in a win over the White Sox on Tuesday.
Ibanez' RBI double started the scoring in what would be a four-run sixth inning for the Royals. He had been 4-for-35 in his Royals tenure prior to Tuesday's two-hit game. With the club still holding out Wild Card aspirations and Ibanez going nowhere but down, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team make a move to replace the 42-year-old in the coming weeks.

Wed Jul 2 201416:31Raul Ibanez homers as Royals down Twins
Raul Ibanez singled and smacked a solo homer in Wednesday's win over the Twins.
He scored a pair of runs on the day. Ibanez was the offensive star in what was his second start in three games since joining the Royals. Kansas City plans to continue using him in right field often while Norichika Aoki (groin) is on the disabled list. He's hit only .167/.263/.287 with the Angels and Royals but is probably worth using in AL-only formats.

Mon Jun 30 201413:34Royals ink deal with 42-year-old Raul Ibanez
Royals signed DH Raul Ibanez.
Ibanez was released by the Angels on June 21 after batting just .157 with a .523 OPS in 57 games. The 42-year-old is doubtful to suddenly shine in Kansas City, where he'll be a bench bat and part-time designated hitter. Ibanez will make the MLB minimum with the Royals. Anaheim is still on the hook for his one-year, $2.75 million deal.

Sat Jun 21 201417:02Angels cut ties with 42-year-old Raul Ibanez
Angels released DH Raul Ibanez.
Ibanez, 42, was batting just .157 with a .523 OPS through 57 games this season for the Halos, who are still on the hook for what remains of his one-year, $2.75 million contract. Ibanez seems likely to consider retirement.

Wed Jun 4 201423:56Raul Ibanez goes 0-for-4 against Astros
Raul Ibanez went 0-for-4 before being removed for a defensive replacement Wednesday against the Astros.
Ibanez is 0-for-11 in June. He still has a job mostly because of his early-April RBI binge, but he's currently been stuck on 20 RBI since May 15. His batting average hasn't seen .200 since way back on April 13, and he's actually hovered below .160 for over a month now. The Angels aren't going to be able to justify carrying him for much longer at this rate.

Mon May 19 201422:02Raul Ibanez's roster spot not in jeopardy
Angels general manager Jerry Dipoto indicated Monday that Raul Ibanez's roster spot isn't in jeopardy.
The Angels have some roster decisions upcoming, as David Freese (finger) and Kole Calhoun (ankle) will return this week and Josh Hamilton (thumb) and Ian Stewart (hand) are due back next week. Grant Green, C.J. Cron and Efren Navarro have come up recently and contributed, but it appear at least a couple of them will lose than roster spots instead of Ibanez, who is batting a sickly .148/.268/.269. "Raul has a track record," Dipoto said. "He has done this before. He has gone through cold spells, and he has gotten hot. There's nobody here who believes Raul has had his last good days in the big leagues."

Sat May 3 201401:32Raul Ibanez goes 0-for-4 in loss
Raul Ibanez went 0-for-4 as the Angels' cleanup man and designated hitter on Friday.
Ibanez is hitting just .149 through 87 at-bats, but since he's somehow managed 17 RBI anyway, the Angels aren't likely to cast him off anytime soon. He sure doesn't make it easy for anyone behind him to drive in runs, though.

Sun Apr 27 201423:37Raul Ibanez pinch-hits in loss to Yankees
Raul Ibanez returned to action on Sunday, striking out as a pinch-hitter to make the final out of a loss to the Yankees.
Ibanez had been sidelined due to an illness, but was called upon to hit for Collin Cowgill with the tying run on second base with two outs in the ninth. Yankees closer David Robertson needed just four pitches to dispatch of him to end the game. It's likely that he'll return to his regular DH spot in the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Indians.

Sun Apr 27 201418:45Ibanez out of Sunday's lineup with illness
Raul Ibanez is not in the Angels starting lineup for Sunday night's game against the Yankees due to illness
Ibanez also sat out Saturday's game with the ailment. He's hitting just .157/.224/.314 at the plate this season, so perhaps the Halos are better off without him in the lineup. David Freese will serve as the designated hitter on Sunday with Ian Stewart covering the hot corner.

Sat Apr 26 201410:11Raul Ibanez not in Angels lineup on Saturday
Raul Ibanez is not in the Angels starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.
It's just a day of rest against opposing southpaw Vidal Nuno. The 41-year-old is off to a brutal start at the plate, slashing just .157/.224/.314, yet has still been a capable run producer with three homers and 15 RBI in his first 20 games. Albert Pujols will get the start in the DH spot with Ian Stewart moving over to cover first base.

Wed Apr 2 201401:28Ibanez parks one over the fence against M's
Raul Ibanez blasted a two-run homer in an 8-3 loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.
Ibanez's first two games of the season represent an exaggerated synecdoche of what you can expect going forward: He's 2-for-8 with five strikeouts, a single and a round-tripper. The Angels aren't expecting much contact -- and are expecting zero defense -- from their one-year, $2.75 million investment, but are hoping he's brought the juice of last season's 29 homers south with him from the Pacific Northwest. Twenty-four of those bombs came in the first half, so the jury's still out on the 41-year-old's ability to stave off biology once more.

Tue Mar 25 201419:24Ibanez hits second spring homer
Raul Ibanez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run against the Cubs on Tuesday.
Ibanez hit a solo homer off of Tsuyoshi Wada in the fourth inning, his second of the spring. The 41-year-old will hit out of the DH spot but may get some time in the field at first base and in left field.

Sun Mar 16 201420:20Raul Ibanez will play first base on Monday
Raul Ibanez will get a chance to play first base in Monday's Cactus League contest against the Giants.
Aside from one game with the Phillies in 2010, Ibanez hasn't logged any time at first base since the 2005 season. If he or Kole Calhoun can prove to be capable as a backup to Albert Pujols there, the Angels will have far greater flexibility with their final bench spot.

Tue Mar 4 201418:24Ibanez hits his first homer of spring
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run against the Rangers on Tuesday.
The 42-year-old went deep for the first time this spring. Ibanez should primarily serve as the DH, but manager Mike Scioscia recently said the veteran could play at first base and left field. Obviously, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton man those respective positions and will need a breather from time to time.

Wed Feb 19 201412:59Scioscia wants Ibanez to play some 1B/LF
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Wednesday that he'd like Raul Ibanez to be able to play some left field and first base this season.
The Angels signed Ibanez with the idea of using him as their primary designated hitter, but Scioscia would like to see some versatility. Entering his age-42 season, it's probably best that we don't see him in the field very often.

Fri Dec 27 201316:58Angels announce signing of Raul Ibanez
Angels signed DH Raul Ibanez to a one-year, $2.75 million contract.
Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times passed along the contract details. Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register hears that he could make as much as $5 million if he reaches certain incentives. Ibanez, 41, put up 29 homers and a .793 OPS with the Mariners this past season. He should see most of his at-bats out of the DH spot with the Angels.

Wed Dec 18 201322:59Angels and Ibanez agree on one-year contract
The Angels and Raul Ibanez have agreed on a one-year, $2.75 million deal, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.
The deal includes incentives that could make the contract worth up to $5 million. The 41-year-old will serve as the Angels' primary designated hitter with Mark Trumbo gone. The left-handed Ibanez experienced a career revival in 2013, hitting 29 home runs as a member of the Mariners.

Wed Dec 18 201310:59Report: Angels close to deal with Raul Ibanez
The Angels "seem close" to a deal with Raul Ibanez, according to MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo.
Given his poor defense, it was wise for Ibanez to remain in the American League. The 41-year-old is likely relegated to a DH role at this point in his career. With that caveat out of the way, this could prove to be a nice under-the-radar signing by Jerry Dipoto. Ibanez, who collected 29 homers and a .793 OPS in just under 500 plate appearances while playing in a pitcher's park this past season, should provide cheap pop to the Angels lineup. Orange County Register Angels' beat writer Jeff Fletcher reported that the contract is one-year, $2.75 million and could be finalized as soon as Wednesday.
