Bruney, 28, posted a 7.64 ERA and 2.32 WHIP in 19 appearances for the Nationals this year before they gave up on him. He made his way around the league after his release, but didn't pitch another inning in the bigs. Maybe things will turn around for the right-hander in south Chicago.

He may never get to join his old pal Francisco Rodriguez in the big leagues, but it's an interesting place for him to end up. Brewers signed RHP Brian Bruney to a minor league contract.
Well, he certainly picked a place where he could make an impact if things continue to go south with Trevor Hoffman. With that in mind, Bruney's contract has an out-clause in a month. Sun May 16 201018:25Nationals DFA Bruney to make room for Storen
Nationals designated RHP Brian Bruney for assignment.
Someone had to go to make room for Drew Storen and Bruney took the fall. Expected to be in the mix for late-inning duties in Washington heading into the season, Bruney instead fell on his face, posting a 7.64 ERA in 17 2/3 innings this season. More troubling was that his old control problems cropped up. His 16/20 K/BB rate just wasn't going to cut it. The 28-year-old has a live arm and plenty of potential, so some team should bite during the waiver process.
