ATLANTA (AP) — Forward Jeremy Evans, the 2012 NBA slam-dunk contest champion and six-year NBA veteran, has signed a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks.Evans averaged 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in 39 games with the Hawks' G League Erie affiliate this season. F Jeremy Evans was recalled by Dallas on Sunday from the D-League Texas Legends.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Thursday that Evans is expected to see time at both power forward and center this season, Earl K. Sneed of FOX Sports Southwest reports.

The 6-foot-9 Evans brings plenty of athleticism to the table, but he's a bit unrefined as a post player and received just seven minutes per game with the Jazz last season. Evans is working to expand his range to the three-point line during training camp in an effort to become a more all-around threat, though he doesn't figure to see enough run in order to earn many opportunities from deep.

Evans agreed to a two-year deal with the Mavericks worth the league minimum, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

Evans had spent his entire career in Utah where he only averaged double-digit minutes once during those five seasons. Other than a Slam Dunk Champion trophy on his mantle, the 27-year-old failed to make a lasting impression on the court during his tenure in Utah and there's a slim chance that he'll be able to improve his standing over the next two seasons under coach Rick Carlisle.

Evans spent most of his fifth season in the NBA on the bench but did manage to average seven minutes on the court over 38 total appearances.

Evans saw a career-high 18.3 minutes per game last year but the coaching change to Quin Snyder this season resulted in Evans getting stuck on the pine. Most notably Evans will become a free agent this offseason if the Jazz choose not to offer him a new deal. Either way, it's unlikely that the former Slam Dunk Champion will have a large role on any team that he finds himself on next season.

Evans has been given just 13 total minutes on the court over the first three games in April.

Evans has seen more time on the court in the latter half of the season than in the first half, although he still doesn't spend enough time on the hardwood to make him relevant in standard leagues. The tenured 27-year-old hasn't been given more than 18 minutes in any game this season and it's unlikely that he'll break that benchmark before the season comes to an end.

Evans came off the bench for six minutes in Monday's destruction of the Hornets.

Evans sees limited time off the bench in Utah and that's not expected to change moving forward as the season comes to a close. Unless a wave of injuries hurts the Jazz soon, the five-year pro is slated to average less than 10 minutes per game for the fourth time in his career.

Evans came off the bench for 13 minutes during Friday's lopsided victory over the Nuggets. He managed to record one rebound, one assist, and one block during his brief stint on the court.

Evans is an afterthought in Utah and saw garbage time during Friday's game. He and Gordon Hayward are Utah's longest tenured players but that doesn't make Evans into a viable candidate for production. As a result, the pride of Western Kentucky is better left on the waiver wire in almost every depth of format.

Evans (illness) was available off the bench for Friday's matchup against the Suns, but he was not inserted into the game at the hand of coach Quin Snyder.

Evans was dealing with an illness but his availability for Friday's game denotes that he's returned to health, and per usual this season, he stayed on the bench. The tenured Jazzman has fallen out of favor with Snyder and is not expected to play significant minutes at any point this season.

Evans came down with an illness and will not play in Monday's game against the Celtics, Aaron Falk of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Reports surfaced during the first quarter stating Evans was dealing with an illness and will not be available. The reserve forward did not enter the game and has played only eight minutes over his previous five contests.

Evans has made just 16 appearances on the season and is averaging 4.3 minutes on the court over those contests.

Evans is the last option off the bench for coach Quin Snyder in Utah. To make matters worst, the Jazz are starting to bring players in for 10-day contracts who are seeing more time on the court than Evans. This trend won't likely cease before the season comes to an end, meaning that the pride of Western Kentucky should be passed over in virtually every depth of format.

Evans has made just 12 appearances on the season and averaged 4.3 minutes over those contests.

Evans is out of favor with coach Quin Snyder and is consequentially an afterthought in Utah. Even with multiple injuries to the Jazz, the 27-year-old is hardly an option in any depth of format.

Evans is averaging just 3.4 minutes on the court over nine appearances with the Jazz this season.

Evans has been a staple on the bench for the Jazz over the past five seasons; just good enough to maintain a spot on the roster, but not skilled enough to actually see significant time on the court. He appeared to make some headway last season when he averaged 18.3 minutes per game on 66 appearances, although that's more of a testament to the lack of frontcourt depth on the roster during the 2013-14 campaign. Unless a wave of injuries falls upon coach Quin Snyder's squad, the Jazz faithful will have to admire the former Slam Dunk Contest champion as a limited option off the bench.

Evans (ankle) will be available off the bench for the Jazz on Friday against the Magic.

Evans missed a total of six games with a sprained ankle but will finally be available as an option off the bench for coach Quin Snyder on Friday. However, the 27-year-old is averaging just 2.6 minutes on the court this season and will likely be used sparingly if Snyder does in fact call his number.

Evans (ankle) sat out for the sixth-straight time Wednesday against the Raptors.

Evans sprained his ankle in practice back on Nov. 28 and has been unable to play ever since. Without an official timetable for return, the moderately used off the bench 27-year-old should be considered day-to-day moving forward.
