Veteran outfielder Steven Souza Jr. announced his retirement from professional baseball on Wednesday. He tweeted out "Time to call it a Career" and also included a thank you message to all the individuals that helped him throughout his career. The 33-year-old spent a total of eight years in the majors and compiled 72 homers to go along with a .229/.318/.411 slash line. His best season came back in 2017 when he hit 30 home runs as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Seattle Mariners signed outfielder Steven Souza Jr. to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to Spring Training. The 32-year-old could make up to $1 million if he makes the big league roster. He slashed .152/.222/.333 with a triple, homer, and three RBI over 36 plate appearances for the Dodgers in 2021. The veteran hit 30 home runs and swiped 16 bags for the Rays back in 2017. Souza hasn't seen everyday at-bats since then and is not on the fantasy radar in 2022, even if he does make the team.

The 31-year-old Souza spent last season with the Cubs, appearing in 11 games and hitting .148 with one homer and five RBIs. Souza has spent six seasons in the majors, playing for the Nationals, Rays and Diamondbacks. He is a career .232 hitter with 70 doubles, 71 homers and 203 RBIs. His best year came with Tampa Bay in 2017 when he was named the team’s MVP after setting career highs in homers (30), RBIs (78), walks (84) and steals (16).
