Wed Jul 22 201513:41Varnado played with Pelicans in Las Vegas Summer League
Varnado played with the Pelicans in the Las Vegas Summer League. He averaged 1.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.4 blocks in 10 minutes per game through five games.
Dealing with an injury to his right Achilles that he suffered in October, Varnado did not appear in an NBA game last season, and was waived by the 76ers. Varnado played in eight D-League games, averaging 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 0.3 steals in 23 minutes per game. Most likely, Varnado will be invited to a training camp, but it is not clear if he will be signed for next season.
Tue Oct 7 201416:48Varnado waived by Sixers on Tuesday
Varnado was waived by the Sixers on Tuesday, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Mon Oct 6 201412:54Varnado (Achilles) did not travel with team to Boston

He has a sore Achilles and appears to be closer to week-to-week than day-to-day right now.
Fri Oct 3 201415:24Varnado (Achilles) continued to be held out of practice Friday
Varnado (Achilles) continued to be held out of practice Friday, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.
Varnado left Thursday's practice and the absence continued into Friday. Despite the time away, this measure still seems to be precautionary when considering that Varnado has a chance to make the Sixers' final roster this season. If he does ultimately stay in Philadelphia, the 26-year-old will provide relief off the bench to Henry Sims and Nerlens Noel.

Varnado left Thursday's practice early due to a sore right Achilles.
The big man was likely held out for precautionary reasons, but he'll be examined by the team before returning to action. One of the best shot-blockers in NCAA history, Vernado is yet to find a place in the league since his selection in the second round of the 2010 draft. To date, he's appeared in only 37 NBA games with the Celtics, Heat, Bulls and Sixers.
Mon Apr 14 201422:32Jarvis Varnado plays 16 minutes in return
Jarvis Varnado (heel) played 16 minutes against the Celtics on Monday with four points, one board, one assist and two blocks.
He sat out on Saturday due to soreness in his heel and there was no word on his status before the game started. Varnado looked good in the D-League this year for his high block totals and its' translated with 29 blocks in just 22 games with the Sixers. He still has little fantasy value outside of that, though.

Sat Apr 12 201418:40Jarvis Varnado (sore heel) out Saturday
Jarvis Varnado will not play at Charlotte on Saturday due to a sore right heel.
This leaves Philly even thinner than usual behind starting center Henry Sims, and Al Jefferson should have a field day in the paint. Varnado should be considered day-to-day in advance of Monday's home game.

Sat Mar 29 201422:04Jarvis Varnado scores nine points vs. DET
Jarvis Varnado blocked six shots vs. the Pistons on Saturday with nine points, three boards and one assist in 21 minutes.
He's basically the best rim protector on the team, which is by far the weakest part of this Sixers team. Obviously, they have a whole laundry list of weaknesses, but Varnado on the court is a nice fit for the second unit. If you need blocks in a deeper league, he's a player to think about with Byron Mullens (ankle) out.

Wed Mar 19 201422:13Jarvis Varnado with four blocks in loss
Jarvis Varnado came off the bench for seven points, three rebounds and four blocks in 16 minutes on Wednesday.
It was hit turn for a solid game, while starter Henry Sims hit just 2-of-9 shots for four points, five boards and no blocks. It has to be a pretty deep league if you're looking at owning Varnado, or starting Sims.

Tue Mar 11 201412:1676ers sign Jarvis Varnado for rest of season
The 76ers have signed Jarvis Varnado for the rest of the 2013-14 season.
Varnado's deal also comes with a team option for guaranteed money next season, according to reports. The 26-year-old has averaged 15.5 minutes over his past four games and has posted averages of 3.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks during that span. He doesn't have a ton of fantasy value in standard leagues, but Varnado can provide some value for owners in deeper leagues.

Sun Mar 2 201421:14Jarvis Varnado blocks three shots for Sixers
Jarvis Varnado played 15 minutes in the Sixers' loss on Sunday, finishing with two points, three rebounds and three blocks.
Varnado flashed his potential while averaging 4.7 blocks in the D-League this season, and given the state of Philly's frontcourt he's worth keeping a close eye on in deeper formats. Fellow backup big man Byron Mullens chipped in five points and four rebounds in 14 minutes, while starting center Henry Sims scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards in 31 minutes.

Sat Mar 1 201410:3876ers sign PF Jarvis Varnado
76ers sign PF Jarvis Varnado.
Varnado averaged 14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 4.7 blocks in the D-League, but he played just two minutes during his first NBA stint with the Bulls this season. The Sixers are far more likely to give him playing time, given the state of their frontcourt, but he should be watched from a distance until we've seen him producing.

Tue Feb 18 201412:37Bulls sign PF Jarvis Varnado
Bulls sign PF Jarvis Varnado.
Varnado will join the team on a 10-day contract as the Bulls continue to sail just below the luxury-tax threshold. He's been leading the D-League with 4.7 blocks per game, while also averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds, but it's doubtful he'll make any fantasy impact off Chicago's bench.

Tue Feb 18 201400:21Jarvis Varnado signs a 10-day with the Bulls
The Bulls plan to sign Jarvis Varnado to a 10-day contract, according to Yahoo! Sports.
He is expected to travel with the team for Wednesday's game against the Raptors. Varnado has been a stat-stuffing machine in the D-League this season, averaging 14 points, 11 boards and 4.7 blocks per game. He's only worth a look in very deep leagues for now.

Sun Jan 12 201417:59Sixers to work out Jarvis Varnado
The Sixers will work out Jarvis Varnado on Monday.
He made the All Showcase Team in the D-League last week with some impressive defense. Varnado was also turning some heads in Las Vegas Summer League and he does have some talent despite being a little raw. In 18 games in the D-League, Varnado is averaging 14.3 points, 11.4 boards and 4.7 blocks, so he'd be on the radar in deep leagues with the Sixers having no depth.

Mon Oct 21 201312:56Heat waive PF Jarvis Varnado
The Heat waived PF Jarvis Varnado on Monday.
The 25-year-old out of Mississippi State was close to signing with a team in Italy before joining the Heat for training camp. He has overseas experience in both Israel and Italy and we're unlikely to see him in an NBA uniform this season.

Wed Sep 4 201312:51Miami Heat may enter season w/ 13 players
To avoid unnecessary luxury-tax payments, the Heat may enter the season with 13 guaranteed contracts their roster.
"Starting with fewer players makes sense for the Heat," according to beat writer Ira Winderman. "Especially when prospects could be developed at their D-League affiliate without NBA salary (and tax) attached." The Heat proved their determination to trim tax payments when they waived productive veteran Mike Miller earlier this summer, and guys without guaranteed deals, like Jarvis Varnado, will be on the hot seat during training camp.

Sun Aug 18 201313:30Varnado's agent says he will report to Heat
The agent for F Jarvis Varnado says his client is not going to play in Italy and will report for training camp for the Heat.
His contract will become partially guaranteed on opening night and all indications are that he plans on playing for the Heat this season, despite being contacted by several European teams. "Fact is, Jarvis is under contract with the Heat," agent Mitch Frankel said. "Jarvis hasn't accepted any offer from any team in Europe and Jarvis plans on playing for the Heat next year." He's not going to see many minutes if that's the case, but he already has one championship ring and could be in line for another one if all goes well in Miami.

Sun Aug 18 201308:27Jarvis Varnado near deal with Italian team
Jarvis Varnado is close to signing with Sidigas Avellino of Serie A in Italy.
It would be the big man's second tour of duty in Italy. Varnado's NBA career has been brief, totaling 16 games between the Heat and Celtics. A return to Miami was in doubt once the team signed Greg Oden.

Mon Aug 5 201309:52Jarvis Varnado might be odd man out of Miami
Jarvis Varnado's roster spot with the Heat may not be guaranteed for the upcoming season.
The team picking up Greg Oden on a two-year deal could send him to the D-League like last year. Varnado made his presence known in summer league with 2.5 blocks and he did a good job pushing his weight around. Oden's minutes are going to be monitored and he's going to need to miss some time one way or another, so expect Varnado to get some minutes at some point. He's not on the fantasy radar.
