CHICAGO (AP) — The Washington Wizards decided they needed to shake things up with All-Star point guard John Wall out for the season.Otto Porter Jr. is gone. Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis are in.Washington traded Porter to the struggling Chicago Bulls on Wednesday for Parker, Portis and a protected 2023 second-round pick."I know what he's capable of doing," the Wizards' Bradley Beal said. "He has the ability to go lead a young team now, so I know he'll do well there, or wherever he may end up. We'll welcome Bobby and Jabari and just keep moving forward."The Wizards changed up their front court in the aftermath of the news that Wall needs surgery for a ruptured left Achilles tendon and is expected to miss much — if not all — of next season. Clippers coach Doc Rivers said that both Johnson and Paul Pierce could find themselves in the starting lineup at small forward at various points this season, Janis Carr of the Orange County Register reports. "I think it's going to be one of those things where it changes from night to night," Rivers said. "There will be nights when Wes starts, nights when Paul starts. I think we're versatile enough to be able to do that."
Rivers noted that the two main factors that would determine which player gets the starting nod on a given night would be "matchups and Paul's age," with the latter reason seemingly indicating that Johnson could enter the lineup at least once during back-to-back sets. Johnson, who started 59 games with the Lakers last season, isn't expected to come close to reaching the 29.5 minutes he averaged in 2014-15, but he should be a useful role player for his new squad. That said, his value is expected to be limited more to daily formats than season-long leagues, as Pierce's availability (or lack thereof) will result in wide variation in his minutes.
Thu Oct 1 201516:27Johnson likely starter for Friday's exhibition opener
Johnson is the likely starter for Friday's exhibition opener, Ben Bolch of the LA Times reports.
Johnson appears to have the upper hand over Paul Pierce and Josh Smith for the starting small forward gig, though it's unclear what kind of workload he'll see, from a minutes perspective. Pierce and Smith are obviously more proven commodities, though each may see more specialized roles off the bench, and placing Johnson in the starting five would enable him to focus more intently on the defensive end of the court. Of course, plenty can change before the start of the regular season, but as of Thursday, coach Doc Rivers appears to be leaning toward Johnson.

Johnson may be considered for the Clippers' starting small forward role in 2015-16, the Orange County Register reports.
Signed in the offseason at the veteran minimum, Johnson is coming off back-to-back seasons with the Lakers in which he started 121 of his 155 appearances. Standing in his way on the other Staples Center tenant is Paul Pierce, who inked a more lucrative three-year deal with the Clippers this summer. Paychecks aside, coach Doc Rivers may base his decision on preservation of Pierce for the postseason, as long as Johnson acclimates well to an otherwise unchanged starting five. Whoever earns the job will have the luxury of little resistance from three-point range, as Matt Barnes did the past few seasons. Per NBA.com, Johnson knocked down a proficient 42.5 percent from beyond the arc in 2014-15 when he was afforded six-plus feet from the nearest defender, which could translate nicely in an offense helmed by Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Perhaps Johnson's greatest challenge will be taking on the top opposing wing, which he'll have the chance to prove in his initial outings with the Clippers.
Tue Jul 7 201515:24Johnson has signed with Clippers on minimum deal
Johnson has signed with the Clippers on a minimum deal, Sam Amick of USA Today reports.
Johnson will likely fill a depth role off of the Clippers' bench this coming season after averaging 9.9 points per game over 29.5 minutes with the Lakers in 2014. The deal is yet to be finalized, but it is expected to be for the veteran minimum.

Johnson had an up-and-down season with the Lakers, struggling to find a consistent role for much of the season under new coach Byron Scott. The former lottery pick averaged 9.9 points, 1.2 three-pointers, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.6 blocks in 30 minutes through 76 games. He shot 41 percent from the field on 9.1 attempts and 80 percent from the line on 1.5 attempts.
Johnson was a hidden gem last season, playing power forward under Mike D'Antoni, ending the season as one of only two players to average at least 1.0 block, steal and three-pointer per game. Shifting down to his more natural position on the wing, Johnson could not replicate those numbers, despite playing more minutes per game. With the Los Angeles roster far from set in concrete, and Johnson himself, an unrestricted free agent, his fantasy value for next season remains up in the air. Wherever he ends up, if Johnson can garner 30 minutes a night, he becomes an interesting fantasy option for the hard to acquire fantasy stats, but it's unlikely he'll find himself on a team as talent-poor as this year's iteration of the Lakers.

Johnson (ankle) will not play Wednesday against the Kings.
Johnson will sit out the regular season finale, and he'll end the season with averages of 9.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.5 minutes. The forward is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Johnson (ankle) is officially listed as doubtful for Wednesday's season finale, Eric Pincus of Basketball Insiders reports.
He did make the trip with the Lakers to Sacramento on Monday to continue to receive treatment, but it appears as if he'll remain out with a sprained ankle. Either Ryan Kelly or Jabari Brown will likely take his place in the starting lineup.
Mon Apr 13 201513:17Johnson (ankle) will travel with team to Sacramento on Monday
Johnson (ankle) will travel with the team to Sacramento on Monday, but will not play, Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports.
Johnson was initially expected to skip the team's trip to Sacramento, but he will instead join the club and receive treatment from the training staff. While he won't play Monday, it's still possible he'll rejoin the lineup for Wednesday's regular season finale. Either Ryan Kelly or Jabari Brown are expected to start at small forward in his place.
Mon Apr 13 201500:21Johnson (ankle) not expected to travel to Sacramento for Monday'...
Johnson (ankle) is not expected to travel to Sacramento for Monday's game against the Kings, Mark Medina of the LA Daily News reports.
Johnson sprained his ankle shortly before halftime of Sunday's loss to the Mavericks, but he did first manage to put up 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 3PT), a rebound and two assists in 20 minutes. He's likely done for the season, as the Lakers' only remaining games are both against the Kings, on Monday and then Wednesday. Coach Byron Scott has been using an eight-man rotation, so Johnson's minutes will need to be divided between multiple players. Jordan Clarkson, Jabari Brown and Ryan Kelly all logged 39 or more minutes in Sunday's loss, with Dwight Buycks chipping in 24 off the bench. Given that all of the Lakers' other healthy players strictly play power forward and/or center, Kelly could get a lot of run as the nominal small forward in the final two games.

Johnson left Sunday's game against the Mavericks at halftime with a moderate left ankle sprain, Mike Trudell of Lakers.com reports.
Johnson has been ruled out for the remainder of the contest, after putting up 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 3PT), a rebound and two assists over 20 minutes in the first half. The Lakers are already paper-thin on the wing, and they've been using an eight-man rotation that relies heavily on Johnson, Jordan Clarkson, Ryan Kelly and Jabari Brown. If Johnson can't return for Monday's game in Sacramento, the Lakers will divide his minutes among their remaining healthy players, with Dwight Buycks likely to get the largest bump. Clarkson and Brown have already been getting minutes in the high-30s.

Johnson grabbed a double-double with 11 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 38 minutes of action Friday against the Blazers.
Johnson's 15-rebound performance was an anomaly, but that doesn't mean his solid production elsewhere should be ignored. He's averaging 10.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.0 blocks over the last five games -- numbers that would warrant ownership in 14-man leagues and competitive 12-man leagues.

Johnson scored 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-2 3Pt) with five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 39 minutes during Monday's loss to the Warriors.
After scoring just 12 points in his previous two games combined, Johnson was able to bounce back with a solid night. Nick Young (knee) doesn't seem likely to return within the next couple of weeks, if he plays again this season at all, so Johnson should continue to have modest, if inconsistent, fantasy value.

Johnson (calf) contributed four points, three rebounds, two steals, and two blocks in 33 minutes against the Knicks on Thursday.
Johnson was dealing with a minor calf injury ahead of Thursday's game but it didn't hold him back from playing a full compliment of minutes against the Knicks. He should be available moving forward, barring any future injuries.
Thu Mar 12 201514:26Johnson (calf) through shootaround and will play Thursday
Johnson (calf) went through shootaround and will play Thursday, Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reports.
Johnson did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a minor calf injury, and it sounds like it may have been more of a maintenance day. Coach Byron Scott said Johnson will be available Thursday, and he'll likely see his usual complement of 25-30 minutes. Johnson is riding a five-game double-figure scoring streak, and he's shooting 42 percent from three in March on 3.2 attempts per game.

Johnson (calf) missed practice Wednesday but is expected to play Thursday, Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News reports.
It looks to be nothing serious for Johnson, who was likely held out as a precaution more than anything else. Confirmation should come following shootaround, but expect Johnson to be available Thursday.
Sun Mar 8 201514:36Wesley Johnson: Will Start Sunday
Johnson will start in Sunday's game against the Mavericks, the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Coach Byron Scott continually changes his starting lineup so it would probably be unwise to assume that Johnson will remain in the starting lineup moving forward. Even so, he'll have an opportunity to prove otherwise as he takes over for Ryan Kelly on Sunday.
Thu Feb 5 201512:49Johnson (ankle) sprained ankle in Wednesday's loss to Bucks
Johnson (ankle) sprained his ankle in Wednesday's loss to the Bucks. He finished with seven points, four rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 18 minutes off the bench.
Johnson sprained the ankle in the first half and left the game, but he was able to play through it in the second half. He's averaged 28 minutes per game over his last five, despite coming off the bench. Considering that, it's hard to know if the Lakers limited Johnson's minutes as a result of his injury or if the Lakers' ever-changing rotation simply resulted in him playing less minutes Wednesday. Regardless, his averages of 9.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.8 steals, 0.7 blocks, and 1.2 three-pointers don't add up to enough production to warrant rostering in standard leagues. The across-the-board stats are nice, but Johnson simply doesn't do enough in the points, rebounds, and assists categories to make the rest of his contributions relevant.

Johnson will attempt to play on his sprained ankle Wednesday at Milwaukee, the Lakers' official site reports.
While the sprain is considered minor, Johnson's stay on the court could be a brief one, if it doesn't respond well. Any minutes that he yields will likely be picked up by fellow reserve Nick Young.
