Pekovic (Achilles) was working out with a medicine ball at Monday's practice.
Pekovic appeared to be in good shape during the workout, as he was reportedly tossing the medicine ball up to 20 rows up the stands from the sidelines. The big man will continue to work on core exercises and implement other light activity as he continues to rehab his right Achilles' tendon, but there's been no word on when he might be cleared to resume basketball-related activities. He's expected to sit out at least the first several weeks of the regular season.

Pekovic admitted at Monday's Media Day that he's still seven or eight weeks away from full healthy, Derek James of 1500 ESPN reports.
Pekovic has been plagued by ankle/Achilles issues for the last couple of seasons, and he was limited to only 31 games in 2014-15. He underwent Achilles surgery in April and was initially given a 5-6 month timetable. It appears as though he's slightly behind in his recovery, and at this point it's very unlikely that he's available when the regular season begins at the end of October. Even when healthy, Pekovic figures to see a reduced role, as Kevin Garnett is expected to start at center. The Wolves also feature Gorgui Dieng, as well as rookie Karl Anthony Towns, who will see minutes at both power forward and center.
Sat Sep 26 201517:45Pekovic (Achilles) isn't expected to play during preseason
Pekovic (Achilles) isn't expected to play during the preseason, Jerry Zgoda of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Pekovic is expected to come off the bench for the Timberwolves this season, and his lack of playing time in the preseason could limit his minutes even more to begin the season. Considering the Timberwolves also roster Karl-Anthony Towns and Gorgui Dieng at the center position, he will need to battle for minutes regardless of his health.

Pekovic is expected to come off the bench this upcoming season after his coach, Flip Saunders, declared that Kevin Garnett will be a starter, Jon Krawczynski of the Associated Press reports.
With Kevin Garnett at power forward and rookie Karl-Anthony Towns at center, Pekovic will have to make an impact off the bench while he also competes for playing time with Gorgui Dieng. When considering that Pekovic is coming off a season where he played just 31 games due to a lingering ankle injury, it seems that his standard-league relevancy has all but vanished this offseason.

Pekovic, coming off yet another injury, looks set to lose minutes with the Minnesota Timberwolves selecting Karl-Anthony Towns with the number one pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
Pekovic played just 31 games in 2014-15, at 26 minutes per night, and that time on the court will likely decrease. Pekovic is no longer someone who should be considered an option in most standard leagues.

Pekovic (Achilles) was limited to only 31 games in 2014-15 due to recurring injuries. in 26.3 minutes, Pekovic averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot just 42.4 percent from the field.
Injuries have been an issue since Pekovic entered the league in 2010, and he's yet to play more than 65 games in a single season. After missing 28 games last season, he missed 51 in 2014-15, due in large part to an ankle/Achilles injury that nagged him for several months. While rehabbing a wrist injury in November, Pekovic aggravated the ankle injury and would go on to miss two months before returning to the court in late-January. He played about a month-and-a-half before again aggravating the ankle injury against Phoenix on Mar. 11. It would prove to be Pekovic's final game of the season, and he was officially shut down on Mar. 30. About a week later, Pekovic underwent surgery on the ankle/Achilles, a procedure that is expected to entail a 5-to-6 month recovery period. That timetable puts him on track to be ready for the start of training camp, though it's certainly not a guarantee that he'll heal as quickly as expected. Given Pekovic's injury history and liability as a defender, the rebuilding Wolves would likely jump at the opportunity to move the center, especially with Gorgui Dieng coming off of a promising second season. However, Pekovic signed a five-year, $60 million deal in the summer of 2013 that now looks to be one of the most immovable contracts in the NBA. He'll remain under contract for $12.1 million in 2015-16.
