The Phoenix Suns signed guard Elijah Millsap to a multiyear contract on Sunday from their NBA Development League affiliate.The two-year NBA veteran played for the Northern Arizona Suns and was the leading scorer in the team's inaugural D-League season.Millsap, 29, averaged a team-high 19.7 points in addition to 7.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 50 games (all starts) with the NAZ Suns this season. He led the NAZ Suns with 13 double-doubles and had the highest-scoring game in team history with a career-high 38 points in the season finale at Reno on April 1.The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Millsap averaged 4.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 16.4 minutes over 67 games in two seasons with the Utah Jazz from 2014-16.Millsap has played professionally for clubs in Israel and the Philippines. He is the younger brother of Atlanta Hawks forward and four-time NBA All-Star Paul Millsap.

Millsap came off the bench for 25 minutes in Wednesday's preseason game against the Lakers to contribute eight points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Millsap seems to be in line for a limited role off the bench this coming season after having a breakout rookie campaign last year under coach Quin Snyder. Barring unexpected injuries to Gordon Hayward, Joe Ingles, and Rodney Hood, Millsap will likely struggle finding relevancy in standard-sized leagues.

Millsap joined the Jazz in January from the D-League and ended up playing 47 games during his rookie season.

Millsap was immediately inserted into coach Quin Snyder's rotation upon joining the team and ended the season playing an average of 19.7 minutes per game. The team has an option on his contract for next season so he'll be eagerly awaiting their decision over the offseason. However, it would be surprising if he didn't ultimately slot back into a similar off the bench behind Gordon Hayward. With that, the 27-year-old is a stretch to be taken in standard leagues for 2015-16 drafts when considering he'll also be competing for minutes with Rodney Hood.

Millsap returned to the bench Friday against the Nuggets but still managed to contribute 16 points, three rebounds, three steals, and one block in 17 minutes of action.

Millsap has had a fair share of opportunities as a starter this season, but hasn't provided enough consistency to maintain his spot. He's shown sparks of fantasy upside at times this season, and he could potentially be a solid option in future seasons. However, he can be massively ignored in all leagues for the next few weeks of the season.

Millsap will get the start at small forward Wednesday against the Blazers, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

With both Gordon Hayward (collarbone) and Rodney Hood (illness) out, Millsap will enter the starting lineup, pushing Joe Ingles back to the bench. Millsap played 30 minutes Monday, putting up 13 points and four rebounds while shooting 4-of-9 from the field.

Millsap logged 23 minutes of action off the bench against the Lakers on Thursday. He finished with three points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and two blocks.

Millsap dealt with concussion-like symptoms earlier in the week but the Utah medical staff came to the conclusion that he ultimately didn't have a concussion, meaning that he wasn't actually forced to miss anytime off the court. He's been a solid addition for the Jazz this season but he hasn't quite worked his way into standard-league relevancy just yet as he's averaging only 16.8 minutes over his last eight games.

Millsap (concussion) has been cleared to play Wednesday against the Wizards.

Millsap was diagnosed with a mild concussion following Monday's blowout win over the Hornets. The team initially stated that Millsap would not play Wednesday, but he's been cleared through the league's concussion protocol and looks to be good to go going forward.

Millsap entered the starting five with Gordon Hayward (back) sidelined Tuesday versus the Knicks. No matter, Millsap logged only 14 minutes due to foul trouble, while fellow reserve Joel Ingles accrued 36 minutes. In the last five outings, Millsap averaged 2.8 points (on 31 percent shooting), one rebound, and 0.8 assists in 14 minutes.

Millsap will get the start at small forward Tuesday against New York, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Quin Snyder is trotting out a lineup of Trey Burke, Dante Exum, Millsap, Favors, and Gobert on Tuesday with Gordon Hayward sidelined with a back injury. This will be his first start at small forward. In three starts at guard, Millsap is averaging 6.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over 36 minutes.

Millsap had 17 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 6-7 FT), seven rebounds and one assists in 30 minutes against the Lakers on Wednesday.

17 points is a new season high for Millsap, whose previous high was 12 points back on Jan. 21 against the Cavaliers in 21 minutes. He's played at least 26 minutes in six straight games, as the Jazz attempt to ease Rodney Hood back into the rotation. Hood has 11 points in 20 minutes on Wednesday.

Millsap scored seven points (1-3 FG, 5-6 FT) with seven rebounds, three assists and one steal in 36 minutes in his first NBA start Saturday.

With the Jazz missing Joe Ingles (back) and Rodney Hood (foot), Millsap was thrust into the limelight, but with Ingles and Hood due back very soon, any value Millsap has will be cut down. He is not someone that you need to pay a lot of attention to in most leagues.

Millsap will start for Joe Ingles (back) against the Kings on Saturday, the Deseret News reports.

Millsap is unlikely to play much more than his typical workload of 19 minutes per contest, especially with Trey Burke and Dante Exum present in the backcourt. Nevertheless, Millsap could hold value in the short term in terms of steals and three-pointers.
