F/C Lavoy Allen missed his second straight game with a sore right knee. He participated in pregame drills, but couldn't play.

F Lavoy Allen started in Thaddeus Young's absence. He scored 18 points in his first start against Detroit, the most he scored in his four years with the Pacers.

F Lavoy Allen, starting in place of Thaddeus Youngon, celebrated his 28th birthday by scoring a season-high 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for Indiana.

"I think that's our future starting five. It's just right now we need a spark, and I think this is the answer." Allen had two points and one rebound in 12:32, and Turner had eight and 10, respectively, in 26:35.

Allen is expected to play more minutes at power forward and center this season, NBA.com reports. "We think he's ready to step in and play more minutes at two different positions," Pacers President Larry Bird said. "This is a great opportunity for him to play night in and night out at a high level."

Allen averaged 17 minutes per game last season. The departure of Roy Hibbert, David West, and Luis Scola certainly opens up the frontcourt playing time. Allen will have to compete with incumbent Ian Mahinmi and newcomer Jordan Hill, as well as appointed power forward Paul George. Allen is a tremendous offensive rebounder with some passing skill and a tinge of shooting range. The increased role should place him on the radar of deep leagues that use offensive rebounds as a category.

Allen signed a three-year contract with the Pacers on Thursday, Basketball Insiders reports.

The deal includes a team option for the third season, but Allen has nonetheless achieved some security for the foreseeable future. Because the Pacers are dangling Roy Hibbert on the trade front and have already lost David West, Allen could pick up a larger than expected role in the frontcourt rotation this coming season. In parts of two campaigns in Indiana, Allen has put up 4.6 points (on 47 percent shooting), 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 15 minutes per game across 77 outings.

Allen averaged 5.0 points, 1.2 assists, 5.1 rebounds, 0.2 steals, and 0.7 blocks in 17 minutes per game for 63 regular season games in 2014-15. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Allen faired well while David West was injured, averaging 7.1 points, 1.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 0.3 steals, and 0.9 blocks in 22 minutes per game from the season opener through December. However, Allen returned to the bench once West was fully healthy, where he had a limited role for the remainder of the season. Heading into free agency, the power forward has yet to be a full-time starter for a team after four seasons in the NBA, and his production is limited until he falls into a favorable situation.

Allen was held scoreless in 14 minutes against the Bucks on Thursday.

Allen has not been a consistent member of the Pacers rotation since the middle of January. However, with Roy Hibbert (elbow) out, Allen saw some minutes with little productivity. With Hibbert not expected to miss much time, Allen will unlikely make a contribution in the near-term.

Allen (knee) returned from a six-game absence Friday against the 76ers. He scored two points (1-1 FG) and added one assist in six minutes.

Even when healthy, Allen has not reached double-digit minutes in his last four games, though he had been seeing workloads in the high teens or low twenties until mid-January. Allen is most valuable when some of the other rotation big men are injured, but that's not currently the case for the Pacers.

Allen (knee) is expected to play Friday at Philadelphia.

Allen last took the court on Jan. 29, missing the final six games before the break due a sore right knee. If he indeed suits up, he'll provide support off the bench to the Pacers' frontcourt.

Allen (knee) won't take the court Wednesday at New Orleans.

Allen will miss his sixth outing in a row due to discomfort in his right knee. With the All-Star break imminent, though, caution is likely the best option at coach Frank Vogel's disposal to ensure that Allen is available for the Pacers' next tilt on Feb. 20.

Allen is in danger of missing a sixth consecutive contest, and the Pacers probably won't be inclined to rush him back for the final game before the All-Star break. That he's questionable suggests he should be ready to return next week.

Allen (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game.

He will miss his fifth straight game with a knee injury Monday, and at this point it would make sense for Allen to just sit out through the All-Star break. Ian Mahinmi is also questionable, meaning David West, Roy Hibbert and Luis Scola could be in for a lot of minutes Monday.

Allen (knee) will not play in Sunday's game against the Hornets.

Allen is dealing with soreness in his right knee and will stay off the court for the third straight game. He should be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's game against the Spurs.
