Wed Nov 17 201015:27Micah Hoffpauir signs to play in Japan
Micah Hoffpauir has signed a one-year deal with the Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan's Pacific League.
Hoffpauir mashed again at Triple-A this past season, but his success didn't translate to the major league level, as he batted just .173/.246/.231 with zero homers in 52 at-bats. His power lefty bat should do well in Japan.

Sat Aug 21 201009:19Cubs will wait to recall Hoffpauir
The Cubs will likely wait a while before they recall Micah Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa.
He's not eligible to be recalled yet since he was just sent down on the 13th. But the Cubs will keep him at Triple-A while Iowa fights for a playoff spot. There's also the fact that Tyler Colvin is going to give first base a shot with Derrek Lee no longer around, so Hoffpauir wouldn't immediately have a place to play. Hoffpauir is doing well at Triple-A again this season (.283-22-93), but he's been up for just seven at-bats with the big club.

Wed Aug 18 201018:06Cubs recall Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa
Cubs recalled 1B Micah Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa.
With Derrek Lee on his way to Atlanta, the Cubs have a big hole at first base and are likely to fill it in a variety of different ways. Hoffpaiur, 30, will see some time there but isn't a great fantasy bet. He has failed to register a hit in seven at-bats with the Cubs this season.
Fri Aug 13 201017:05Cubs demote 1B Hoffpauir
Cubs optioned first baseman-outfielder Micah Hoffpauir to Triple-A Iowa.
Hoffpauir went 0-for-7 with four strikeouts while Derrek Lee was absent. He'll be back in September, but the Cubs will almost surely make him a free agent this winter. Perhaps he'll be able to reestablish himself as a bench player elsewhere.
Tue Aug 10 201008:14Cubs recall Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa
Cubs recalled infielder-outfielder Micah Hoffpauir from Triple-A Iowa.
Hoffpauir managed 10 home runs and 35 RBI in limited time with the Cubs last season and has posted a respectable .875 OPS with similar pop this year in Iowa. But his playing time will probably be limited on a crowded Cubs roster and he is not going to be worth owning in fantasy leagues.
