Thu Mar 708:53Bismack Biyombo OK After Collapsing On Sideline
Oklahoma City Thunder center Bismack Biyombo has been medically cleared after he collapsed during the team's clash with Portland on Wednesday. Biyombo suddenly collapsed during a timeout in the second quarter while standing on the sideline. He appeared to have hurt his head when he fell backward into the benches, but the Congolese big man avoided any serious injury and was able to walk to the locker room. Biyombo will undergo further evaluations on Thursday. The 31-year-old has been with OKC for less than a month, averaging 5.8 minutes in four appearances.

Phoenix Suns center Bismack Biyombo (knee) is expected to play Wednesday against the Washington Wizards. Biyombo is dealing with some knee soreness on the second night of a back-to-back but will resume his normal reserve role behind teammate Deandre Ayton. If Biyombo is hobbled by the injury at all, Jock Landale would pick up some extra minutes.

Sun Jul 3 202216:28Bismack Biyombo Rejoins Suns For 2022-23 Season
Center Bismack Biyombo is returning to the Suns for the upcoming 2022-23 year, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports. After the departure of JaVale McGee in free agency, Phoenix was able to retain Biyombo's services after he appeared in 36 games for the team last season. While he was used sparingly as a reserve, the 29-year-old averaged 12 points and 9.7 rebounds across his three starts. Biyombo's role will largely be determined by whether Phoenix is able to retain center Deandre Ayton, a restricted free agent; a departure from the youngster could pave the way for Biyombo to garner season-long appeal early in the season, with the newly acquired Jock Landale also in competition for frontcourt minutes.

Wed May 19 202114:47Borrego hopes tough finish drives Hornets to take next step
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — While the Charlotte Hornets found a player to build around in point guard LaMelo Ball and made significant strides this season, coach James Borrego knows there’s plenty of work to do before his young team is ready to compete with the NBA’s elite. And he’s hoping a disappointing finish to the season will provide the impetus to get there. Charlotte was fourth in the Eastern Conference last month before injuries sent the team into a tailspin. The Hornets were 8-17 after Gordon Hayward went down with a season-ending foot injury and lost their final six games, including an embarrassing 144-117 loss to the Indiana Pacers in the play-in tournament. Borrego said the late season struggles serve as a “necessary step” for the Hornets. “Every great team, every great player has been hit in the mouth to close the season — every one of them,” Borrego said. “I have yet to see a player or organization from day one where they come out and are just rolling. It just doesn't happen. This... [More]
Thu Jan 21 202114:29Hornets starting C Cody Zeller ready to return to action
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Hornets starting center Cody Zeller is expected to return to action Friday night against the Chicago Bulls after missing four weeks with a broken bone in his left hand. Zeller went through a scrimmage on Wednesday and coach James Borrego on Thursday listed him as probable for the game. The 7-foot center will not be on a minutes restriction. Zeller said Thursday that he had no problems in the scrimmage and is ready to play. Given the injury is to his left non-shooting hand, he said he's not worried about his shot but added his concerns are “mostly catching a pass and rebounding. But it has felt good so far and I’m excited to get back out there.” Zeller was injured in Charlotte's season opener on Dec. 23 and has not played since. The Hornets are 6-7 without Zeller in the lineup, and have been repeatedly been outrebound by the opposition. It's unclear if Zeller will replace Bismack Biyombo in the starting lineup or come off the bench. Charlotte (6-8) has lost its last three games. ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/NBA and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Fri Jun 28 201915:18Analysis: In big-money times, NBA teams face biggest risks
Golden State owner and CEO Joe Lacob often uses the same phrase when asked about how much money the Warriors are willing to spend to keep a championship-contending roster together."Whatever it takes," Lacob says.In the NBA, those words have never been as weighty. The summer spending starts Sunday in the NBA, with teams and players set to reach agreements on more than $2 billion — maybe even more than $3 billion — in new deals over the next few days. It's a risk-reward play, one where teams must dig deeply into their pockets to land the best players and hope that those massive financial commitments don't end up crippling their franchise for years. The Warriors are likely to offer Kevin Durant a $221 million, five-year deal that will come with two big pills for the team to swallow. One, he'll be on a $38 million scholarship next season while he recovers from Achilles surgery and cannot play. And two, Durant would be owed more than $50 million when his then-35-year-old self plays the final year... [More]

There's another part that wants to compete for an NBA championship before he's too old. With the Hornets not ready to compete with the Golden State Warriors of the world, the 28-year-old Walker enters this offseason having to make a choice between loyalty and chasing a ring. And he's just not ready to do that just yet."I have no feeling right now, I don't know," Walker said of his impending decision in free agency this summer. "Honestly, I don't know what to expect. I guess it's a lot of different emotions bottled up into one. I'm not sure. I don't know."The three-time All-Star point guard is expected to be a hot commodity when free agency opens July 1.He's coming off his most productive season statistically, averaging a career-high 25.6 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds.
