Sun Oct 15 202320:29Cory Joseph And Rodney McGruder Sitting Out Against Kings
Golden State Warriors guards Cory Joseph (back) and Rodney McGruder (concussion protocol) will miss the team's preseason contest on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings. Head coach Steve Kerr expects Joseph to be able to play in a preseason game and is hopeful that McGruder can do the same. The latter is already in the later stages of the concussion protocol so his return is closer on the horizon. Both of them are still battling for backup roles, so they'll both need as many opportunities as they can get. Neither one should be fantasy-relevant in any league format.

Mon Aug 7 202300:23Cory Joseph Withdraws From Team Canada
Golden State Warriors guard Cory Joseph has withdrawn from Team Canada for their World Cup run this year. The 12-year veteran decided to withdraw so that he could focus on preparation for his season with the Warriors. Joseph hasn't been on a playoff team since the 2018-19 season with the Indiana Pacers. So, he could be taking this season very seriously since the Warriors will have championship hopes with their core still in tact this year.

Thu Jan 26 202314:50Cory Joseph Out On Thursday
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (back) won't play Thursday versus Brooklyn. The veteran made a good 18-minute cameo Monday versus Milwaukee with five points, three rebounds and seven assists, but he's had a very small role on the team throughout the campaign and Joseph's absence shouldn't have any effect on things. The Pistons have Killian Hayes (shoulder) back on Thursday and he will dictate the proceeding from the backcourt.

Thu Nov 17 202215:02Cory Joseph Questionable Thursday
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (hip) is questionable for Thursday's road game against the Clippers. He is carrying a sore left hip and already sat out Monday's loss to Toronto. The Pistons could really use Joseph right now, with Cade Cunningham (shin) having dropped out of the lineup and slated to miss at least three more games. The injuries have helped Killian Hayes to finally get his season going and Jaden Ivey has benefitted as well. Alec Burks is also a guy to monitor after he made his season debut last week and produced a pair of solid performances.

Mon Nov 14 202218:08Cory Joseph Downgraded To Out
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (hip) has been downgraded to out for Monday's game against the Toronto Raptors. He was held out of Saturday's contest as well due to hip soreness. That resulted in Killian Hayes getting the starting nod. He is worth looking at in deep leagues because of the extended playing time. However, Hayes doesn't shoot too well, so there's plenty of risk in streaming him.

Tue Jun 21 202220:30Cory Joseph Has Opted Into Player Option
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph has reportedly opted into his $5.1 million player option for next season. He averaged eight points and 3.6 assists across 65 games last season with Detroit. Joseph started 39 games for the Pistons, often times alongside Cade Cunningham. The expectation is that Cunningham will do more of the ball handling in his second season. That being said, Joseph is likely to have a reduced role in the Detroit rotation. He didn't offer much fantasy value to start, but it's likely to get worse heading into next season.

Thu Mar 31 202209:23Cory Joseph Questionable For Thursday
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (spine) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia 76ers. He is dealing with a right lumbar spine strain. The 30-year-old has been logging 25 minutes per game in March while averaging 7.9 points, 3.1 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. If he sits out on Thursday, second-year guard Killian Hayes stands to benefit. Hayes played 33 minutes off the bench in Tuesday's game and racked up 13 points, four rebounds, three assists, four steals and a block. Frank Jackson, Rodney McGruder and newly-signed guard Braxton Key could also see additional playing time if Joseph is out.

Sun Mar 20 202222:32Cory Joseph Might Sit Monday
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (rest) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Honestly, his availability could depend on the status of Killian Hayes (head) who is listed as probable. The Pistons would likely give Joseph the night off, assuming Hayes can play. Otherwise, Joseph could play Monday and have an uptick in value with Hayes sidelined.

Wed Dec 22 202108:32Cory Joseph Performs Well In Starting Unit
Detroit Pistons point guard Cory Joseph entered the starting unit on Tuesday against New York and had a decent performance with 15 points on 6-for-8 shooting, two rebounds and one assist. He was perfect with three attempts from deep and registered two turnovers in 25 minutes. Joseph took over from Killian Hayes (illness) in the starting five. Saben Lee also benefited from Hayes' absence and scored a team-high 16 points while logging a few extra minutes. Josephs has now made five starts this season, and his numbers are actually underwhelming, with the 30-year-old having recorded 7.8 points, two rebounds and 4.2 assists. He's not a reliable fantasy option.

Mon Dec 6 202117:18Cory Joseph Won't Play Monday
Detroit Pistons guard Cory Joseph (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was listed as doubtful heading into this contest due to right knee inflammation. It sounds like the organization will have him sit this one out to rest. Killian Hayes and Frank Jackson will benefit in the absence of Joseph. Jackson is the better option between the two and should have deep league value along with DFS appeal for Monday's slate.

Thu Aug 12 202121:18Cory Joseph Returning To Detroit
Free-agent guard Cory Joseph was re-signed by the Pistons on Thursday. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although it comes after the team recently waived him a few weeks ago. The veteran averaged 8.2 points, 3.4 assists, and 2.5 boards throughout 63 games with Sacramento and Detroit last season. However, with Killian Hayes and Cade Cunningham expected to play most of the minutes in the backcourt, Joseph has virtually no fantasy appeal at the moment. Nonetheless, if an injury occurs at some point during the year, he will likely pop up as a streaming option in fantasy leagues and as a value option in DFS formats.

Sun Aug 1 202115:09Cory Joseph Waived By Pistons
Guard Cory Joseph was waived by the Pistons and is now a free agent. The veteran began the 2020-21 campaign in Sacramento and was ultimately dealt to Detroit, where he played 19 games and averaged 12 points, 5.5 assists, and 1.2 steals. While it's probable Joseph will find work before the season begins in October, his days as a consistent fantasy option are probably over. However, the journeyman still has appeal in deeper formats, and he should remain on the radar if he ends up taking on a more substantial role at some point throughout the year.

Tue May 4 202122:52Hornets hold on for crucial 102-99 win over Pistons
DETROIT (AP) — LaMelo Ball scored 23 points, including two free throws with 5.8 seconds left, and the Charlotte Hornets took another step toward the postseason with a 102-99 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night. Detroit trailed by two when rookie Killian Hayes was fouled with 9.4 seconds remaining, but he made just one of two free throws. Ball made his free throws at the other end, and Hayes missed a last-second 3-pointer. Hamidou Diallo scored a career-high 35 points for Detroit. The Hornets are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and are in solid shape to make it at least to the play-in round. They are two games behind seventh-place Boston. “Every game’s important late in the season,” Charlotte's Terry Rozier said. “Melo came in and put us on his back.” Charlotte was without Miles Bridges, who was out because of health and safety protocols. “I don’t know the extent, the days. We have not confirmed that yet," coach James Borrego said before the game. “What that means,... [More]

Thu Mar 25 202120:22Trade deadline passes, and Kyle Lowry remains with Raptors
Kyle Lowry wound up staying with Toronto after all. Victor Oladipo is finally in Miami, a destination he's eyed in the past. And Rajon Rondo is headed back to Los Angeles, though not with the team he helped win the NBA title last season. The trade deadline has come and gone. And now, playoff pushes can really begin. Miami, Denver, the Clippers, Portland, Dallas, Boston and Atlanta were likely among the teams feeling convinced that they improved on deadline day after a flurry of moves Thursday, though the best player — at least this season — might have been landed by the Chicago Bulls. They got All-Star forward Nikola Vucevic from Orlando, a move that ushered in the start of a big-time rebuild by the Magic. “Anytime you trade a player like Nikola, it is a tough decision to make," Magic President Jeff Weltman said. Vucevic is the only player from this season's All-Star Game to be traded at the deadline. It was a steep price; Vucevic and Al-Farouq Aminu went to the Bulls for Otto Porter, Wendell... [More]

DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Pistons have agreed to trade guard Delon Wright to the Sacramento Kings for guard Cory Joseph and two second-round draft picks, according to a person with knowledge of the deal. The 6-foot-5 Wright has averaged 10.4 points a game this season for the rebuilding Pistons. They acquired the 28-year-old guard in an offseason move. He has also played for Dallas, Memphis and Toronto. The 29-year-old Joseph is averaging 6.6 points this season. He has spent the past season and a half with the Kings. Before that, he played for Indiana, Toronto and San Antonio. ESPN first reported the trade. ___ Follow Noah Trister at https://twitter.com/noahtrister ___ More AP NBA: https://apnews.com/tag/NBAbasketball

Mon Apr 22 201915:25Pacers face offseason questions after another 1st round exit
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — General manager Kevin Pritchard convinced himself the Indiana Pacers could contend for an Eastern Conference title by basically keeping the core rotation intact.Victor Oladipo's season-ending knee injury changed the whole equation. While the Pacers continued playing hard and won more often than many expected over the final two months, the absence of their All-Star guard prevented the Pacers from retaining one of the top four seeds or reaching the conference semifinals for the first time since 2014."Vic has been our closer for the last couple of years. To not have him on the court is big," point guard Darren Collison following Sunday's season-ending 110-106 loss to Boston. "Think about the playoffs he had last year and how amazing he was. Now, just imagine if we had that this year."It's hard not to.But even before Oladipo was wheeled off the court with a ruptured quad tendon in his right knee on Jan. 23, he struggled with a sore knee and it showed in the stats that were... Mon Sep 24 201815:37Pacers' new mission is to prove last season was no fluke
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana point guard Darren Collison made his position clear: The Pacers haven't done anything yet.Sure, they surprised everyone last season by posting a winning record, making the playoffs and forcing eventual Eastern Conference champion Cleveland to a seven-game series. They also think others around the league believe it could have been a fluke."I guess you'd kind of say we're still going under the radar," Collison said during the team's annual media day Monday. "People still think we haven't really accomplished anything yet, and we haven't, really. We made the playoffs, which is a good plus for a team that just got together. But at the same time, to have some success you've got to go further in the playoffs and I think that's where we're at right now."All-Star guard Victor Oladipo and promising center Myles Turner understand questions remain, too. Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard has even heard similar sentiments expressed during chats with... [More]
