Thu Sep 20 201819:15Atlanta Hawks dig in for another long slog
ATLANTA (AP) — There is almost certainly pain coming for the Hawks, or at least their fans, yet first-time NBA head coach Lloyd Pierce and second-year general manager Travis Schlenk refuse to notarize that word while in charge of Atlanta's only woebegone pro team.Training camp begins Tuesday for the team that last season lost more games than any other in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks were 24-58, and their offseason moves are not likely to move them closer to playoff contention. They're going to be painfully young outside of their two potential marquee players. Vince Carter, though, is 41 years old ahead of his 20th NBA season. And Jeremy Lin, 30, signed over the summer too, joining his seventh NBA team. Oh, and they signed 30-year-old center Cole Aldrich last week.Still, the brass is excited for training camp to open next Tuesday. The NBA, after all, is as much about massive rebuilds these days as it is assembling super teams. The Hawks qualify for the former, and Pierce knows that game... [More]

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks have signed forward Thomas Robinson, who last appeared in the NBA in the 2016-17 season with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 27-year-old Robinson spent last season in Russia.Robinson played in college at Kansas and was the No. 5 overall pick by Sacramento in the 2012 draft. He has played in 313 career games in five seasons with the Kings, Houston, Portland, Philadelphia, Brooklyn and the Lakers. He averaged 5.0 points and 4.6 rebounds in 48 games, including one start, with the Lakers in 2016-17.In a similar move this month, the Hawks signed center Alex Len, the 7-foot-1 Ukrainian who was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft by Phoenix, but he made little impact in five years with the Suns.

Robinson (wrist) participated in the non-contact portion of Monday's practice, Devin Kharpertian of TheBrooklynGame.com reports.
Robinson has sat out the Nets' previous two preseason tilts with a right wrist sprain. Unless he receives clearance to get in a full workout Tuesday, it seems unlikely that he'll be able to suit up for Wednesday's exhibition versus the Celtics.

Robinson will miss Thursday's preseason game against the Pistons due to a right wrist sprain, Andy Vasquez of the Bergen Record reports.
Robinson, who apparently hurt his wrist in the exhibition Monday against Turkish club Fenerbahce Ulker, was held out of practice Wednesday due to the injury, but he'll still travel with the Nets to Detroit. The wrist ailment isn't viewed as anything serious, so he should be back in action before long.

Robinson (right knee) made the start in Monday's exhibition against Fenerbahce Ulker of Turkey, scoring 12 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 FT) and 16 rebounds in 26 games.
Nets coach Lionel Hollins just handed Robinson the start as an experiment to see how he fared alongside Brook Lopez, as Thaddeus Young is in line to enter the lineup at power forward once the regular season starts. Still, Robinson, who was returning to action after offseason surgery to repair the meniscus in his knee, looked good while matching up against a Fenerbahce frontcourt that included former NBAers Jan Vesely and Ekpe Udoh. Nine of Robinson's 16 boards came on the offensive end, and if he can continue to hit the glass hard in the preseason, the former No. 5 overall pick could carve out a meaningful role in the Nets' frontcourt rotation.
Wed Sep 9 201515:15Robinson (meniscus surgery) has begun working out
Robinson (meniscus surgery) has begun working out, the NY Times reports.
Robinson underwent surgery to repair the meniscus in his right knee back in mid-July. He signed with the Nets shortly before that, and he should serve in a backup role behind their starting frontcourt of Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez. At this point, it appears Robinson might be ready by the start of the season, but we won't have a great read on his health until training camp opens in a few weeks.
Sun Aug 9 201519:03Robinson's surgically-repaired right knee still immobilized week...
Robinson's surgically-repaired right knee was still immobilized a week ago, but he's expected to be ready for the start of the Nets' training camp October 1, NetsDaily reports.
Robinson underwent surgery to repair a slight tear in the meniscus of his left knee in the middle of July. The Nets have Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young starting in the frontcourt, and Joe Johnson will likely see time at power forward in small-ball lineups, leaving less time in the big-man rotation for Robinson off the bench. If the Nets fall prey to injuries, Robinson could be a decent contributor in rebounds, but with his value largely tied to his contributions in that singular category, Robinson's prospects in fantasy for the 2015-16 season like tepid at best.
Tue Jul 14 201514:20Thomas Robinson: Tears Meniscus in Right Knee
Robinson tore the meniscus in his right knee and will have surgery on Wednesday, Andrew Keh of The New York Times reports.
Robinson signed a new two-year deal with the Nets, and given that the tear is reportedly a small one, it appears that he won't be held out for too long. Entering the season, it is expected that Robinson will serve as Thaddeus Young's backup at the power forward position.
Thu Jul 2 201518:18Robinson signed two-year deal with Nets on Thursday
Robinson signed a two-year deal with the Nets on Thursday, Basketball Insiders reports.
Robinson's journey through the NBA reaches its fifth destination, with a player option for the second season of the contract throwing a wrench into a potentially length stay in Brooklyn. Between the Blazers and Sixes last season, he logged time in 54 games (four starts), averaging 5.7 points (on 49 percent shooting) and 5.6 rebounds in 15 minutes. As he enters his fourth campaign, he'll serve as a backup to starting power forward Thaddeus Young.
