Tue Jun 2 201516:08Melo eyeing return to NBA
Melo is eyeing a return to the NBA, Basketball Insiders reports.
A first round pick of the Celtics in 2012, Melo appeared in only six games as a rookie before being traded to Memphis the following offseason. He failed to make the roster out of camp, subsequently spending time in the D-League and overseas. A native of Brazil, Melo is now training at the IMG Academy in Florida in hopes of catching the eye of an NBA team this summer. He's yet to field a summer league offer, but the big man figures to draw enough interest to justify a training camp invite. While his odds of making an opening night roster are fairly low, Melo has prototypical size for the center position and thrives as a defensive presence. However, he'll need to showcase a more refined all-around game if he hopes to truly revive his career. "I need to be able to run open on the court, that's one thing I need to do," Melo said. "I've been working on my defense so that's the thing that I think will keep me in the league."

Tue Sep 10 201320:20Mavs bring in Fab Melo, others, to camp
The Mavericks have signed F/C Fab Melo, G/F D.J. Kennedy and former St. Mary's point guard Richard McConnell for training camp.
Only Melo has a real chance of making the team's final roster, but even he looks like a long shot at this point. Melo was dropped by the Grizzlies after being traded by Boston this summer, but will likely catch on somewhere in the NBA this season, even if it's not in Dallas.

Tue Sep 10 201312:15Report: Mavs plan to sign free agent Fab Melo
The Mavericks plan to sign free agent Fab Melo for training camp, according to Yahoo!'s Marc Stein.
It's been an eventful offseason for Melo, who was traded from Boston to Memphis before being waived by the Grizzlies. Even if he does make the Mavericks' regular season roster, he'd be unlikely to crack a center rotation which already features Samuel Dalembert, Brandan Wright and DeJuan Blair.

Fri Aug 30 201317:24Report: Grizzlies waive 7-footer Fab Melo
Grizzlies waived C Fab Melo.
The Grizzlies just picked Melo up in a trade with the Celtics a couple weeks ago. It's unclear why they're giving up on a 23-year-old true 7-footer owed just $1.3 million so soon. Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski says that "despite frustrations with Melo's work habits and maturity, there's a real chance a team will claim him off waivers."

Thu Aug 15 201312:23Grizzlies acquire Fab Melo from Celtics
The Grizzlies acquired Fab Melo from the Celtics in exchange for Donte Greene on Thursday.
The Celtics are doing anything they can do drop their team salary, including dumping a 23-year-old big man with some promise. Melo had 3.1 blocks per game in his 33 games in the D-League, but played in a grand total of 36 minutes in the NBA last season. He doesn't figure to see much playing time with Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph healthy.

Thu Aug 15 201311:17Grizzlies trying to deal for Fab Melo
The Grizzlies are attempting to work out a trade to acquire Fab Melo from the Celtics in exchange for Donte Greene.
Memphis was able to pick up Kosta Koufos to back up Marc Gasol, but they could use a another big man. The Celtics are in an all-out rebuild and Melo has two team options in his contract after this season before he could possibly be a restricted free agent in the summer of 2017. Neither Melo or Greene are on the fantasy radar.

Sun Jul 7 201313:36Celtics C Fab Melo still 'incredibly raw'
Fab Melo had nine points, eight rebounds and one block in 28 minutes vs. Orlando on Sunday, and Celtics writer Chris Forsberg describes him as "still incredibly raw."
Boston tried to devlop Melo's game by sending him to the Maine Red Claws in the D-League last season, where he averaged 9.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He's shown incremental improvement and the Celtics are embarking on a youth movement, but Melo won't be a fantasy asset any time soon.

Fri Feb 22 201309:07Report: Celtics offered Fab Melo for Crawford
A league source told the Washington Post that the Celtics offered Fab Melo in a trade for Jordan Crawford.
However, the Wizards did not want to take back future salary. It's telling that the C's were willing to move Melo for Crawford after publicly committing to the 2012 first-round pick's long-term development, but he remains in Boston anyway. Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld said that Crawford did not fit into Washington's current or future plans.

Thu Feb 21 201314:00Report: Fab Melo not headed to Washington
According to NBA.com's David Aldridge, Fab Melo is not part of the Jordan Crawford trade.
The two sides are still working on exactly what the Celtics will give up to acquire some bench firepower in the form of Crawford. They probably don't want to part with Melo, who is extremely raw yet has tons of potential as a dominant shot-blocker.

Thu Feb 21 201313:30Fab Melo for Jordan Crawford being discussed
The Wizards and Celtics are discussing a trade that would send Jordan Crawford to Boston for Fab Melo.
Crawford is on the outs with the Wizards right now and he threw his jersey into the crowd after Tuesday's DNP-CD. The Celtics could use another guard with the ACL tears of Rajon Rondo and Leandro Barbosa, so a move to Boston would help his value in deeper leagues. Melo would be a heck of a project for the Wizards with just four points in 15 minutes with Boston, but he does have a 14-block game to his credit in the D-League this season.

Melo, who hasn't played more than 10 minutes total this season, was drafted just after Jared Sullinger in 2012. Per Yahoo! Sports, the Celtics are trying to "preserve control of future picks and its current rotation to fortify for this season." It doesn't sound like Danny Ainge is considering a blockbuster at the moment.
