MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on forward Mirza Teletovic, who has been sidelined since December because of blockages in his lungs.General manager Jon Horst said Saturday that the move was made after consulting with team doctors and other physicians. Horst says Teletovic's health was the primary concern.The Bucks announced on Dec. 14 that pulmonary embolisms were discovered in both of Teletovic's lungs.The 6-foot-9 Teletovic averaged 7.1 points in 10 games this season while shooting 46 percent from 3-point range. Teletovic continues to remain away from the team, but he figures to be back on the court later in the week, as he was initially expected to return Wednesday.

He missed the night scrimmage Tuesday, but this sounds like a very minor illness, and he should be back on the court Wednesday. With so much uncertainty regarding Markieff Morris' future with the team, Teletovic's workload will be difficult to predict until the situation with Morris is resolved.

Teletovic signed a one-year, $5.5 million deal with the Suns on Thursday, David Aldridge of TNT reports.

Teletovic had his qualifying offer rescinded by the Nets earlier Thursday, and he almost immediately signed with Phoenix, which adds another perimeter threat. Teletovic makes his living as a catch-and-shoot guy from the outside, and he'll be able to do just that in Jeff Hornacek's offense. While he likely won't start, he figures to hold down a consistent role off the bench. Teletovic dealt with a blood clot issue last season, but he returned briefly during the playoffs and has been fully cleared medically.

Considering Teletovic is coming off of a major health issue and sub-par season, the Nets are unlikely to find themselves in a high-stakes bidding war for the 29-year-old.

This malady is clearly very serious, and it's possible we won't know if Teletovic will be able to continue his basketball playing career for some time.

Teletovic was taken to a local hospital during halftime of Thursday's game against the Clippers due to a shortness of breath.

Teletovic was able to leave under his own power, but he will at least miss the remainder of Thursday's contest due to the issue. The team should provide an update on his status at some point before Saturday's game against the Jazz.
