NEW YORK (AP) — The Brooklyn Nets have hired former NBA player and Argentine guard Pablo Prigioni as an assistant coach.The Nets also announced Tuesday that former Spurs center Tiago Splitter was hired as a pro scout.Prigioni spent most of his professional career in Spain and won a bronze medal with Argentina in the 2008 Olympics before coming to the New York Knicks in 2012 as a 35-year-old rookie. He spent four years in the NBA with the Knicks, Rockets and Clippers.Splitter helped San Antonio win the 2014 NBA championship before spending the final two seasons of his seven-year career with Atlanta and Philadelphia. Pablo Prigioni has agreed to a two-year contract with the Houston Rockets, The Vertical reported Wednesday.The second year of the contract includes a team option.The 39-year-old guard averaged 2.5 points and 2.2 assists this past season in 59 games for the Los Angeles Clippers.He played 24 games for the Rockets in 2014-15 after being acquired from the New York Knicks midway through the season. Prigioni played 43 games for the Knicks that season and averaged 4.1 points overall.Prigioni is expected to serve as a backup to Patrick Beverley in Houston.

PG Pablo Prigioni got the start for the watered-down Clippers but struggled in the regular-season finale. He had nine assists but missed 11 of 15 shots and committed six of Los Angeles' 15 turnovers.

PG Pablo Prigioni, who took a shot to the jaw in Friday's game at the Orlando Magic, returned to action off the bench Sunday and had two points in 14 minutes.

Prigioni agreed to sign with the Clippers on Wednesday, Shams Carania of RealGM reports.

This agreement comes just moments after Prigioni cleared waivers after being released by the Nuggets. Prigioni gives Los Angeles an experienced point guard off the bench to back up Chris Paul. The Clippers still currently have Austin Rivers to serve as Paul's backup, but given Prigioni's decision-making ability and fairly consistent outside stroke, he should be able to see the court on a nightly basis. However, his minutes will likely be limited and his resulting fantasy production won't have much significance.

Prigioni was officially waived by the Nuggets on Monday, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

This move was largely expected, as the Nuggets wanted to remove his $1.7 million contract off their books. Prigioni is now an unrestricted free agent and free to sign with another team. The fourth-year pro will likely look to join a team who needs depth in the backcourt, as he hasn't shown nearly enough to be a starter in this league. Splitting the 2014-15 season between the Knicks and Rockets, he combined to finish with averages of 4.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals, while shooting 40 percent from the field and 34 percent from the three-point line.

Prigioni will be traded or waived by the Nuggets on Monday, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Priginoi was acquired in the Ty Lawson trade on Sunday, but the Nuggets apparently won't be keeping him. Only $440,000 of Prigioni's $1.7 million salary is guaranteed.

Prigioni averaged 18 minutes on the court last season between the Knicks and the Rockets, and he's likely destined for a similar role in Denver as he plays behind rookie Emmanuel Mudiay while directly competing for playing time off the bench with veteran Jameer Nelson. The Italian was only going to be an option in deeper leagues next year with his limited role in Houston and it appears his value will hold still with this move to Denver.

Prigioni was traded from New York to Houston in February. He averaged 3.0 points, 0.6 three-pointers, 1.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in 17 minutes per game through 24 games with the Rockets in 2014-15.

After finishing his third NBA season, the 38-year-old Prigioni remains under team control through 2015-16. Prigioni's efficiency this season (34% FG, 28% 3Pt, 87% FT) dropped quite significantly from his career averages of (44% FG, 40% 3Pt, 87% FT). With Jason Terry becoming an unrestricted free agent, starting point guard Patrick Beverley perpetually injured, and the uncertain signing of a guard in free agency this offseason, Prigioni should provide as insurance for a Rockets team that is expected to look at adding a guard in free agency.

Prigioni came off the bench for 20 minutes in Game 3 against the Clippers and was able to record six points, two rebounds, and two assists Friday.

Prigioni continues to benefit from the absence of Patrick Beverley (wrist) but the 37-year-old is not a serious threat to score when he's on the court. Starting point guard Jason Terry retains more value than Prigioni at the moment, but both players are still limited behind Houston's intent to let James Harden run the offense.

Prigioni averaged 21.2 minutes on the court during the first round victory over the Mavericks.

Prigioni is clearly benefiting from the season-ending injury to Patrick Beverley (wrist). The veteran is still playing behind Jason Terry but has carved out a significant chunk of rotation minutes and will likely retain that role throughout the remainder of the playoffs.

Prigioni had 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 29 minutes off the bench Sunday against Washington.

Prigioni has seen a bump in minutes since Patrick Beverley went down with a wrist injury, logging at least 20 minutes in each of his last three games. He rarely reaches double figures in scoring, but can provide some rebounding and assists. There's no indication that he'll unseat Jason Terry as the starting point guard, but Prigioni did get more playing time than Terry did on Sunday.

Prigioni participated in Saturday's practice and was fine according to Kevin McHale, Jenny Dial Creech of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Prigioni exited Friday's game with a laceration above his eye and did not return. The fact he was able to practice Saturday indicates that the injury will not cause Prigioni to miss any time. The Rockets return to action Sunday against the Cavaliers.

Prigioni totalled one assist in his first four minutes as a member of the Rockets on Saturday, after previously being thought that he wouldn't play, due to the fact that he hadn't practiced with the team.

The Rockets had the game well in hand against the Raptors, so Kevin McHale could ease Prigioni and K.J. McDaniels in with a few minutes. Prigioni will be buried on the depth chart and will have value in only deeper leagues, although the Rockets are lacking a true backup point guard, having traded Isaiah Canaan to Philadelphia.

Prigioni is active for Saturday's game against the Raptors but coach Kevin McHale is not expected to use his efforts since he has yet to practice with the team.

The veteran is only expected to see time on the court Saturday if the Rockets find themselves ina desperate situation. As a result, the likely debut for Prigioni will be against the Timberwolves on Monday.

Prigioni was traded to the Rockets on Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Prigioni could have a modest backup role on the Rockets, but he's unlikely to play enough minutes to be of use in anything but the deepest of leagues.

Prigioni (hip) will be available for Monday's game, Newsday's Al Iannazzone reports.

While he is available, there is no guarantee he will see significant minutes Monday, so it would be wise to shy away from using him in daily leagues.

Prigioni is dealing with a hip injury and is unsure whether or not he'll be able to play against the Warriors on Saturday, Newsday reports.

Prigioni admitted that a return to the court seems more likely for sometime next week, although he should still be considered a game-time decision for Saturday.

Prigioni's line was barren in four minutes of action during Saturday's loss to the Hornets.

Prigioni hit the pine in order to allow for Cleanthony Early's first career start, but the veteran guard's services weren't required in the blowout. Because the Knicks are in talent-evaluation mode at this point, the 37-year-old Prigioni could be contained to irregular bench duty for much of the remainder of the season.
