Sat May 8 202101:55Miley pitches MLB's 4th no-hitter of season, 2nd in 3 days
CLEVELAND (AP) — Wade Miley pitched baseball’s second no-hitter in three days — and fourth already this season — leading the Cincinnati Reds to a 3-0 win Friday night over the Cleveland Indians, who were no-hit for the second time in a month. Miley (4-2) relied on breaking pitches and his experience of 11-plus major league seasons to baffle the Indians and throw Cincinnati’s first no-hitter since Homer Bailey in 2013. The left-hander shook off an 83-minute rain delay to start the game and followed Baltimore’s John Means, who no-hit Seattle on Wednesday,. Joe Musgrove threw San Diego's first no-hotter on April 9. Five days later, Chicago White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodón blanked the Indians. Arizona’s Madison Bumgarner pitched a seven-inning no-hitter against Atlanta on April 25, but that one isn’t recognized as official because it didn’t go nine innings. This is the earliest in a calendar year there have been four no-hitters since 1917, when the fourth was thrown on May 5 and the fifth... [More]

Tue Sep 22 202017:33Twins reinstate Bailey from injured list to start vs. Tigers
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins reinstated right-hander Homer Bailey from the 45-day injured list on Tuesday so he could start their series opener against Detroit. Bailey made just one start with his new team before getting hurt, picking up the victory by logging five innings in Minnesota's home opener on July 28 against St. Louis. The 34-year-old missed the next 51 games with right biceps tendinitis. He signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Twins, and his salary was prorated once the coronavirus pandemic prompted an abbreviated 60-game schedule. The Twins have used the injured list 16 times this season, covering 13 different players, but Bailey's activation leaves only right-hander Jake Odorizzi, second baseman Luis Arraez and outfielder Brent Rooker still sidelined. Rooker is done for the season because of a broken forearm, but Odorizzi (finger blister) and Arraez (knee tendinitis) are expected to be available next week once the postseason starts. Arraez suffered a minor ankle sprain on Monday at the team's alternate training site. ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

He's batting .221 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 21 games this season.Garver has a mild intercostal muscle strain on his right side, an injury suffered while swinging Wednesday against the Brewers. He's hitting .154 with one homer and two RBIs in 17 games.Donaldson missed his 18th straight game Thursday with a strained right calf. Starting pitcher Homer Bailey has also been on the injured list for the last three weeks with right biceps tendinitis.Outfielder... [More]
