Thu Mar 31 202217:19Trey Burke Will Remain Out On Friday
Dallas Mavericks guard Trey Burke will remain out on Friday when the team takes on the Washington Wizards. Burke entered the league's health and safety protocols earlier this week after he failed to take his daily COVID-19 test. Friday's contest will be his third consecutive missed game. Burke's playing time has been spotty lately, so his absence hasn't meant a ton to the team. His next chance to return will be on Sunday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Tue Mar 29 202215:08Trey Burke Unavailable On Tuesday
Dallas Mavericks guard Trey Burke has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. He'll join teammate Sterling Brown in the league's health and safety protocols. Neither player has a huge impact on the rotation, but hopefully this won't spread to the rest of the team. Burke has been battling an illness lately and played four minutes during Sunday's game against the Utah Jazz. Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie should see slightly more minutes with Burke and Brown out on Tuesday.

Sat Mar 5 202216:11Trey Burke Will Return Against Sacramento
Dallas Mavericks guard Trey Burke (shoulder) will play against the visiting Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The veteran missed his previous six games because of a left shoulder sprain. However, his return couldn't come at a better time, primarily since the Mavs will be without Luka Doncic (toe), who is sidelined because of a left toe sprain, and Maxi Kleber (ankle). While Jalen Brunson and Spencer Dinwiddie will likely handle most of the work out of the backcourt, there is plenty of room for Burke to be involved, making him a viable option in seasonal and DFS formats.

Sun Feb 27 202218:18Trey Burke, Frank Ntilikina Out On Sunday
Dallas Mavericks guards Trey Burke (shoulder) and Frank Ntilikina (ankle) have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Burke is dealing with a left shoulder sprain while Ntilikina has a right ankle sprain. Both players have been phased out of the rotation lately as Spencer Dinwiddie has been the team's primary guard off the bench, backing up Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson. Josh Green has been the only other guard who has seen regular playing time lately.

Wed Dec 22 202114:46Luka Doncic, Trey Burke Land In COVID-19 Protocols
Dallas Mavericks guards Luka Doncic and Trey Burke have entered the league's health and safety protocols. Doncic was already sidelined due to an ankle issue, but now could miss possibly 10 days. The absence of Burke is going to leave the Mavericks with little depth at the guard position. They've signed Brandon Knight and Carlik Jones, but neither need to be rostered in fantasy formats. Jalen Brunson is looking at all the minutes he can handle and is a must-have fantasy option right now.

Tue Dec 14 202109:26Trey Burke Pops Up With Season-High 22 Points
Dallas Mavericks guard Trey Burke had a great night in Monday's 120-96 win over Charlotte, scoring a season-high 22 points on 9-for-14 shooting. He was 4-for-7 with his three-pointers and helped out with three rebounds, six assists and one steal as well. Burke has always had the ability to heat up in a hurry, but he hasn't earned a lot of playing this season, and we shouldn't get too excited by Burke's effort against the Grizzlies either, as the game turned into a blowout very quickly. He averages just 7.4 points for the season, which shows that Monday was a one-off thing.

Tue Dec 1 202019:35Mavs talk tough by adding protectors for young star Doncic
Luka Doncic's first experience with the playoffs ended with questions about whether Marcus Morris of the Los Angeles Clippers was intentionally trying to hurt the young Dallas sensation in a first-round series won by LA. The Mavericks might have hinted at what they thought through trades and draft picks during this abbreviated offseason. Dallas acquired James Johnson and his black belt in karate from Oklahoma City in a three-team trade after using the club's first-round draft choice at No. 18 overall on Josh Green, who was a strong defender in his only season at Arizona. The Mavericks also sent their best 3-pointer shooter in Seth Curry to Philadelphia for Josh Richardson, described by coach Rick Carlisle as an “edgy guy who is a terrific defender.” “I don’t really take well to my brothers being messed with, but I’m not an instigator in situations so I’m not going to be out there just trying to get in people’s faces and do a lot of extra stuff,” Richardson said on the opening day of training... Sat Nov 21 202003:11AP source: Ariza on move again as OKC, Dallas, Detroit deal
Trevor Ariza is on the move for the third time this week, going to Oklahoma City from Detroit along with Dallas' Justin Jackson in a three-team trade. Also in the deal, the Mavericks sent Delon Wright to the Pistons for James Johnson, a person with knowledge of the details said early Saturday. Ariza was sent from Portland to Houston two days before the draft, then shipped to the Pistons on draft night Wednesday. The 35-year-old has already played for 10 teams. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been announced. It was first reported by the New York Times. The Mavericks added Johnson to provide some toughness around young stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Dallas was defensive-minded on draft night, taking Arizona's Josh Green in the first round and trading for Philadelphia's Josh Richardson. Point guard Trey Burke and the Mavericks agreed on a $10 million, three-year contract for the free agent to return after a strong showing... [More]
Sat Aug 22 202017:45Doncic seeks quick recovery; 76ers, Nets facing quick exits
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks will work around the clock on Luka Doncic, hoping he can be healthy enough to play Sunday. The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets can tell them all about how hard the playoffs are without star guards.Doncic hopes to make a quick recovery, and the 76ers and Nets look to avoid quick exits heading into Game 4 of their series.Doncic sprained his left ankle in the third quarter of Dallas' 130-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. He came back in the fourth but wasn't moving well and eventually left for good. The Mavericks were hoping to get him an MRI exam Saturday and planning to keep him off the court all day. Coach Rick Carlisle said Doncic would likely be a game-time decision.“Obviously, we know the nature of the game. Sometimes injuries happen,” Dallas guard Trey Burke said. “If he can’t go, guys have got to be ready to play, step up and we’ve got to have the same mentality going out there and that’s to win.”The Mavs beat... Mon Feb 4 201920:04Porzingis won't play for Mavs now; Cuban has long-term view
DALLAS (AP) — Kristaps Porzingis won't play for the Mavericks this season while continuing his recovery from a knee injury after Dallas acquired the 2018 All-Star in a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks. As for the next 20 years, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said Monday he envisions Porzingis forming a Euro star pairing with 19-year-old rookie Luka Doncic even though the 7-foot-3 Latvian can become a restricted free agent after this season. It was Cuban's way of saying he expects the 23-year-old Porzingis to sign a long-term contract, sooner than later. And for anyone questioning the math, Cuban likes to talk about medical advances extending careers of players into their mid-40s.Cuban interrupted a question for Porzingis on whether the player once considered the cornerstone of the New York franchise planned to sign long term with Dallas."I can answer that for him," Cuban said. "Yes, he does."Asked if that was true, Porzingis said, "Yes.""Our goal is to keep them together for the next... [More]
Thu Jan 31 201922:21Knicks deal Porzingis to Dallas, say he requested a trade
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks were having their doubts, wondering if Kristaps Porzingis truly wanted to be part of the franchise. On Thursday, they say he made it clear he didn't.Once that happened, they decided to trade the All-Star forward who was thought to be one of the key players for their future."When he came in today, it was clear to us that it was time to pull the trigger on something," Knicks President Steve Mills said. That was a seven-player swap with the Dallas Mavericks that also netted New York two future first-round draft picks and possibly enough room to afford two top free agents this summer.Porzingis has been sidelined for nearly a year after tearing his left ACL. The Knicks said recently he would undergo testing during the middle of February that could have determined if he would be able to return this season. If it does, it will be in Dallas, where he can form an intriguing international frontcourt with rookie Luka Doncic. Thu Jan 31 201918:31Knicks agree to trade Porzingis to Dallas
NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Knicks have traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks, parting with the young All-Star forward as he recovers from a torn knee ligament. The Knicks acquired Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and two future first-round picks in the deal Thursday, while also sending guards Tim Hardaway Jr., Trey Burke and Courtney Lee to Dallas. The Knicks made the surprising move after saying Porzingis requested a trade earlier Thursday. The 7-foot-3 Porzingis was the No. 4 pick in the 2015 draft and once was expected to be the Knicks' franchise player for years. But they declined to give him a contract extension last summer, and now by trading him and Hardaway seem instead to be gearing up to pursue players in free agency.Hardaway has two more years and about $37 million left on his contract, and moving that was necessary if the Knicks were going to find a way to open the most cap space possible.New York (10-40) has the worst record in the NBA and is headed... Mon Oct 15 201814:08Knicks intent on rebuilding and not afraid to say it
NEW YORK (AP) — Steve Mills just wanted his clothes. He ended up getting an earful. The man delivering Mills' dry cleaning one day this summer wasn't happy with the Knicks' draft, and he let the team president know it. That's what happens in New York, home of a frustrated fan base.Still, Mills believes fans are on board with the Knicks' plan for patience, one that seems to guarantee that a 45-year drought without a title will last at least a few years more."I grew up here and I just have a different point of view. I talk to a lot of fans, I talk to people on the streets all the time. I think people here will let you rebuild," Mills said."They will let you rebuild as long as you are true to what you say, and you lay out for them what you're going to do. I just, in my gut, believe New Yorkers are OK with that."Perhaps that's because they've seen the Knicks try every other way, from blockbuster trades to splashy signings, and it hasn't worked. So building through the draft and developing players... [More]
Sat Mar 31 201820:26Drummond has another big night, Pistons beat Knicks 115-109
NEW YORK (AP) — Blake Griffin sat with his injured ankle wrapped on one side of the locker room while Reggie Jackson dressed on the other. The Detroit Pistons didn't get to see much of them together on the court, part of the reason their playoff hopes are just about finished. So they're trying to take the positives from a strong finish in a season where so much else went wrong.Andre Drummond narrowly missed a second straight 20-20 game with 22 points and 17 rebounds, and the Pistons beat the New York Knicks 115-109 on Saturday for their fourth straight victory."It's been a long season. It's been a tough one for us. We're not where we necessarily envisioned ourselves, but like I said I'm just proud of the resiliency this team's had," Jackson said. "Despite what our record may say, coming in every day and trying to get better and continue to battle."Jackson and Anthony Tolliver each scored 17 points for the Pistons, who won for the sixth time in seven games despite playing without Griffin because... "Sometimes you go through tests and it's not about the test, it's how you handle it," Burke said of his limited playing time. "For me, obviously, I wanted to be out there these last 10-15 games. Like coach said, you've got to always stay ready in this league. You never know when your number is called."
