Muhammad scored 12 points and was 2-of-4 from three-point range in 15 minutes in his preseason debut in Saturday's loss to Chicago.
Muhammad had his season end in February due to a ruptured ligament in the middle finger on his left hand, which required surgery. He looked healthy in his preseason debut. Muhammad was a nice surprise last season as he improved by posting 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game before the injury. However, it's not clear how large a role he'll have off the bench this season or how many shots he'll get with Karl-Anthony Towns' addition to the roster and with Zach LaVine having the early lead on the starting shooting guard role.

Muhammad (finger) has shed nearly 30 pounds since the beginning of July, Timberwolves' broadcast announcer Dave Benz reports.
The weight loss will be crucial for improved stamina, staving off fatigue, and curbing injuries, but with the Timberwolves' depth, it's difficult to peg Muhammad as a key rotational piece. Also, losing that much weight could impede his ability to post-up effectively. Muhammad finished in the 83rd percentile and averaged 0.97 points per possession on post-ups, per NBA.com.

Muhammad (finger) plans to "lose a lot more weight" and improve his conditioning this offseason, the Pioneer Press reports.
Muhammed is around the team's summer league minicamp but hasn't been participating even though he feels good enough to play. His season was cut short following surgery to repair a ruptured ligament in his middle finger on his left hand last February. While slimming down will improve his stamina, it may hinder his ability to post up on offensive with regularity.

Muhammad battled through injuries to play in only 38 games during the 2014-15 season. The UCLA product averaged 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 48.9 percent from the floor in 22.8 minutes per game.
After a rookie season mostly spent observing from the bench, Muhammad stepped into a larger role in 2014-15, and he was one of the more pleasant surprises in the league through the first few months. After a solid month of November - 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, 51% FG - he broke out in December, putting together monthly averages of 18.1 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting a hair under 50 percent from the floor. The success was short-lived, however, as he went down with an abdominal injury on Jan. 9 that would cost him 16 games. Muhammad returned on Feb. 9 against Atlanta but played only three games before suffering a ruptured ligament in his left middle finger that would shelve him for the rest of the season. Depending upon what happens in the draft and free agency, the Timberwolves' roster could look different next season, but Muhammad likely showed enough in 2014-15 to solidify his place as part of the team's future at the wing position. With Thaddeus Young no longer in the picture, Muhammad will be in competition for a starting spot entering next season.

Thu Feb 19 201517:39Muhammad (finger) questionable for Friday's game against Suns
Muhammad (finger) is questionable for Friday's game against the Suns, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Muhammad (oblique) scored 18 points (7-14 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 3-6 FT) with eight rebounds in 24 minutes off the bench Monday.
He saw more court time than expected in his first game action since January 9, but given how well Muhammad was shooting you can't blame Minnesota coach Flip Saunders for stretching him out as much as possible. With Kevin Martin also healthy again there's probably no room for Muhammad in the T-wolves' starting five, but he should still see enough minutes off the bench to have value in deeper leagues.

Muhammad (oblique) is expected to see limited minutes Monday against Atlanta.
Muhammad will make his return from an extended absence, having not played in exactly a month while nursing an oblique injury. He'll be eased into action, with coach Flip Saunders saying he anticipates playing Muhammad between 15-20 minutes. Muhammad had a strong showing in December prior to the injury, but he's likely to step back into a lesser offensive role with Kevin Martin, Nikola Pekovic and Ricky Rubio all back in action.
Mon Feb 9 201513:15Shabazz Muhammad: (Oblique) Upgraded To Probable
Muhammad (oblique) has been upgraded to probable for Monday's game.
All signs point to Muhammad being back in action, as coach Flip Saunders said as much over the weekend, and Muhammad said Monday afternoon that he expects to play. That said, it is worth double-checking just before the game starts to make sure he is still good to go. He may not get as many shots as he was seeing earlier in the season, but he is still worth a roster spot in most formats just based on his potential.
Mon Feb 9 201510:40Shabazz Muhammad: (Oblique) Questionable Monday
Muhammad (oblique) is listed as questionable for Monday's game.
Coach Flip Saunders said over the weekend that Muhammad would return for Monday's game, but his questionable status means that owners will need to monitor him leading up to game time. The T-Wolves are relatively healthy now, so he may not play as big of a role as he was playing earlier in the season.
Sat Feb 7 201514:23Shabazz Muhammad: (Oblique) Will Return Monday
Muhammad (oblique) will not play in Sunday's game but will return Monday against the Hawks, according to coach Flip Saunders.
This news came out roughly 10 minutes after Shabazz Muhammad said there was a 75 percent chance he would play in Sunday's game, but in this scenario, we'll trust what the coach says. This still works fine for owners in weekly leagues, as Muhammad can be deployed in deeper formats with the expectation that he is ready to reclaim a significant role on the T-Wolves. Sunday may mark Anthony Bennett's last game as a key part of the rotation for the foreseeable future.
Sat Feb 7 201514:16Shabazz Muhammad: (Oblique) 75 Percent Sure He'll Play Sunday
Muhammad (oblique) said there is a 75 percent chance he will play Sunday in Detroit, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
If Muhammad is unable to return Sunday, look for him to be back in action for Monday's game in Atlanta. Muhammad is the rare young player who can be a volume scorer while shooting a high percentage, as he is shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from downtown in his second season. When he returns, Muhammad will likely take the minutes that are currently going to Anthony Bennett, while slightly cutting into the playing time of Thaddeus Young, Kevin Martin and Andrew Wiggins.
