Iverson, a Celtics draftee, signed a contract to play in Spain with Baskonia on Tuesday, Sportando reports. |
Iverson has attempted to make the Celtics' roster for the past two seasons, but he's been unable to after playing in back-to-back summer leagues. He'll continue to work on his game in Spain as he'll likely try to make the jump to the NBA next offseason. |
Tue Jun 3 2014 | 15:02 | Celtics' prospect Colton Iverson eyes roster |
Celtics president Danny Ainge said he's "anxious" to see prospect Colton Iverson play during Summer League, but admitted that it's "not a certainty" he'll make the roster next season. |
"I could easily go to Vegas and try to impress other teams, but [the Celtics] have already invested a lot in me, so I figure it's in my best interest to go right out to Boston," said Iverson, who played in Turkey last season. The Celtics' roster is in turmoil and they already have guys like Jared Sullinger, Kelly Olynyk and Vitor Faverani on the roster, so Iverson faces a steep climb to earn a guaranteed roster spot. |

Wed May 28 2014 | 11:32 | Colton Iverson eyes spot on Boston's roster |
Celtics prospect Colton Iverson will begin working out in Boston as soon as this week, as he fights to earn a roster spot for 2014-15. |
Iverson played for the Turkish team Besiktas last season, averaging 17.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks, though he also committed 4.1 turnovers and 5.7 personal fouls in just 21 minutes per game. Those numbers speak eloquently about both his upside and lack of refinement, and his ability to make Boston's roster may depend upon their moves in the draft and free agency this summer. |

Fri Aug 2 2013 | 20:28 | Colton Iverson headed overseas for one year |
Colton Iverson signed a one-year deal to play in Turkey next season. |
He'll join Besiktas of the Turkish League and the Colorado State product will have to work on his skills as a player. He has the size at 7'0", 263 pounds and playing overseas could help him get some confidence. Kelly Olynyk gets a minimal boost with less competition. |
