Mon Mar 418:19Kelly Olynyk Agrees Two-Year Extension With Raptors
Toronto Raptors forward/center Kelly Olynyk has agreed on a two-year extension with the team, signing up for a $26.25 million pact, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 32-year-old is coming off a three-year contract that paid him just north of $37 million. Toronto snapped up Olynyk in a trade with Utah last month. He has played eight games with the team, averaging 9.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals across 20.7 minutes. The versatile Canadian big man is sharing center minutes with Jakob Poeltl in Toronto, but Olynyk will likely make his first start for his new squad on Tuesday versus New Orleans after Poeltl dislocated a finger on Sunday against Charlotte.

Mon Mar 416:06Kelly Olynyk Flops In First Game Without Scottie Barnes
Toronto Raptors forward Kelly Olynyk didn't hit a field goal in Sunday's 111-106 victory over the Charlotte Hornets but tallied four points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks in 26 minutes. The final output is not the most disappointing part, since Olynyk was a very popular fantasy add in the aftermath of Scottie Barnes' (hand) setback but saw Ochai Agbaji unexpectedly hop into Toronto's starting five. Considering Charlotte was missing their two top big men, Mark Williams (back) and Nick Richards (foot), head coach Darko Rajakovic may have opted to employ a smaller first unit for matchup-related reasons. Hang onto Olynyk despite the lackluster stat line, as Jakob Poeltl (finger) is joining Barnes on the sidelines for Tuesday's tilt versus the New Orleans Pelicans. In eight starting appearances this year, Olynyk is averaging 9.5 points, 6.9 assists, 6.5 rebounds, and 0.8 treys in 26.3 minutes.

Thu Feb 2216:04Kelly Olynyk Absent From Injury Report
Toronto Raptors center Kelly Olynyk (back) is absent from the injury report for Thursday's game versus the Brooklyn Nets. A lower back strain forced Olynyk from Toronto's latest matchup, but the Canadian playmaking big man is available for the Raptors against the Nets. Over his most recent nine showings since Jan. 25, Olynyk is supplying 10.1 points on 57.7% shooting from the floor, 5.2 boards, 4.2 assists, and 0.9 triples in 19.5 minutes per game.

Thu Feb 1508:18Kelly Olynyk Exits With Back Strain
Toronto Raptors forward/center Kelly Olynyk failed to complete Wednesday's game against Indiana due to a lower back strain. He logged only seven minutes, posting zero points with two rebounds and three fouls. This was Olynyk's third game in a Raptors uniform since the team traded for him last week. He started well in Toronto and averaged 14.0 points with 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals over his first two games. With the Raptors now off until Feb. 22, Olynyk gets a good amount of recovery time, but it's currently unclear if it will be enough to be ready for action next week. Chris Boucher re-entered the rotation in Olynyk's absence on Wednesday and could have a role to play if he's out next game.

Fri Feb 911:12Kelly Olynyk Uncertain To Make Raptors Debut On Friday
Toronto Raptors center Kelly Olynykhas been tagged as questionable to play in his first game with his new team after coming to Toronto in a trade from Utah. The veteran big man is a Toronto native who gets to team up with fellow Canadian RJ Barrett. They have some chemistry together already after playing for the Canadian national team. Olynyk will likely see an increase in minutes and role, as he'll be the primary backup to Jakob Poeltl, so he could become a more viable fantasy option in a broader range of leagues. For now, fantasy managers will want to wait and see how he falls into the rotation when he finally gets on the court for his new team.

Thu Feb 814:34Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji Dealt To Raptors
Utah Jazz center Kelly Olynyk and guard Ochai Agbaji have been traded to the Toronto Raptors for Kira Lewis Jr., Otto Porter Jr., and a first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. The draft pick will be the least favorable between the Thunder, Clippers, Rockets, and Jazz. Olynyk should slot right into the backup center role behind Jakob Poeltl while Agbaji will likely be one of the first two players off of the bench in the backcourt along with newly-acquired Spencer Dinwiddie. Olynyk could become viable in deeper leagues after he averaged around 20 minutes a night in Utah, he could very likely see some added minutes in a less crowded frontcourt. Agbaji, on the other hand, will have to see where he falls in the rotation before becoming a must-add candidate in fantasy leagues.

Fri Dec 8 202315:55Kelly Olynyk Expected To Return On Friday
Utah Jazz center/forward Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) has missed the last two games with a right shoulder strain but he is now listed as probable on Friday night. Getting Olynyk back in the lineup is great timing for the Jazz as Lauri Markkanen (hamstring) will be forced to miss yet another game. Olynyk probably won't enter the starting lineup but he'll likely see around 15 minutes which will come from both Omer Yurtseven and Walker Kessler. This won't make Olynyk fantasy-relevant in shallow leagues though.

Sat Dec 2 202314:08Kelly Olynyk Won't Play On Saturday
Utah Jazz forward/center Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) won't play in Saturday's matchup with Portland. Olynyk has battled a shoulder strain of late and carried a questionable tag leading up to Thursday's loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he managed to suit up for that one and finished the night with eight points in 14 minutes. Nevertheless, the issue still seems to be bothering the veteran, so the team may play it safe by keeping him out until he's 100%. But considering Olynyk is averaging 7.6 points in 21 minutes a game this season, his absence won't impact many fantasy managers.

Thu Nov 30 202318:51Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk Remain Questionable
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson (thigh) and center Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) are both questionable for Thursday's game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves. Clarkson is managing a right thigh contusion and Olynyk is dealing with a right shoulder strain, with each being minor issues at this stage. Both were uncertain to play ahead of Wednesday's eventual 105-91 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies before getting the green light to go. With Lauri Markkanen (hamstring) out, the Jazz hope one or both players suit up on the second night of a back-to-back. Collin Sexton, Keyonte George, and Talen Horton-Tucker would all be on streaming radars, depending on Clarkson and Olynyk's statuses.

Wed Nov 29 202318:24Jordan Clarkson, Kelly Olynyk Upgraded To Probable
Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson (thigh) and center Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) have both been upgraded to probable for Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Both players were listed as questionable with their respective injuries on Utah's initial injury report, but they're on course to suit up if all goes well during pregame warmups on Wednesday. Clarkson, who is nursing a right thigh contusion, is pouring in 18.1 points, 4.9 assists, and 1.8 triples per game, and the lack of peripheral statistics render him points-league friendly in fantasy. Olynyk, managing a right shoulder strain, is offering 7.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.9 dimes per night in a diminished role as part of a crowded frontcourt in Salt Lake City, but he's worth streaming in Lauri Markkanen's (hamstring) absence during Utah's two-game road trip.

Wed Nov 29 202310:22Kelly Olynyk Questionable Wednesday
Utah Jazz forward/center Kelly Olynyk (shoulder) is carrying a questionable tag ahead of Wednesday's clash with the Grizzlies. The veteran has strained his right shoulder and could be unavailable for the first time this season. Olynyk's fantasy stock has taken a major hit this season, as he's been demoted to a bench role, but he could currently play a bigger part in the proceedings, with Lauri Markkanen (hamstring) landing on the shelf. Meanwhile, Omer Yurtseven looks set to benefit from Olynyk's absence in Wednesday's favorable matchup if the 32-year-old can't shake off his shoulder problem.

Thu Oct 19 202315:58Kelly Olynyk Finishes Preseason Quietly
Utah Jazz forward/center Kelly Olynyk (rest) is getting the night off for Thursday's preseason finale versus the Sacramento Kings. Olynyk joins a cast of key contributors on the sidelines Thursday, after the versatile 32-year-old's passive preseason saw him put up 3.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 17.4 minutes per game across four contests. After starting all 68 of his games for Utah a year ago, Olynyk is expected to cede that duty at the four to the incoming John Collins while serving as Walker Kessler's primary backup at the five. It leaves Olynyk and his expiring contract with diminished fantasy appeal, and it's fair to wonder if the Jazz explore trade opportunities at February's deadline to help clear up their crowded frontcourt. Kessler could be relied on more for Thursday's affair, while Omer Yurtseven is likely to be the first big man off head coach Will Hardy's bench for this one.

Sat Apr 15 202306:58Kelly Olynyk Will Likely Have His Option Picked Up
Utah Jazz forward/center Kelly Olynyk is set to remain with the team for the 2023-24 campaign, with general manager Justin Zanik saying that he anticipates the Jazz picking up Olynyk's team option. The 31-year-old has just completed his first year in Salt Lake City, averaging solid all-around numbers with 12.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists. Olynyk has bounced around in the league in recent seasons, so getting a chance to stay with a team for an extended period must be pleasing for him. He made a career-high 68 starts this season and it looks like Utah has no plans to change his role.

Mon Apr 10 202309:49Kelly Olynyk Caps Off Season With Hot Shooting
Utah Jazz forward/center Kelly Olynyk missed only four of 13 shots en route to 23 points in Sunday's 128-117 loss to the Lakers. He was 3-for-4 with the three-ball and made both of his attempts at the charity stripe. In the final game of his 10th NBA season, Olynyk also registered five rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Following a disappointing campaign in Detroit, Olynyk was again a regular starter with the Jazz this season, averaging 12.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 28.6 minutes. He's got a great skill set for a big man and should remain a good all-around fantasy asset in 2022-23.

Sat Apr 8 202313:07Kelly Olynyk Resting Versus The Nuggets
Utah Jazz forward Kelly Olynyk (rest) will sit against the Nuggets. No surprise here, considering Utah has one game left after this contest. With Lauri Markkanen (hand) and Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) also out, Luka Samanic and Simone Fontecchio will draw plenty of interest from DFS participants.

Fri Mar 31 202315:26Kelly Olynyk Is Available Against Boston On Friday
Utah Jazz center Kelly Olynyk is now available to play on Friday against the Boston Celtics after just a one-game absence due to a non-COVID illness. As he takes over his starting spot again, the odd man out would seem to be Juan Toscano-Anderson. Especially with Lauri Markkanen (hand) still sidelined, Olynyk should be a solid play at center for any fantasy manager looking for some rebounds and efficient scoring.

Sat Feb 25 202300:30Kelly Olynyk May Miss Matchup With Spurs
Utah Jazz forward Kelly Olynyk (ankle) is questionable ahead of Saturday's contest against the San Antonio Spurs. The veteran had 12 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and a block in Thursday's overtime win over OKC. However, he is back on the injury report because of a right ankle sprain that's been nagging him for quite some time. Nevertheless, if Olynyk isn't available for this one, rookie Ochai Agbaji, who scored 12 points in 22 minutes versus the Thunder, could continue to receive more work, assuming Rudy Gay (nasal fracture) can't suit up.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Fri Feb 10 202309:25Navigating The Clippers Trade Deadline Moves - Fantasy Basketball Impact
The Los Angeles Clippers are in the heat of the congested Western Conference playoff race and were one of the more active franchises during Thursday's trade deadline. The Clippers had some glaring needs, specifically at the point guard position, and needed to surround their star forwards, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, with more talent to compete in the loaded Western Conference. The Clippers were able to execute three separate trades on Thursday. First off, the Clippers were able to secure Bones Hyland from the Denver Nuggets for a couple of second-round picks. Then, they set their eyes on veteran guard Eric Gordon in a three-team trade, sending off John Wall to the Houston Rockets and Luke Kennard to the Memphis Grizzlies. Lastly, the Clippers moved ... Thu Feb 9 202323:29Kevin Durant Traded to Suns - Fantasy Basketball Impact
As hectic as this year's NBA trade deadline has been, with 28 out of the 30 teams making at least one trade, early Thursday morning at 1:00 am, a blockbuster trade went down that not many expected. However, if you had read my previous article, you could have gotten a glimpse of the future thanks to my magic ball, as the first "potential trade" I wrote about was sending Kevin Durant to none other than the Pheonix Suns.Kevin Durant is undeniably a top-three player and arguably even the best in the NBA right now. It's not surprising to hear how stunned the NBA world was after seeing this trade, as the Suns sold a huge chunk of their future for the Nets superstar but were somehow saved from involving Deandre Ayton in the trade!Any average NBA fan knows how much of an impact future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant has on any team, but to emphasize just how much, check this out: The Suns went from odds of +1800 of winning the finals to +450 on Thursday morning after the huge trade, now only behind the Boston Celtics, who lead the race with their odds being +350.

Kevin Durant's Season Recap

Durant (knee) has been sidelined for over a month after getting hurt on January 8 against the Miami Heat and remains without a timetable to return to make his debut with the Suns. Before getting hurt, the 13-time All-Star was averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 0.8 steals, 1.8 blocks, and 36 minutes in 39 appearances this season.
