Mon Aug 24 201516:38Withey signed two-year
Withey signed a two-year, partially guaranteed deal with the Jazz on Monday, Yahoo! Sports reports.
The Jazz are currently rostering only 13 players on guaranteed deals, meaning Withey would appear to have a good chance to lock down a spot during training camp and the preseason. The 25-year-old Kansas product averaged 3.0 points and 2.3 rebounds with the Pelicans over the past two seasons after being selected in the second round of the 2013 draft.

Withey received a qualifying offer from the Pelicans to make him a restricted free agent,
Withey should continue to serve in a limited backup role for the Pelicans next season if he accepts the qualifying offer to stay with the team. After two seasons of sitting on the pine, there probably isn't much clamor for Withey's services on the free agent market.

Withey, after appearing in 58 games last season, played in just 37 this season for the Pelicans, finishing with averages of 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds over 7 minutes per game.
Withey was buried within New Orleans' rotation this season, as the acquisition of Omer Asik from the Rockets in the offseason put Withey as the third-string center behind Asik and Alexis Ajinca. It's not that Withey doesn't have the ability, as he has shown signs of being a formidable NBA big man on both ends of the floor, he is just on a team that is loaded with frontcourt players. In his one appearance this season when he played 29 minutes as a result of Ryan Anderson, Anthony Davis and Asik all being out, Withey scored 14 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out three assists. Heading into the offseason, both Asik and Ajinca will be free agents while The Pelicans have a qualifying offer worth over $1 million they can extend Withey's way. So, Withey's future entirely depends on what New Orleans decides to do this offseason, but even if he is not re-signed, it is hard to imagine there isn't a team out there for the big man.

Withey made a rare appearance on the court Wednesday, getting three minutes against the Lakers after three straight DNPs.
Withey hasn't been able to carve out a consistent role in New Orleans, playing in just six games since February 23. Although playing time doesn't seem to be in the cards for the remainder of this season, Withey has produced when given minutes, scoring 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds last month against the Warriors.

Withey hasn't played in the Pelicans' last three games, despite the injuries to Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson.
Withey is far behind Dante Cunningham and Alexis Ajinca in the pecking order for minutes in the frontcourt, joining newly-acquired Justin Hamilton at the end of the bench. Withey hasn't played double-digit minutes since the All-Star break.

Withey has played a total of 18 minutes this month, falling behind Alexis Ajinca in the rotation.
Withey has some promise as a shot blocker, but it appears that potential won't be realized this season unless a rash of injuries strike the Pelicans. The Kansas product has appeared in just 23 games this season and has averaged fewer than six minutes per game.

Withey was briefly a part of head coach Monty Williams' rotation, but has once again been banished to the bench.
Withey has appeared in just 17 of the Pelicans' 30 games, and has played more than five minutes in just nine of those. The Kansas product has potential as a rebounder and shot-blocker, but the minutes are too inconsistent for Withey right now.
Sat Nov 8 201414:48Withey has only made one appearance this season for Pelicans
Withey has only made one appearance this season for the Pelicans.
The minutes at center are almost exclusively going to Anthony Davis and Omer Asik leaving no spill over for Withey. There's no reason to believe this will change over the course of the season which leaves the 24-year-old on the outside looking in.
Wed Jul 9 201414:21Jeff Withey up to 240 pounds
Jeff Withey gained 17 pounds from last season and is now up to 240.
The Pelicans are expected to bring on Omer Asik in a deal, so Withey's chances of making an impact next season seem to be dwindling. He'll likely get some extended playing time in Las Vegas Summer League later this week.

Fri Jun 13 201411:47Jeff Withey will play in summer league
Jeff Withey will play in Las Vegas Summer League in July.
He had a decent finish to his rookie season, averaging 8.2 points, 4.0 boards, 0.3 steals and 2.6 blocks in 22.1 minutes per game. Withey didn't do much in summer league in 2013 and maybe a year under his belt could help him this time around.

Mon Apr 14 201423:38Withey blocks four shots in Monday's win
Jeff Withey blocked four shots in Monday's win, and also chipped in with eight points and six boards in 33 minutes.
Withey should get big minutes in Wednesay's finale and is worth a look if you're hunting boards and blocks. Alexis Ajinca (19 minutes, 10 points, four boards, five fouls) is also worth a look in that regard to a lesser extent.

Fri Apr 11 201419:00Jeff Withey, Austin Rivers starting vs. OKC
Jeff Withey and Austin Rivers will start vs. the Thunder on Friday night.
He's coming off a career-high 17 points on Wednesday and will look to build that momentum. One problem, though: Serge Ibaka. Withey is a middle-upside, high-risk player tonight, but the Pelicans figure to give him some run. Al-Farouq Aminu moves to the bench.

Wed Apr 9 201423:38Jeff Withey scores career-high 17 points
Jeff Withey scored a career-high 17 points vs. the Suns during a 94-88 loss on Wednesday, adding two boards, three assists and one block on 7-of-10 from the field.
If Anthony Davis (back) is out for any more time, there really is no reason why the Pelicans shouldn't play their rookie. Greg Steimsma has been a detriment to offensive flow and at least Withey has shown he can move a little without the ball to establish position. He offers some upside for owners looking to stream big man stats.

Thu Apr 3 201401:05Jeff Withey logs 30 minutes off bench
Jeff Withey played 30 minutes against the Nuggets on Wednesday with 13 points, five board, one assist, one steal and four blocks.
The Pelicans have no reason not to play the rookie at this point and he felt comfortable around the basket. Greg Stiemsma has been a liability on offense, so don't be surprised to see Withey get a start. To be clear, the NO center spot has been a wasteland in fantasy and only owners in deep leagues should care.

Tue Apr 1 201401:53Withey blocks career-high five shots
Jeff Withey blocked a career-high five shots in Monday's loss, and also added eight points on 4-of-4 shooting with seven rebounds and a steal in 28 minutes off the bench.
The Kings always give the opposition a lot of blocks so that explains some of the big number there, but in general owners have an entire season's worth of work to look back on in order to avoid the big man mess in New Orleans. If he can do it again we'll let you know.

Sat Mar 22 201400:34Jeff Withey doesn't score vs. Hawks
Jeff Withey moved back to the bench against the Hawks on Friday and failed to score.
He got the start on Wednesday with Anthony Davis out and couldn't build off that nine-point game. Withey has no fantasy value in the majority of leagues.

Wed Mar 19 201423:55Jeff Withey scores nine points in start
Jeff Withey was in the starting lineup in place of Anthony Davis (illness) on Wednesday vs. the Raptors, scoring nine points with four boards, one assist, one steal and two blocks.
He seems to be building momentum as the best center among Alexis Ajinca and Greg Stiemsma for Monty Williams' Pelicans. Withey is basically a big fish in a little pond for one of the least productive spots in any NBA lineup, but at least he's been at 28.0 minutes per game in his last two. He's only on the radar in deep leagues despite blocking five shots in his last two games.

Wed Mar 19 201419:59Jeff Withey and Greg Stiemsma starting
Jeff Withey and Greg Stiemsma are starting on Wednesday vs. the Raptors.
Apparently coach Monty Williams wants to keep Al-Farouq Aminu with his second unit. Withey and Stiemsma will join Brian Roberts, Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans in the starting lineup. Neither big man is worth using in most formats.

Jeff Withey and Luke Babbit are candidates to start Friday if Anthony Davis (shoulder) can't.

Fri Jan 24 201423:29Withey disappears in center shuffle
Jeff Withey disappeared in Friday's game, scoring two points with five rebounds and one steal in 19 minutes.
Withey scored a career-high 14 points on Tuesday but in New Orlean's center shuffle he's going to have to have prolonged success before owners should do anything but watch.
