Tue Jan 1621:31Mason Plumlee Moves Into Starting Five
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee will shift into the starting five ahead of Tuesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Clippers are going to need Plumlee to step up with Ivica Zubac (calf) sidelined for at least the next four weeks. Plumlee will get the starting nod on Tuesday, while Daniel Theis operates as the primary backup center. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Theis gets a few starts depending on the matchup. Both players could have streaming appeal depending on the matchup, but aren't must-have fantasy options.

Wed Dec 6 202315:54Mason Plumlee Not Close To Returning
Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue says center Mason Plumlee (knee) did a "slow run" on the court recently but is still a ways away from practicing 5-on-5 in his recovery. Plumlee had to be carried off the Madison Square Garden court on Nov. 8 and was later diagnosed with an MCL sprain in his left knee. Due out for roughly another month, Plumlee is in line to be re-evaluated in the next week or two. In a muted reserve role off L.A.'s bench, the versatile 33-year-old big man was not relevant in fantasy hoops by averaging 5.0 points on 63.2% field-goal shooting and 5.5 rebounds in 17.0 minutes over six games. Ivica Zubac is locked in as L.A.'s preferred traditional center, but his minutes can fluctuate depending on matchup. After being a regular member of the DNP-CD club with the Indiana Pacers, Daniel Theis has gotten comfortable in his new digs as a consistent part of the team's second unit since linking up with the Clippers on Nov. 17.

Wed Nov 8 202309:52Mason Plumlee Out With MCL Sprain
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee (knee) has suffered a left MCL sprain, sources have told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The big guy was injured Monday against the Knicks and had to be carried off the court. He has left the team's road trip to undergo further evaluation in Los Angeles, meaning Plumlee is out for at least the next two games, starting with Wednesday's matchup against Brooklyn. Plumlee's injury leaves the Clippers without a proper backup for starting center Ivica Zubac, although Brooklyn uses a lot of smaller lineups, and his absence will be more missed in the next game against Dallas. P.J. Tucker should get extra minutes off the bench with Plumlee out, but he's never been a great fantasy producer.

Mon Nov 6 202321:51Mason Plumlee Won't Return On Monday
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee (knee) won't return to Monday's game against the New York Knicks. This doesn't come as a surprise after Plumlee needed to be carried off the court and into the locker room. The team is calling the injury a sprained left knee, which means Plumlee could miss some time from this issue. Ivica Zubac figures to play heavy minutes with the Clippers thin at the center spot. Possibly, the Clippers decide to go small-ball with Moussa Diabate and P.J. Tucker. Regardless, Zubac is likely to benefit the most with the loss of Plumlee.

Mon Nov 6 202321:30Mason Plumlee Carried To Locker Room
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee (knee) suffered what looked to be a significant injury during Monday's game against the New York Knicks. The big man appeared to have hyperextended his knee while attempting to get a loose ball. The veteran center needed to be carried back to the locker room in order to be further examined. The fact Plumlee wasn't able to walk is not a good sign. Fantasy managers should get another update on his status later in the night. In the meantime, Ivica Zubac is likely to play big minutes with the Clippers extremely thin at the center spot.

Thu Apr 27 202321:29Clippers Want To Bring Back Mason Plumlee
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee is set to become a free agent this season. Recently, Clippers team president Lawrence Frank mentioned he'd love to bring back Plumlee this offseason. The Clippers acquired Plumlee mid-season in a deal with the Charlotte Hornets. He mainly came off the bench, while Ivica Zubac remained the starter. Despite coming off the bench, Plumlee played well and has shown he's capable of contributing even as a bench player. It'll be interesting to see if the two sides can find common ground on a deal this offseason.

Wed Apr 26 202310:47Mason Plumlee Provides Double-Double Off Of The Bench
Los Angeles Clippers center Mason Plumlee posted a strong performance in just 24 minutes off of the bench despite suffering a six-point loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Plumlee, along with the rest of the bench squad, were the only Clippers to obtain a positive plus/minus in this game as they tried to fight back without their two superstars. The 33-year-old out of Duke ended the game with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one steal on 6-for-7 shooting and 8-for-9 from the charity stripe.

Fri Feb 10 202313:152023 NBA Trade Deadline Breakdown - Fantasy Basketball Impacts
The NBA trade deadline has officially come and gone and we had one of the most active deadlines in recent memory with some big stars being dealt. Kyrie, KD, and Westbrook are all heading to new teams and we have been covering those trades and their fantasy impacts here at RotoBaller. But there were plenty of other lesser-known players who were dealt in the last few days and I wanted to go through and make sure we don't overlook some of these trades as some of those deals may even have more fantasy impact than the big moves. So here are some other trades that went down and my two cents on the increase or decrease in value that we should expect from the players involved for the remainder of the 2022-2023 fantasy basketball season.

Moves That Matter

These are very much in order of how much they matter. Let's start with the Spurs sending their starting center back up North where he started his career.Jakob Poeltl to the RaptorsI am a huge Poeltl fan and was close to acquiring him on multiple teams before the deadline. It was a curious move by Toronto to be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline, but Poeltl gives them the presence at the five they have been lacking all season and allows Siakam to shift over and play PF where he belongs.Poeltl is no longer a shutdown candidate and has legit top-50 upside with his multi-category abilities. His departure also makes ... [More]
Fri Feb 10 202309:25Navigating The Clippers Trade Deadline Moves - Fantasy Basketball Impact
The Los Angeles Clippers are in the heat of the congested Western Conference playoff race and were one of the more active franchises during Thursday's trade deadline. The Clippers had some glaring needs, specifically at the point guard position, and needed to surround their star forwards, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, with more talent to compete in the loaded Western Conference. The Clippers were able to execute three separate trades on Thursday. First off, the Clippers were able to secure Bones Hyland from the Denver Nuggets for a couple of second-round picks. Then, they set their eyes on veteran guard Eric Gordon in a three-team trade, sending off John Wall to the Houston Rockets and Luke Kennard to the Memphis Grizzlies. Lastly, the Clippers moved ... Mon Oct 10 202221:25Mason Plumlee Exits Early On Monday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (foot) was unable to finish Monday's preseason matchup against the Washington Wizards. The big man reportedly suffered a left foot sprain and was unable to return to action. The severity of the injury is unknown at the moment. P.J. Williams, Nick Richards and Mark Williams would all see a boost in playing time, assuming Plumlee is forced to miss time. Fantasy managers will have to check back for another update on Plumlee.

Tue Dec 28 202106:47Mason Plumlee Does It All In Monday's Win
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee had one of his best games of the season on Monday, producing a season-high 15 points and nine rebounds with three assists, two steals and three blocks in a blowout win over Houston, making all seven shots from the field. Plumlee had scored just 25 points in total in five December appearances prior to Monday. He doesn't feature a lot for the Hornets but managed to log 29 minutes here. The big guy should be in for a busy night again on Wednesday against the Pacers, who have multiple frontcourt threats. It's an awful matchup for him offensively, but Plumlee will be doing all the dirty work again.

Wed Dec 15 202120:10Mason Plumlee To Start In Return Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (ribs) will start Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. Plumlee is returning to the court for the first time since November 26th and immediately slide into the starting five, pushing Nick Richards to the bench. Richards started Monday, but only played 3 minutes. Plumlee starting means P.J. Washington should take a small hit, but Washington has been solid as backup center even with Plumlee out. Plumlee is averaging 6.8 points and 7.3 rebounds in 26.1 minutes as a starter this season.

Wed Dec 15 202119:44Mason Plumlee Officially Active Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (ribs) is available to play Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. Plumlee has been out since November 26th with a calf strain, the health and safety protocols and now the rib contusion. Plumlee has finally been cleared to return to the court, but will likely be on a minutes restriction given the length of his absence. P.J. Washington should take a hit with Plumlee's return and it remains to be seen who will start at the five.

Wed Dec 15 202114:23Mason Plumlee Might Play Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (ribs) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. It looks like he is on track to play for the first time since November 26. He has been sidelined while following safety protocols and suffered a rib injury while conditioning in the G-League. It's uncertain if he'll move back into the starting five once he's cleared to play. Regardless, P.J. Washington will lose minutes and value once Plumlee returns.

Tue Dec 14 202120:19Mason Plumlee Listed As Questionable For Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (ribs) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. He has been sidelined since late November due to safety protocols. Plumlee has been practicing in the G-League, so possibly that is where he picked up the ribs injury. Regardless, his return is likely to happen this week, which isn't good news for the value of P.J. Washington.

Mon Dec 13 202114:41Mason Plumlee Cleared Safety Protocols
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee has cleared the league's health and safety protocols. He has been assigned to the Hornets' G-League affiliate to get up his conditioning. There is a chance that Plumlee is able to return for Wednesday's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Until then, P.J. Washington (illness) should continue getting increased playing time and usage. He'll be worth looking at as a DFS option for Monday's slate, assuming he plays. He is listed as probable, so fantasy managers should check back before tip-off just in case.

Sat Dec 4 202112:34Jalen McDaniels, Mason Plumlee Out Several Games
Charlotte Hornets forward Jalen McDaniels and center Mason Plumlee have entered the league's health and safety protocols. The Hornets are going to be extremely shorthanded over the next week or so. Both Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges will be asked to carry a heavier workload. P.J. Washington should move into the starting center spot and be worth starting while Plumlee is out. Nick Richards should see an uptick in playing time as well, but Washington is the much better fantasy option.

Fri Dec 3 202114:35Mason Plumlee On Track To Play Sunday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (calf) was able to take part in Friday's practice. He is on track to play in Sunday's game against the Atlanta Hawks after missing the last four games. P.J. Washington has been playing well at center lately, but he should lose minutes and value with the return of Washington. It's uncertain if Plumlee will return as the starting center or if the Hornets will stick with Washington. Obviously, Washington wouldn't have as much value off the bench. Plumlee is a better rebounder and defender, so the organization might continue starting him once he's ready to return.

Tue Nov 30 202120:56Mason Plumlee Remains Unavailable On Wednesday
Charlotte Hornets center Mason Plumlee (calf) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee due to a strained right calf. Plumlee's absence will mark his fourth in a row, which paves the way for P.J. Washington to get a larger allotment of run as a stretch five. While Nick Richards started at center Monday, he logged just seven minutes in a brief stint and is unlikely on the DFS radar. Even when healthy, the Hornets have begun to cap Plumlee's run time on the floor, which stunts his fantasy viability. His next chance to suit up comes Sunday vs. the Hawks.
