Southerland signed with Italy's Vanoli Cremona on Wednesday, Sportando reports.

Southerland has played four games in his NBA career, but he has spent the majority of his post-collegiate playing career overseas. Southerland was limited to 2.3 points in 20 games last season while competing in the French League.

Southerland was placed on waivers by the Blazers on Monday, The Oregonian reports.

Southerland entered camp on a non-guaranteed deal, but his chances of landing a spot on the Blazers' final roster were slim with 15 guaranteed contracts already on the roster. After failing to take the court during the team's first three preseason tilts, he likely saw the writing on the wall and will now ink a contract with an overseas club.

Southerland spent most of last season in the D-League and only competed in four NBA games. He'll likely just provide depth to the Blazers' bench this upcoming season, if they even decide to retain his efforts all year.

He quickly joined the rotation with Brian Roberts (ankle) and Tyreke Evans (bruised knee) leaving Friday's game in the first half. New Orleans may continue to lean on Southerland for bench production over their final three games, given how many players are injured, but he's a poor fantasy option in such limited minutes.

Battling yet another spat of injuries, the Pelicans need a body for the final four games. Southerland, undrafted out of Syracuse in 2013, was averaging 14.7 points and 6.5 rebounds for the L.A. D-Fenders in the D-League.

The Pelicans are expected to sign SF James Southerland for the rest of the season.

Southerland is currently playing in the D-League, though he had a forgettable stint with the Bobcats earlier this season. Although he may crack the rotation for the short-handed Pelicans, he's not going to have fantasy value.

Southerland played under three minutes in one appearance this season, and couldn't even crack the lineup with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (hand) and Jeff Taylor (heel) both sidelined on Monday.
