Banks, who is being represented by former major leaguer Gary Sheffield, threw in front of Orioles officials at the organization's minor league complex. The 29-year-old former second-round pick posted a 4.24 ERA and 10/4 K/BB ratio across 17 innings last year for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. |

Banks, 29, was released by the Giants last month after posting 7.27 ERA and 50/22 K/BB ratio over 78 innings with Triple-A Fresno. The 2003 second-round pick made one start with the Astros last season and has a 5.66 ERA over 19 starts and eight relief appearances in the big leagues. |
