Astros released RHP Chia-Jen Lo.

Sun Aug 25 201319:27Lo blows second save of the season
Chia-Jen Lo imploded on Sunday during his second blown save, allowing two runs on three walks and a hit against the Blue Jays.
Bad timing for his worst appearance in the bigs, as Lo appeared to be close to dismissing Josh Fields from Houston's two-man closing committee (Fields earned the hold in pitching a scoreless eighth inning). Lo didn't surrender a run over his first seven appearances, but he's walked five and allowed three runs over his last three outings (two losses and a blown save). Over 10 1/3 innings at the major league level, Lo has a 2.61 ERA and 1.55 WHIP.

Sat Aug 24 201322:01Lo earns second save as Astros top Blue Jays
Chia-Jen Lo picked up his second save of the year Saturday in the Astros' 8-5 win over the Blue Jays.
It was the first series win at Minute Maid Park for the Astros in more than two months. Lo is serving in a two-man committee at closer with Josh Fields and is worth rostering in some deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Sun Aug 18 201311:26Lo, Fields to split closing duties for Astros
Chia-Jen Lo and Josh Fields have emerged as the two-person committee that will close out games for the Astros.
"I'll fluctuate between (Lo and Fields) based on the workload previously leading up to that game," Astros manager Bo Porter said. Closer-by-committee is the worst thing fantasy owners can hear, especially on a team that wins as infrequently as the Astros. Lo has made seven scoreless appearances since being recalled and would be the one to own, but neither has much fantasy value in a timeshare.

Wed Aug 14 201301:56Chia-Jen Lo notches first career save
Chia-Jen Lo earned his first career save by tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in Tuesday's 5-4 victory over the A's.
Missing in the promising line were two averted disasters, as Lo dodged a warning track shot and a drive that missed the foul pole by centimeters. Lo earned the Astros' first save since August 5, when Josh Fields closed out the Red Sox. Fields, of course, was torched over his next two appearances and stripped of his nominal role. Lo hasn't allowed a run over 6 1/3 innings and appears to have quickly earned Bo Porter's trust. He's the only Astro reliever worth owning in mixed leagues.

Sat Aug 3 201301:07Lo blows save Friday against Twins
Chia-Jen Lo blew a save Friday night against the Twins.
After replacing Josh Fields with the tying run at second base and one out in the ninth inning, Lo threw a wild pitch and walked a batter before giving up a single to Brian Dozier. The rookie right-hander was able to retire the next two batters to keep the score tied, but the damage was already done. Jose Cisnero, who many pegged as the favorite for saves with Jose Veras in Detroit, allowed a run on three hits in the eighth inning and has really struggled over the past few weeks. It looks like this will be a messy situation for fantasy owners the rest of the way.

Mon Jul 29 201317:16Astros recall RHP Lo from Double-A
Astros recalled RHP Chia-Jen Lo from Double-A Corpus Christi.
Lo, 27, owns a 3.24 ERA and six saves in 17 appearances this season between Double-A Corpus Christi, Class-A Quad Cities and Low-A Tri-City. Injuries have stalled his development since he was signed back in 2008, but he's finally poised to make his major league debut.

Mon Mar 25 201314:48Astros option Chia-Jen Lo to AAA OKC
Astros optioned RHP Chia-Jen Lo to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Lo posted a cool 2.08 ERA over 8 2/3 innings this spring in the Cactus League. He should be up at some point.

Fri Apr 9 201002:14Astros prospect Lo strikes out four
Chia-Jen Lo struck out four in two scoreless innings out of the pen for Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday.
Lo is 24 and he had a 2.31 ERA in 39 innings out of the pen after moving up to Double-A last year, so there's a good argument that he should be in Triple-A right now. He could be a candidate to help the Astros relief corps later this season.
