Wed Mar 2720:48Joel Embiid To Return Soon?
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) might return before the end of the regular season. Wojnarowski stated that it's not a matter of "if" but "when," while adding the team hopes to get him back with at least a few games left before the postseason begins. The 30-year-old averaged a career-high 35.3 points with 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.8 blocks before going down with a knee injury at the end of January. Of course, it could take him a few games to get back up to speed. However, Embiid's presence will immediately mean less work for Mo Bamba and Paul Reed, who have seen an uptick in production while the reigning MVP has been sidelined.

Wed Mar 2015:31Joel Embiid Out At Least Four More Games
The Athletic's Shams Charania reports that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) returned to practice Sunday as he continues to recover from his meniscus injury. Charania is told the reigning MVP did a lot of non-contact, walkthrough workouts, but he won't be with the team on its four-game West Coast trip that starts Wednesday against the Phoenix Suns. The Sixers' hope at this point is that Embiid is able to ramp up at some point in April, though an exact return date is unclear. Embiid is running out of time be a factor for the fantasy playoffs, and Mo Bamba and Paul Reed have recently formed a value-canceling timeshare at the five in Philly. Although Reed has only started one of his last 10 outings, he's averaging 10.8 points while shooting 52.4% from the field, 7.6 rebounds, 0.7 three-pointers, and 2.6 combined steals plus blocks since March 1 and carries the higher upside of the two down the stretch.

Thu Feb 2915:07Joel Embiid Hopes To Return This Season
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) said Thursday he still hopes to come back this season. Embiid says he's feeling good but there's no timeline for his return, and that it doesn't matter where the team is at, if he can play, he's going to play. The Sixers are 7-17 without the reigning MVP this season and are beginning to border on Eastern Conference play-in status, with fantasy managers looking to get the two-time scoring champion back for their playoffs. Embiid underwent surgery to address an injury to the lateral meniscus in his left knee on Feb. 6 and is slated to be re-evaluated in early March, and ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday that there's hope Embiid can return in late March. Although Paul Reed has started Philly's last 12 games, he's only averaging 7.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in 26.0 minutes during February and is only a low-end streamer right now.

Fri Feb 918:13Philly Hoping Joel Embiid Will Return This Season
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair his left meniscus. He's expected to miss up to eight weeks, at least. However, the team is optimistic the reigning MVP will return this season. "We're hopeful," said president of basketball operations Daryl Morey when asked about Embiid's potential comeback this year. "Feedback has been more good than bad, so we're hopeful." Philly remains in the playoff conversation. But if the team can't keep things together until Embiid is 100%, there's a chance he won't be back until the 2024-25 campaign. That said, Paul Reed, averaging 10.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 14 starts this season, should continue to benefit from a fantasy perspective until Embiid is back on the floor.

Tue Feb 622:22Joel Embiid Could Miss 6-8 Weeks
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) could miss six to eight weeks. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the reigning MVP underwent a procedure on his left meniscus on Tuesday and would be re-evaluated in roughly four weeks. However, most fantasy managers had already mentally prepared themselves for the worst, including the chance Embiid won't be back this season. That said, Embiid was having arguably the best year of his career before going down with the injury, averaging 35.3 points, 11.3 boards, 5.7 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals. As expected, replacing that type of production is nearly impossible, although Paul Reed, averaging 10.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13 starts, will do his best. The 76ers are rumored to be aggressive in the next few days heading into the trade deadline, so help could be on the way.

Tue Feb 615:3176ers Will Re-Evaluate Joel Embiid In Four Weeks
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) underwent a procedure on his left meniscus on Tuesday and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks. The extent of Embiid's procedure remains unclear, but it's worth noting The Athletic's Shams Charania reported on Monday that the "hope is that Embiid misses one to two months." It leaves Embiid's rest-of-season fantasy outlook very murky, but season-long managers need to stash the 29-year-old superstar's 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.2 three-pointers, and 2.9 combined steals and blocks per game. The Sixers could now turn to the trade market ahead of Thursday's deadline for reinforcements at the center position, but Paul Reed needs to be held in all leagues until then despite his recent struggles.

Sun Feb 421:25Joel Embiid Set For A Knee Procedure
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will undergo a procedure in the next few days. He's expected to be sidelined for an "extended period of time." The reigning MVP appeared well on his way to capturing another, averaging a career-high 35.3 points with 11.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals. Unfortunately, he's been battling a meniscus injury, which is a tough blow for fantasy managers. It's also not good news for Philadelphia, a team that's lost 10 of 14 games without Embiid on the floor during the 2023-24 campaign. Per Wojnarowski, "the door isn't closed on an Embiid return this season." However, the medical staff will better understand his prognosis after the procedure. Of course, without Embiid in the lineup, Tyrese Maxey is expected to see a surge in scoring chances. It should also open up for minutes for Paul Reed, who has averaged 11.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 12 starts this year.

Thu Feb 122:23Joel Embiid Suffers Torn Meniscus
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) should be considered out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a torn meniscus. This is a huge blow to both the Sixers and fantasy managers. The organization has not given a timetable for Embiid's return, but the expectation is that the reigning MVP will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. Paul Reed and Mo Bamba are expected to split up the playing time at the center spot. Reed is a must-have player while Embiid is out. Fantasy managers should immediately jump on the waiver wire in search of Reed. The assumption is that the Sixers will be actively seeking a big man at the trade deadline. Fantasy managers will have to check back for an update on Embiid's timetable.

Wed Jan 3119:02Joel Embiid Out Thursday, Awaiting MRI Results
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is out for Thursday's game against the Utah Jazz and will receive further evaluation on his left knee in the next 24 hours. Embiid was scheduled to go for an MRI on Wednesday, and while it sounds like we'll have to wait a little while longer for the extent of the setback to his already-injured left knee, Philly has ruled out the 29-year-old MVP candidate well in advance of Thursday's action. With that said, Embiid can only miss four more games after Thursday to be eligible for the MVP award based on the NBA's new rules. BBall Paul Reed will hold down the fort at the five for the Sixers in the meantime, averaging 12.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.2 steals in 12 games without Embiid this year and is close to a must-roster in fantasy.

Tue Jan 3021:44Joel Embiid Cleared For Tuesday's Game
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors. The big man has been cleared to play following a two-game absence due to left knee soreness. There is no word on Embiid being limited at all during this game. That being said, fantasy managers should assume Embiid is returning to his normal role in the rotation. Paul Reed will head back to the bench, but should still have a decent role with the Sixers frontcourt being banged up.

Mon Jan 2915:42Joel Embiid Will Miss Monday’s Game
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will miss Monday's game versus the Portland Trail Blazers. Embiid was a late scratch for Saturday's showdown against the Denver Nuggets due to soreness in his left knee and will sit out Monday's first part of Philly's back-to-back. The NBA's scoring leader (36.0 points per game) sets his sights toward returning for Tuesday's outing against the Golden State Warriors. After going off for a 30-point, 13-rebound double-double on Saturday, Paul Reed remains a streaming option for multiple fantasy categories. Reed is averaging 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.2 steals in 11 games without Embiid this season.

Sun Jan 2822:20Joel Embiid Listed As Questionable Against Trail Blazers
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) has been deemed questionable for their Monday night matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers. The reigning MVP wasn't even on the injury report ahead of their matchup with the Denver Nuggets but was quickly ruled out with knee soreness right before tip-off. He remains questionable since then, so fantasy managers will have to stay tuned for more updates after shootaround. If he's unable to suit up again, Paul Reed will move into the starting five again while Marcus Morris Sr. and Mo Bamba will split up the remaining minutes off of the bench.

Sat Jan 2017:07Joel Embiid Questionable Against Charlotte
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is questionable for Saturday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. The reigning MVP logged 31 minutes in Friday's win over the Orlando Magic, scoring 36 points and draining all 11 attempts from the charity stripe. But he's dealing with left knee soreness, so there's a good chance he won't suit up versus the nine-win Hornets. Of course, Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Tobias Harris should absorb most of the scoring opportunities without Embiid in the lineup. However, Paul Reed, averaging 10.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and 1.2 steals this season in games without Embiid, is worth streaming in deeper fantasy setups.

Tue Jan 1615:04Joel Embiid Off Tuesday’s Injury Report
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is not seen on the team's injury report for Tuesday's game against the Denver Nuggets. After returning to play for 31 minutes on Monday after a three-game absence due to swelling in his left knee, Embiid is ready to go for this interconference showdown against Denver. With Nikola Jokic (hip) and the rest of the Nuggets' stars all expected to be out there as well, Tuesday's marquee matchup between two championship contenders certainly carries plenty of anticipation. The 29-year-old reigning MVP is leading the NBA with 34.9 points per game and has registered a whopping 17 consecutive showings with at least 30 points, shooting 55.6% from the floor with 1.2 triples and 3.4 combined steals and blocks per game since Nov. 17. Embiid is safe to deploy in all season-long fantasy leagues.

Tue Jan 1610:10Joel Embiid Expected To Play On Tuesday
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is expected to play on Tuesday against Denver after he returned to action on Monday. The reigning MVP crushed the Rockets with a 41-point, 10-rebound performance in 31 minutes. Embiid had missed three games with a left knee issue. However, it looks like he's fully recovered now, with Philadelphia ready to use him in a back-to-back situation. Hopefully, we also get to see Nikola Jokic (hip) on the court. The Nuggets star is carrying a questionable tag ahead of Tuesday's big encounter.

Sun Jan 1422:16Joel Embiid Listed As Questionable For Monday
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) has been tagged as questionable for their Monday afternoon meeting with the Houston Rockets. The reigning MVP has missed the last three consecutive games due to knee inflammation and he can only miss seven more if he wants to qualify for MVP again. The good news is that he was seen at practice and his questionable status is better than his injury reports over the last week, so he's trending in the right direction. Fantasy managers will want to check back in the morning to see if his status has changed after shootaround. If he's unable to play, Paul Reed will likely start while Marcus Morris Sr. will see added time since Mo Bamba (knee) is listed as doubtful.

Thu Jan 1118:19No Return For Joel Embiid Friday
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) will remain out for Friday's battle with the Sacramento Kings. Embiid continues to deal with inflammation in his left knee, and it's unclear if he has returned to practice. Head coach Nick Nurse had originally expressed optimism that Embiid would be available on Friday against the Kings, but he will have to wait until at least Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. Day game versus the Houston Rockets before potentially getting the NBA's leading scorer and reigning MVP back in his lineup. Paul Reed may not be the 30-point, 10-rebound threat that Embiid is, but he is chipping in 10.6 points on 58.0% shooting from the floor, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.4 combined steals and blocks in 24.3 minutes per game over nine contests without Embiid this year for fantasy managers who could use a streamer.

Tue Jan 918:33Joel Embiid Still Out Against Hawks
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) remains out for Wednesday's game versus the Atlanta Hawks due to swelling in his left knee. Embiid missed Saturday's contest as well as practice on Monday and Tuesday with the issue, and he will hope to make his return to Philly's lineup when they host the Sacramento Kings on Friday. The NBA's leading scorer (34.6 points per game) can be deemed day-to-day for now, but his lack of practice is at least moderately concerning. Robert Covington (illness) won't be active on Wednesday, so Paul Reed's streaming value lives on in fantasy basketball. In eight outings without Embiid this season, Reed is recording 10.8 points on 59.0% shooting from the field, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.4 combined steals and blocks in 24.9 minutes per game.

Mon Jan 815:28Joel Embiid Misses Monday's Practice
Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said center Joel Embiid (knee) did not practice on Monday and hopes he'll get some activity in on Tuesday. The Sixers could be managing Embiid's practice reps, and he'll have until Wednesday's stop in Atlanta against the Hawks to get back on the court after missing Saturday's second game of a back-to-back with swelling in his left knee. The 29-year-old two-time scoring champion is on a rampage right now, notching 15 consecutive 30-point, 10-rebound efforts with averages of 36.8 points, 12.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.2 triples, and 3.6 combined steals and plus blocks over this period. Paul Reed could start at the five for Philly again on Wednesday if Embiid can't get cleared.

Sat Jan 618:09Joel Embiid Now Questionable On Saturday
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) is now listed as questionable ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Utah Jazz. The reigning MVP injured his knee in Saturday's loss to the New York Knicks, so it was surprising when he began the day without an injury designation. Head coach Nick Nurse indicated Embiid is a game-time decision. However, there's a good chance he'll join Tobias Harris (ankle) on the shelf for the meeting with the 16-20 Jazz. If that's the case, Paul Reed and Mo Bamba are the favorites to split time in the middle and are worth considering for streaming purposes.
