G Markel Brown had a quiet night of eight points during Tuesday's 131-114 rout of Philadelphia as he was 2 of 6 from the field. Since getting 23 on 8 of 16 shooting March 5 in Minnesota, he is 8 of 26 from the field.

G Markel Brown had a third straight quiet showing for the Nets on Sunday in a 109-100 loss to Milwaukee. On March 5, he scored 23 on 8-of-16 shooting in a 14-point loss at Minnesota, but he has not followed it up with productivity. In his past three games, Brown is shooting 6-for-20, and the Nets have been outscored by 34 points when he has been in the court in those games.

Tue Oct 6 201517:17Brown will miss remainder of Nets' preseason games
Brown, who has been dealing with a left oblique strain for almost a week, will miss the remainder of the Nets' preseason games.
Originally, Brown's oblique injury wasn't expected to threaten his availability for the start of the regular season, but his status will be updated following the preseason as his timetable for return is currently somewhat unclear. Upon Brown's eventual return to the court, he'll battle for minutes behind fellow guards Jarrett Jack and Shane Larkin as the regular season gets underway.

Brown (oblique) will miss Monday's preseason exhibition game against Fenerbache Ulker.
Brown was set to visit Dr. Riley Williams in New York over the weekend, but his status hasn't been updated following the trip, but it's no surprise that he'll skip Monday's contest.

Brown's MRI on Thursday confirmed that he suffered a left oblique strain, and he will be evaluated by Dr. Riley Williams in New York over the weekend.
The team hasn't released a corresponding timetable to the oblique injury, but perhaps that will come following the doctor visit over the weekend. Unless it's something overly serious, it shouldn't impact his availability for the regular season. However, he's expected to sit behind both Jarrett Jack and Shane Larkin on the Nets' depth chart when healthy, likely limiting his minutes.
Thu Oct 1 201516:23Brown strained left oblique during Thursday's practice
Brown strained his left oblique during Thursday's practice, Rob Boone of Newsday reports.
The injury could sideline Brown for a few days, but unless the Nets paint a more serious picture regarding the ailment, the guard should be ready to go for the start of the regular season. Even with Deron Williams moving over to Dallas this offseason, Brown still finds himself as the low man on the Nets' depth chart at point guard. Jarrett Jack is expected to start at the position while Shane Larkin serves as his top backup, leaving no room for Brown to assume a significant portion of minutes.

Brown is ready for an expanded role in the rotation following Alan Anderson's departure to the Wizards, Roderick Boone of Newsday reports.
Brown must still compete with Bojan Bogdanovic and rookie Rondae Hollis-Jefferson for minutes, but if Joe Johnson is shipped to the Cavaliers as rumors indicate, Brown must improve his offensive game in order to become a viable fantasy asset. He started 29 of the final 30 games last season, but he only averaged 22.9 minutes per game and ceded much of his playing time to Bogdanovic and Anderson. Through three summer league contests, Brown has shot 7-of-27 from the floor, a inauspicious sign.

Brown appeared in 47 games in 2014-15, making 29 starts and averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game.
The 44th pick in the 2014 draft, Brown was glued to the bench to start the season, appearing in only one of the Nets' first 17 games. His role remained stagnant through the first half of the season, as he dealt with a couple of minor injuries and spent time in the D-League. However, he got his chance in late-February, when Bojan Bogdanovic was out with an ankle injury. Brown played 45 minutes in a win over the Nuggets on Feb. 23, putting up 10 points and 11 rebounds to go with a pair of assists and four steals. Bogdanovic returned to the lineup a few games later, but the Nets found themselves without Mirza Teletovic, so Brown remained a consistent rotational player for the rest of the regular season. The Oklahoma State product is an elite athlete and strong defender, but he struggled on the offensive end, shooting just 39.2 percent from the floor in March (20.6 minutes per game) and 30.9 percent (23.4 minutes) in April. Brown started Game 1 of the Nets' first-round series with the Hawks but played just six minutes. He was a DNP-CD for the next four contests before logging five minutes in the Game 6, season-ending, blowout loss. Brown will enter Year 2 of his rookie deal next season and figures to compete for a rotational spot, though it's unlikely he'll begin the year as a starter.
Sat Apr 25 201521:11Brown did not see court Saturday in Nets' Game 3 win over Hawks
Brown did not see the court Saturday in the Nets' Game 3 win over the Hawks. He was a coach's decison-did not play for a second straight game.
Brown was the Nets' starting shooting guard down the stretch of the regular season and started Game 1 before being replaced in the starting lineup by Bojan Bogdanovic beginning with Game 2. The Nets are using a tight four-guard rotation right now, and it's unlikely Brown will be able to crack it without one of the current rotation guys (Deron Williams, Bogdanovic, Jarrett Jack, Alan Anderson) getting injured.
Wed Apr 22 201517:47Brown will come off bench in Wednesday's Game 2 against Hawks
Brown will come off the bench in Wednesday's Game 2 against the Hawks, ESPN's Mike Mazzeo reports.
Brown got the start in Game 1 but saw only six minutes and finished with four points on 2-of-3 shooting. Coach Lionel Hollins will go with Bojan Bogdanovic, who played 32 minutes off the bench in Game 1, in his place.

Brown (ankle) posted two points, one rebound, and one steal in 29 minutes against the Heat on Wednesday.
Brown has been dealing with an ankle injury of late but seemed to shake it off with Wednesday's 29-minute outing. Looking ahead, he's the expected starter for Saturday's game against the 76ers.

Brown (ankle) will play Wednesday against the Heat, Mike Mazzeo of ESPN reports.
Brown was initially considered doubtful to play Wednesday, but after going through warmups his ankle is feeling better and he'll be available for coach Lionel Hollins. Brown will get the start at shooting guard.

Brown (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Wednesday's game against the Heat.
Brown departed Tuesday's contest in the second half after turning his left ankle. While X-rays came back negative, Brown was clearly in considerable pain, and it would be a surprise if he ends up playing Wednesday.
Tue Mar 10 201521:13Brown underwent X-ray on ankle
Brown underwent an X-ray on his ankle, but it came back negative. However, Brown will be out for the rest of Tuesday's game against New Orleans Rod Boone of Newsday reports.
This is encouraging news for Brown, who was in a great deal of pain after turning his ankle in the second half of Tuesday's contest. Brooklyn is playing the front end of a back-to-back Tuesday, so Brown should be considered questionable going into Wednesday.

Brown (ankle) has gone to the locker room after suffering an apparent ankle injury Tuesday against New Orleans, ESPN's Mike Mazzeo reports.
Brown's status for the rest of the game is uncertain at this point, but the fact that he could hardly put weight on his ankle isn't a good sign. If he misses the rest of Tuesday's game, he should be considered questionable for Wednesday's contest against Miami

Brown scored five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt) with four rebounds, four assists and steals in the win over Mavericks on Sunday.
Brown's minutes finally came back down after playing 30 minutes or more in the past three games, and his production level came down with it. Jarrett Jack and Bojan Bogdanovic both seemed to cut into his playing time on Saturday, leaving Brown as a borderline fantasy option at best in deeper leagues. Fantasy owners can safely leave him on the wire.

Brown scored 10 points (4-12 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) with 11 rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals in 45 minutes during Monday's win over the Nuggets.
It's easily his best performance in the NBA to date. He had just one block coming into the game, but Brown certainly has the wingspan and athleticism to provide a KJ McDaniels-like boost in that category if the Nets decide to give him some run down the stretch. Keep a close eye on his usage over the next couple of games.
Mon Feb 23 201513:18Brown will get start at shooting guard Monday
Brown will get the start at shooting guard Monday, the New York Post's Tim Bontemps reports.
Bojan Bogdanovic is out, so Brown will add to a very small lineup Monday, with Joe Johnson and Alan Anderson starting at the two forward spots. Brown is an athletic freak, but is relatively inexperienced in the NBA. In his last game he had nine points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 15 minutes. He should be viewed as a high-upside, high-risk option in daily leagues Monday.
