G/F P.J. Hairston could be back Friday for a game at Dallas. He sat out his 11th straight game on Tuesday night with a groin strain. "He feels good," Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger said.

F P.J. Hairston finished 8-of-13 from the floor and converted five of nine 3-pointers for 21 points in Memphis 112-95 win Friday over the Los Angeles Lakers. Hairston also had four rebounds.

G P.J. Hairston scored 17 points for Memphis Wednesday. Hairston came over in a trade right before the deadline.

With the NBA trade deadline just two days away, the Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat made a reported three-team deal on Tuesday.The Grizzlies sent swingman Courtney Lee to the Hornets in exchange for P.J. Hairston and also obtained Chris Andersen from the Miami Heat for Hornets guard Brian Roberts.Additionally, the Grizzlies receive four second-round draft picks, including two from the Hornets in 2018 and 2019, and two from the Heat. The 30-year-old Lee is expected to give the Hornets some help with scoring and perimeter defense. He is averaging 10 points per game and shooting 37 percent on 3-pointers this season. He also brings playoff experience to the Hornets, who are eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.The Grizzlies, in need of front-line help after a season-ending injury to center Marc Gasol, are hoping to get rebounding and defense from Andersen, a veteran with postseason experience who is in the last year of his contract. Memphis was fifth in the Western Conference standings going into Tuesday's games.Hairston, 22, is in his second year in the league and averaging 6.0 points and 2.7 rebounds this season. Roberts, 30, is averaging 4.8 points and 1.3 assists in 2015-16.

Hairston said he dropped 13 pounds this summer during former NBA player John Lucas' annual offseason camp, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.

Hairston appears more serious about his fitness heading into his second NBA season, as he noted that in addition to the difficult workouts Lucas put him through, he cut fried foods from his diet and reduced his sugar intake. On the heels of an up-and-down rookie season, Hairston struggled in the Orlando Summer League in July, so the weight loss alone won't be a guaranteed sign of future success. Hairston will need to show a more reliable three-point stroke if he hopes to see an uptick in playing time between Kemba Walker and offseason backcourt acquisitions Nicolas Batum and Jeremy Lin.

Hairston struggled with his shot during the Orlando Pro Summer League, and he averaged 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 three-pointers in 29 minutes per game.

Hairston suffered a left shoulder contusion midway through the tournament, and it hampered his game. He shot 33 percent from the field and 29 percent from downtown, exacerbated by a 3-of-10 performance from distance on the final day of summer league. Those numbers mirrored his percentages during his rookie season. The Hornets are stacked with competent three-point shooters, and their wing position is crowded. Hairston must improve his perimeter shot in order to earn quality playing time, as well as avoid legal trouble.

Hairston suffered from a left shoulder contusion on Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.

Hairston had X-rays on his shoulder Tuesday and the results were negative, so it does not appear this is anything serious. However, it would not be shocking if the team kept Hairston out for the next couple of games to prevent any further damage.

Hairston played in 45 games over the course of his rookie season, finding himself going in and out of the rotation throughout the year. At times, Hairston proved he could score in a pretty high volume, but he showed himself to be a fairly inefficient shooter, as he shot just 32 percent form the field and 30 percent from behind the arc. He finished the regular season with averages of 5.6 points and 2.0 rebounds over 15 minutes per game.

Hairston provides great size, strength and versatility for someone playing the shooting guard position, but unfortunately for him, he is a part of a crowded shooting guard position on Charlotte consisting of Lance Stephenson, Gerald Henderson and Troy Daniels. However, given Hairston's physical traits and scoring ability, he does show some promise for the Hornets going forward. Should Hairston improve on his accuracy and efficiency on the offensive end, he could look to provide a spark off the bench for Charlotte as early as next season. It is just a matter of him getting on the floor to prove his worth. In the 10 outings in which he played 20-plus minutes, Hairston averaged 10.4 points per game, so he has showed that he is capable of offensive production, and it is now just a matter of consistency and efficiency. Hairston is only guaranteed to be under contract through the 2015-16 season with a two-year team option available after that.

Hairston won't play in Wednesday's regular season finale against the Raptors.

Hairston missed Monday's game because of a right knee sprain suffered Sunday against the Pistons, and it will cost him the last game of the season as well. He will finish the 2014-15 campaign averaging 5.6 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.5 assists in 15 minutes.

Hairston will not play in Monday's game against the Pistons after spraining his right knee Sunday.

Hairston should be considered day-to-day moving forward. His next opportunity to play will be against the Raptors on Wednesday in the regular season finale.

Hairston will sit for the sixth straight game, as he's essentially fallen out of the rotation over the past month. Coach Steve Clifford told reporters that, for now, Hairston is behind Jeff Taylor and Troy Daniels in the rotation.

Hairston failed to show up for weight training early on Sunday and is being punished as a result. This isn't his first stint on the bench for disciplinary reasons but the rookie wouldn't likely see significant time on the court if he was available anyway.

Hairston scored a career-high 16 points Tuesday against Detroit. 12 of those points came on three-pointers and he added two rebounds and an assist over 27 minutes on the floor.

Hairston hadn't gotten on the court since Jan. 31 against Denver, where he had two points in 11 minutes. Injury issues for the Hornets opened up some playing time for Hairston on Tuesday, though with the All-Star break looming, players like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will likely be ready to retake the floor when Charlotte resumes action on Feb. 21. Don't expect Hairston to have much fantasy relevance once Charlotte is back at full strength.

Hairston (ankle) is probable for Saturday's game, the Charlotte Observer's Rick Bonnell reports.

He sprained the ankle in Friday's contest, but it is not believed to be serious, and all expectations are that he will play Saturday. Harrison has not been seeing consistent minutes, so he is best left on fantasy benches/waiver wires for now.
