CLEVELAND (AP) — Veteran forward Kendrick Perkins is back with the Cleveland Cavaliers.Cleveland signed Perkins on Wednesday, the final day of the regular season, and will have him on its playoff roster as it tries to make the NBA Finals for the fourth straight year. The 33-year-old Perkins was with the Cavs during their 2015 run to the Finals.The 6-foot-10 Perkins also was with Cleveland during training camp this season and spent time with its Canton G-League affiliate. Perkins hasn't played in the NBA since 2016 with New Orleans.Perkins gives Cleveland some frontcourt depth in case of an injury and another player with postseason experience who can provide leadership.A 13-year veteran, Perkins has also played for Boston and Oklahoma City. Tavares played with the Hawks' summer league team, averaging 7.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 2.8 blocks, and 0.3 steals in 21 minutes per game through six contests.

Last season in Spain, he averaged 8.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 0.8 steals in 22 minutes per game through 36 games. Tavares, who was drafted in the second round of the 2014 draft, recently agreed to a multi-year deal with the Hawks. With veterans Al Horford, Paul Milsap, Tiago Splitter, and Mike Muscala on the roster, Tavares will probably play sparing minutes off the bench next season.

Tavares (oblique) exited Saturday's summer league contest due to a right index finger laceration and didn't return, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Taveras received four stitches and was cleared to return in the Hawks' 91-83 victory. They'll play Sunday in the semifinals against the Spurs, but with Tavares fresh of an oblique strain, the team may decide to rest the 7-foot-3 center if any pain lingers.

Tavares didn't play in Thursday's summer league game due to an oblique strain, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The injury isn't considered serious. His next opportunity to play is Saturday against the Mavericks. Through four contests, he's averaging a summer league-high 3.5 blocks in 21.5 minutes per game.

Tavares agreed to terms on a multi-year deal with the Hawks on Thursday, Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports reports.

The massive, 7-3 center from Cape Verde was a second-round pick of Atlanta in the 2014 draft. He'll come over from Gran Canaria of the Spanish league, where he averaged 9.0 points and 7.7 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game. He'll likely require an adjustment period in the NBA, so he may not hold much fantasy value initially.
